Washing your hands before handling your dolls....

Sep 30, 2010

    1. I don't normally but that's because I wash my hands a lot any ways and my hands are rather dry as it is so more washing and I would probably have some kind of skin problem. That being said I don't mess with them if I have lotion or something on my hands!

    2. I usually dont wash my hands really, unless I have something to actually, ya know, wash off.
For example if I have something noticeable on my hands then yes, ill rub it off or wash them.

    3. It is a really good suggestion. or maybe a advice. If I just looking back. My doll is always sleeping with me together. They are just laying on my beds with me together. Of course, not every one. But It was always 2 or maybe 3 sometimes. I loved charlotte & lieselotte so much. I dont wanna put them in some caitbinet. Maybe it will be much better for them. But I think it will be so lonely for them. I dont like this way. And everytime when I waken up I was always begin to play with them first. now I become so stress for that. cuz maybe it will be something bad for my doll. But I never washed hands before I play with my doll or when I am gonna change the clothes for them. But sure, my hands are never so dirty as eyes can see.

    4. If im going to handle my boys quickly just to move them i dont find it necessary. If im going to handle them at great length and touch them alot i do wash my hands thoroughly and repeatedly depending on how long. =)

    5. Mh I usually don't wash my hands before handling them.
I just do that after eating or when my hands are not so clean ^^"

    6. Most of the time I do. Unless my fingers feel dry and clean, I won't go to sink to wash them.

    7. I personally could not imagine touching my dolls without washing my hands, I am very particular about that..

    8. I do except during meetings because I never think about it and I don't always have access to water/soap.
I'm a really clean person when its come to my dolls and handling them or theyre clothes is something that I must be careful to not have dirty hands, because I mostly use my hands to eat chips, candies, hot dog etc etc and I don't always go clean them after.

    9. I generally always wash my hands if I can before doing artwork unless it is brief sketching and I view my dolls as works of art as well as friends so I try to wash my hands with them too though I do not always remember. Although, if I walk by I want to be able to stroke or pat one without having to run off and sanitize first.
However, when I work with them I almost always wash my hands especially if it is with their hair or nude bodies. I also remove my nail polish if I can remember in time because I have had that scratch off onto them as well.

    10. I think it's a good idea to. I don't notice how dirty they get until I change their clothes, then I notice dirty marks around their neck or hands where I've handled them :blush I should know better, I ahve a very 'dirty handed' job.

    11. I Prefer Washing My Hands So No Oil Are Dirt Gets On The Doll.

    12. I wash my hands almost everytime I bring out my dollies unless I am absolutly certain my hands dont have anything on them that may dirty or harm my dollies, especially because I need to use certain perscription skin creams for a skin condition I have and that I draw and work with chain and scale mail which most of the time has an oil or somethig on it.

    13. I wash my hands if I am changing her clothes and when I get home from work. I wash them pretty thoroughly since work tends to leave ink and dirt stains on my hands. But if it's a weekend and my hands look clean and don't feel oily or anything I won't worry too much. I will wash them after eating and such as well.

    14. If my hands were dirty, I would wash them, but if they look clean, and I haven't been eating or anything, I won't go wash them. But I could understand why people would do it.

    15. Eh, I used to be really anal about it when I got my first doll because I had heard a lot of awful things about how the oils in your hands can rub off face-ups or damage resin. For the first month or so, I would wash my hands just about every time I went to touch him. Three years into the hobby and with a better grasp on how durable face-ups and resin are (seriously, it's plastic, expensive plastic, but still, plastic), I don't really care anymore. Granted, I'll still wash my hands if they feel especially greasy or filthy. Actually, my dolls tend to get a little dirty from time to time, but it's nothing a quick wipe down with a magic eraser can't fix. If they start looking shiny from a lack of sealant, I just apply more. It's not that big of a deal.

    16. Yes, I wash my hands before handling dolls.
Sometimes I forget what I've touch before, so in minimizing the risk to dirtying the dolls, I need to make sure my hands are really clean.

    17. Yes, definitely...clean hands are a must for me. Maybe it's just because he's my first and I'm very anal, but I am big on keeping things as I got them. (Aside from my personal customizations, of course)

    18. I always wash my hands or make sure they are clean in general when I touch any BJD. My face gets really oily quickly and because of that I wipe away the oil with my hands. Not to mention I put oil in my hair daily as a healthy hair treatment and I love touching my hair. Therefore, my hands are alway full of oil and I'm always aware to clean my hands before touching their precious resin skin^.^

    19. Yep! I wash my hands every time but one or two times I haven't so Ive checked if my hands were oily before I touch them! But yeah I do prefer it!

    20. i always wash my hands before handing my doll
