1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

What fits an IpleHouse EID woman?

Nov 19, 2009

    1. WOO HOOOOOOOOO!!! That's a relief! Thank you!! I think I'm going to have to just make patterns for my Jessica with Glad Press & Seal. It's really good if you need the pattern to fit exactly.

She sounds like her measurments are going to be tricky. I'm definitely making the 'Sock Dress' for her that was suggested here, until I can make patterns.

I have a feeling these shoes at Mimiwoos might fit her:
      http://www.mimiwoo.com/product_info.php?products_id=2156
She has them in several different colors and they're on the large side, and that extra strap can be used as a belt as well. I'll post pictures of the shoes if they fit when Jessica gets here.
      Thanks again!
      Kathy

    2. Press & Seal? I've never heard of making patterns with that...do tell!

    3. I'm assuming it's similar to the way I make form fitting patterns - I take painter's tape (very low tack) and put it directly on the doll where the garment is going. Then I draw on the style lines of where all the seams need to be. Peal off the tape, cut along the lines...voila! Instant pattern pieces.

As I said, this is only useful for really form fitting pieces - I mostly use it for bras and corsets. Also, remember to add seam allowance before you cut your fabric!

    4. Glad Press 'n Seal:
      http://www.glad.com/plasticwrap/pressnseal.php
It's kind of like Saran Wrap or Cling Wrap, but it sticks to its self and sticks to the doll--WAY better and comes off when you want it to, and is stiffer than cling wraps. You can shape a garment around the doll with it and just smoosh it down and cut it off the doll where the opening will be. Cut up the areas that will have darts, etc until you can lie it flat on a peice of paper. Trace that pattern, fold it in half to make it symetrical, and add your seam allowances. I've heard of people using it to make shoe patterns as well. I've made bodice, skirt and panty patterns with it.

Jessica seems like a perfect doll for the Glad Press 'n Seal patterns because her measurements are so different than any of the other bjds and modifying existing patterns will be a challenge.

I could see painters tape being used the same way, but the Press 'n Seal is wider and can be cut down to skirt size, or whatever, instead of having to add more. I've also used it wrap a doll before I cover it with Duct tape, pull it off and make a dressform--without putting tape directly on my doll. But, who knows about these Jessicas---they may be perfectly happy with an outfit of cling wrap alone--provided there are some nifty high heels involved, lol!

      I hope this helps!

      Kathy

    5. I would never have thought to use Press & Seal to make patterns! What a great idea! Maybe my Jessica will get some new clothes now!

    6. I'm glad I could help! I didn't invent the idea. I wish I remembered who told me about it so I could give credit, but it's a good one. I think that's going to be the only way my Jessica gets clothes around here.

You would think the Dollmore Model clothes would fit them. I've got a skirt and a top here that's too loose for Fin, but I'd hoped would fit. I'll post when I find out. Thanks to whoever started this thread!
      Kathy

    7. I make my patterns out of paper kitchen towel, using a similar method. I wrap the body in the towel, tape it all round with Sellotape, draw in seam lines etc then carefully cut it off. And, yes, it is the ideal way to make form fitting clothes for this girl.

KathrynB, if you look back in this thread you will see that we are gradually finding out which Dollmore Model clothes fit. It is generally the stretchy ones, unsurprisingly. But, yes, if you discover any that we haven't yet, do post them.

    8. MMM- Any chance you can post your pencil skirt pattern?

    9. Ok, so I bought 2 pairs of SD16 shoes from Volks cos I heard they fit....well the 2 pairs I got do not even come close :...( they don't really fit my LuLu either so I don't know what I am going to do with them :| these are the 2 pairs I got:

So poor Viv does not have any shoes :|

The hunt goes on. I guess I am going to try some regular shoes for the Modle girls and see if they will fit.

    10. Cheryl....these white strappy shoes are Volks SD16...needed a little stretch but not much...

I need to pull out each pair of shoes I have had her in and take a pic of all of them together for this list. Maybe next week after the convention.

    11. This Press N Seal sounds interesting. Does anyone know, is it basically like parafilm? That's what I'm picturing in my mind.

    12. Thank you!! I saw that. I'm also having a lot of fun looking at pictures of other people's Jessicas. Thank you so much for starting this thread!

Where did the handbag come from that Mauzi is holding in the photo where she's seated in the chair? I would love to find some little retro handbags!

I'm not sure what parafilm is. Press N Seal is sort of stiff and a bit crinkly. But, it's flexible like cellophane, but not as stretchy. It's a bit heavier than cellophane and not as frustrating to use.

      Kathy

    13. I see. Sounds interesting, but not like parafilm. Parafilm is a film made with paraffin, I suppose it is similar except that it stretches a lot. I would be a little concerned about using something wax based on a doll though.

    14. Is it just me or has this thread gone OT?

    15. Sorry! My fault! It started out talking about trying to make patterns for Jessica's curvy figure and went from there.
      Sorry!!!
      Kathy

    16. I think that this "wrap" is Metohde very good for beginners. I make my patterns similar for human. I once tried the "wrap" pattern, but for me it is not perfect.

      Yesterday other Jessica's outfit I finished .
I changed these top-blouse pattern: not so close to the body, other sleeves and neckline is little deep.
I will continue to perfect my pattern make. I have so many ideas, but not so many time.

About Jessica's shoes, some days ago, I bought these shoes on eBay (later my photos) :

      # 1 http://cgi.ebay.de/Super-Dollfie-SD...emQQptZLH_DefaultDomain_0?hash=item53de1e53e8
fit very well, even with pantyhose / socks and Jessica can stand very well.

      # 2 http://cgi.ebay.de/Shoes-Boots-1-3-...emQQptZLH_DefaultDomain_0?hash=item53de2d48c6
these shoes fits ( slightly close ) with high heel foots and Jessica may also stand.

    17. I like those boots. The other pair has insane heels 0.0 and awesome outfit btw.

    18. I have these (can still post a pic on Luna if anyone is interested) and I had to take a paintbrush handle and really stretch the straps to get her foot in. Once on they fit okay (the back strap is a little too loose for my taste) and she will stand, but I wouldn't take my hand away too far! :P

    19. these are by Dollheart and she stands in them. They are SD13 heeled foot size.

    20. Oooh! Those are very nice Pam *goes off to look at Dollheart*
