1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

What are your opinions on layaway?

Aug 11, 2012

    1. I love layaway haha!! Whether it be a short or long one, I think it's great. Although the waiting can be rough :pout:

    2. Layaway is my liiiiife. I prefer to pay in smaller increments (though I pay more to get it over with sometimes haha). It's especially appealing when a doll is cast to order and would take months to make anyway.

    3. Hi all . I am not a fan of layaway because I do want the dolls quickly at home lol . But I do think it is a great way to get the dream doll ...if you cant afford the money after once for a doll.

    4. I would rather put it on my credit card and pay that down than put something on layaway. I'd be too concerned about timing of payments and payment dispute deadlines for such high amounts of money for the dolls. That's just me personally. Plus, I'd rather get the doll in my hands ASAP.

    5. Hah, I like layaways, I am so thankfull to Souldoll that give you layaway for 6 month! XD

    6. I'm in the process right now of putting a doll I have wanted for over a year on layaway as just too many things come up to have the cash in hand to buy him outright and I don't want to lose him, so yeah, it is a viable idea that allows people to end p with what they want. Do I like it? better than losing the chance of ever getting a dll I set my mind to but would rather just buy it outright but circumstances now get in the way for everyone to do that. Do you have to be responsible with layaways yeah, who wants to lose that kinda money over spacing something out

    7. I recently began my first doll-related layaway. I'm thrilled, because it meant I could get the doll while still staying in budget for both months of the arrangement. But I'm also incredibly afraid I'm going to forget to make the final payment next month! I've put reminders everywhere, just to be sure - I can't lose the doll now!

    8. I haven't used the layaway method yet, but for me, they are rather convenient. I hope to be able to utilize it soon for my future dolls. That way, I would be paying for them whilst they are being made, instead of paying and then having to wait a good number of months before they're delivered as they'd only start preparing your doll whenever you pay. (Talking about company layaways.)

    9. I love using layaway! It makes the wait time shorter and I can get everything else ready so they can have a full wardrobe waiting for their arrival.

    10. I feel like the layaway King.... But I'd rather buy my doll asap so I can get them quicker, but if layaway is offered I would definently use it if I needed to.

    11. Love layaway! I always choose this option when it's available, so much less stress on the budget.

    12. I don't like the idea of layaway principally because I'm concerned that if the other party fails to deliver the item at the end, how can I get a refund for the full sum if it's in separate payments? And many doll companies are horrible at communication and customer service, plus there's a language barrier, I don't want to risk error, misunderstanding, or other hiccups in the process.

I might do it if there was some kind of grail doll situation and this was the only way and likely only chance I could get the doll, but I would really have to think about it.

    13. As for me,I prefer pay in full, but sometimes,I don't have enough money, and I have to have a layaway(sometimes I love the doll so much,i am not sure when i can pay in full,he will be there or not,so i will pay with layaway, but in fact it's a bit risky, because you don't know the person who sells the doll),but i think ,a layaway shall be finished within 3 months,so even if there is some problem,we can solve it

    14. Love layaway! It allows you to get limited edition dolls without having to have all the money immediately available.

    15. I think layaway through an actual company, like DDE is awesome! I have a doll on layaway now through them. As for using it to purchase from an individual seller I personally would never do that, only because I have seen problem transaction on here where things go south on the LAST payment, and the buyer cannot be refunded anything except the most recent payment. I would be devastated to spend a ton of money on a doll and not get the doll and only get lol 1/6th of my money back, or less! Theres no way I would consider doing that.

    16. The way I see it, layaway is an option to get that expensive doll you can't afford in a single payment. It's the company offering help in a way so that you will still be able to get your favorite doll without the burden of forking up a huge sum all at once. I'm sure our life doesn't evolve around dolls only, there are bills to pay, school fees, other expenses and whatnot...unless you're really loaded then you won't need to worry about spending over thousands for a doll without batting an eyelash :abow:

    17. I think layaway is great, but only if you have a solid source of income, so as a kid with a part-time job I haven't really been able to take advantage of it :0 but once I'm out of the house I think it'll be a great way to pay for dolls!

    18. I can't buy something unless I have the money upfront. I get far to nervous about what might change in the future. I guess I sort of do my own layaway, put money to one side as I save up and then I buy it. I don't have many unexpected expenses, live a fairly simple life, so it's easy to save up by making some extra money with personal art commissions and other such things. It means I need to work harder during the time I'm saving up, but it's worth it to me!

My income also goes though ups and downs, so I can't rely on getting the right amount every month.

    19. I've never used layaway but I can definitely see the appeal it can have for other people. It'd be pretty rough for me though, I'm not the most patient person ever. However, if I was pre-ordering a doll or something and it was going to take months to even be produced anyway then I think layaway would appeal to me a lot more in that situation. Never say never I guess :)

    20. I have yet to use a layway but I would definitelly consider it. Althought I would rather save up for the ,,cheaper'' dollies. But overall I think its very nice that many companies offer this option :)
