1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

    2. Dream of Doll Ducan was the first BJD I saw on Google. Instantly fell in Love with him, and with BJDs in general. Of course I wanted to buy one right away, preferable Ducan. But I couldn't afford him back then. I did, however, have enough money to get a Dream of Doll MSD, so I chose Ivan. He's so adorable and to me he looked like some sort of mini Ducan, lol. So, Ducan got me into BJDs, but Ivan was my first. Thanks, Dream of Doll! :D:kitty2

    3. I can't remember how, but I found the Dream of Doll site back in 2006 and felt in love instantly with Ducan, but at the time I was only a teen with no money and limited knowledge of english. I got my first doll in 2012, a DoD Ivan that I loved a lot, but I didn't adapt to the MSD size and sold him a couple years later. He was very important to me due to the sense of achievement of finally purchasing my first BJD :whee:

    4. I stumbled across BJDs in 2014/15 on tumblr. I fell in love instantly but when i found out about they price, i thought, i would never own one. In 2020 i already forgot about them but then i saw a face up video on youtube and wanted on again. I earned my own money now so i could afford them and started searching for the perfect 1st doll. I saw Doll Zone‘s Ji-Zero and loved her right away. Sadly i missed the pre-order but they head another cute android girl, Mist strayer, and decided she will be my first doll. She‘s 1/4 and i only collect 1/3 dolls now, but she still has a special place in my heart <3

    5. I was looking for this exact thread.
I first learned about bjds on deviantart in 2012-2013. There was a particular creator who had a custom-faceup Dollzone Aimi, styled with a redhead mohair wig. I wanted a doll like her so bad. After recently rediscovering her, I'm gonna be looking for that sculpt secondhand everywhere.

    6. Doll Chateau Gladys was the first BJD I've seen, and I was in awe with her. I was very close to buying her fullset last year. I still like her but I think she's the kind of doll I'd rather look at than own.

    7. Luts Dark Elf Soo, I saw a picture of her as Ariel and instantly fell in love with her. So I saved up for my very own and made her into my OC.

    8. The first bjd I actually saw was back in ye olde creepypasta days, someone's custom. At the time I was of the age where £50 seemed like a fortune let alone £500, so I was pretty decisively put off that once I saw prices. I then hit bjds again years and years later via a brief dabble with monster high customs. Lavilyday did a video about her Littlerebel Andre and mentioned the final Aleksander order that was in-stock, I adored the sculpt and got him in tan. That boy is actually sitting beside me right now, he's still my favourite [even if he did have a bit of a time finding the right body].

    9. Angel Egg Marmite Sue by Eli Effenberger and the Enchanted Doll by Marina Bychkova were the dolls that got me interested in collecting BJD. Their easthetic is something that always tugged at my heart.

    10. For me first dolls were different bjds with makeup from Kai Hara also known as Paranoia Dolls. They were awesome! I’m very sad she doesn’t make makeup anymore

    11. The Voice Dolls by Yukilovecomic, my Ying was my first BJD. I named him Silas and that is how I came up with my name on here actually! :)

He is in my profile picture too.

    12. The first dolls that drew me into the hobby were Popovy Sisters dolls. I just love how delicate and detailed they are!

I ended up not purchasing though since they are more difficult to get directly from the creators in the USA.

Then, I discovered Pasha Pasha and was thrilled to learn that she and her team are based in New York! I was able to take over someone's pre-order and got an Original Nerve in Sand and Salt last November. ;) She was my first BJD!

    13. For me, the first "I gotta have it" doll was Soom's 2015 Teenie Gems: Han and Asronn, the coyote elves.

Before that, I had a couple ABS dolls, but no resin ones yet.

    14. I wish I knew exactly what doll sparked my interest! But I was 12 when I saw a BJD for the first time at an anime convention, and I was taken with them. Couldn’t afford it then. Much later, if you do fashion doll repainting, BJD’s usually pop up as the next step and I was completely taken when I rediscovered them!

I looked them up on eBay, and the first one I fell in love with was an Iplehouse FID Oscar. I didn’t really shop around much before I clicked and just brought one home xD so he was my first introduction to the hobby.

The doll that really sold me on the hobby, got me into fully crafting and creating stories, was my Nanyalin/Magic Mirror Levon. I saw him and an entire story just began to unfold in my head. By magical circumstance, she had one single doll left in stock, and he became mine. I’ve been sunk ever since hehe :)

    15. The first BJD I saw was a Hujoo Sara that a family member owned, but I didn’t get my first bjd until quite a few years later. Back when I first got interested, I couldn’t afford them, but now I have a nice little collection.
