1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

What are your opinions on layaway?

Aug 11, 2012

    1. I prefer layaway. If I try to hoard the money myself I will accidentally spend it. I have to forcefully take the money away from myself when saving for things, layaway is a great way to do that.

    2. I would love to take advantage of layaway but as a writer, I have a very uncertain income. When I'm skint, I have nothing but moths in my pocket, when I have been paid, I have thousands in the my account as I get paid every six months (it makes lasting until pay day an art form!). It's frustrating as I only have a small window to buy a doll in and when you have to let bargains go, that's tough.

    3. I prefer save money and buy at once. I really hate live with debts and layaway is a debt for me.
But if someday I'll see doll that I really want and I'll have only about 50% of price - maybe I'll take layaway and pay out next month the second half of price.

    4. I am loving layaway. Without it, I wouldn't be able to get my boy. I would have regretted that for years.

    5. I think layaway is one of good way for buying dolls. there are a ton of doll companies and they make lots of new limited or basic dolls...and I dont have money enough every time, so I use layaway sometimes! I cant be happy with my account lol

    6. In my opinion layaway is good when you want a doll badly but can't afford paying fully at the moment
You can pay slowly a small sum each month instead of paying full at once
It is an expensive hobby n you have other life expenses
So it can balance ur payments more
      I had used layaway twice
Once for paying up for a limited doll I really liked it but I couldn't afford it fully so I asked them for a layaway
Other time I also customized a faceup and a doll the amount came up quite expensive so I also used layaway ^^

    7. Layaway is a blessing in most cases, ball jointed dolls are very expensive and therefore it's only fair to allow them to be paid off in small parts. I wouldn't have most of my babies if it wasn't for the power of layaway! <3 You just have to be careful and make sure you use something like PayPal so that the money is fairly given to the seller or refunded to the buyer if needs be. ^ w ^

    8. I'm usually too nervous to do a layaway. I always feel more secure knowing that an item is completely paid for and over with. Though, I've missed buying some dolls that way... Oh well.

    9. I'm looking to use layaway with impldoll soon so this is all super helpful. I'm really excited about it and grateful it's offered at all!

    10. I like the layaway system usually by the time your finished paying off your doll its ready to be sent your way, much nicer than spending X amount of dollars all at once and then having to wait, and wait and wait.......

    11. I love layaway. I would not have been able to afford Migidoll's latest Yujin sculpt without it, and I'm already used to setting aside funds for my monthly anime figure preorders, so this is pretty much the same concept. (Preordering figures has also prepared me for the long BJD wait times, since the figures usually don't release until a few months later- longer, if there are delays.)

    12. I loooovvee layaway. Something about spending such a large amount all at once scares me and actually kept me away from even buying a doll for many years. But layaway, I find the smaller payments easier to stomach and I can finally purchase dolls that I once thought would be impossible for me to ever own. Though I do admit it requires a lot of patience!

    13. I actually prefer using layaway. Mostly because I suck at saving money. Usually, I'll save a certain amount and then people will start asking to borrow and... Yeah. It never ends. But with a layaway, I can spread payments out and it only requires me to give up a single check or less.

But the best thing about it is that it makes the wait so much easier. There's no reason to get impatient about your doll not being here if you wouldn't even get it anyway.

    14. I definitely respect and understand why others opt for layaway plans, but for me I have never done this. I only spend the money I have, and if I don't have the money I prefer to save it in a bank account or piggy bank :XD:

    15. I've bought all of my dolls through layaways and the only bad thing is if halfway through a layaway you fall out of love with a doll and you can't cancel it. That's happened with my Loongsoul Bessie and I'll possibly be selling her once she gets here. We'll see how it goes...

    16. Nothing wrong with layaway. It´s a good idea for anyone who otherwise can´t buy a doll, specially if this doll is so expensive or limited.

    17. I'm really impatient, so I don't think it's an option for me, but I think it's great for people who can shell out the whole amount at once. Specially if you fall irrevocably in love with a specific doll and you don't have all of the money to pay it at once but can pay in installments.

    18. I love layaway option and it's okey that the seller take a little for it to hold the doll.. that just fine

    19. Layaway is an amazing option when certain BJD companies don't provide them themselves(looking at you, Volks). I've been able to acquire dolls that I would've not been able to get cos they were older or just didn't have the funds to cover their expense at the time. So, yes, layaway is nice. Plus, layaway can make it easy for getting your new dolly ready by getting them their eyes, outfits, wigs, etc in the meantime.

    20. Praise whomever came up with layaway. But unfortunately you have to wait a bit longer to be able to get them.
