1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

What if seller on MP refused to sell doll because of planned customization?

Jul 18, 2015

    1. I don't think it's really any of their buisness. Unless your friends or something. If someone is *that* concerned what's going to be done with it, maybe they should just hang on to it.

    2. I think she'd be an amazing nymph! The paint itself almost has a grainy feel, and complete with forest ensemble it'd be awesome! Do you have a link to her project journal? I'd like to follow this project.

I have a friend who got an Iplehouse doll for paint/extensive mods. I'm not sure I could ever do mods like that, but if you know what you're doing and /you/ love it--then you should do what you want. :)

    3. I once did this. I had a doll I really loved. Only problem was I so wanted her skin to be a bit more pink. Then the company (iplehouse) started selling more skin colors. It took me a long time before I decised to sell her and get the color i really wanted. I was really scared that i would not bond with the New one the way i did with the old. Then the first prospective buyer told me she wanted to do an extreme gore mod on her. I looked at the flickr and deviant account of this person and her mods where very badly executed. After see in this, I just could t sell her.

    4. If it was a doll that I felt a particular attachment to, I might take some issue with a buyer that wanted to do heavy mods or something that might hurt the doll. However, if I've made the decision to sell the doll, it's because I've made the decision to sell the doll. So it's really no business of mine what the buyer wants to do with it once they've paid me! The whole point of BJDs is that they're so very customizable, and if the buyer doesn't mind parting with the funds to do something that might potentially ruin the doll for whatever reason, I wouldn't mind letting them do it.

From a buyer's standpoint, I'd be pretty frustrated... but I guess it's within the seller's rights to refuse any sale. I might ask them why (if I could get over my shyness enough to do so), but I wouldn't press the issue. Mind you I'm not a customizer so this issue likely wouldn't ever come up!

    5. I pretty much feel like if they're gonna sell it then they don't really have any say in what happens to it. I mean, obviously they can choose not to sell it to someone if they wish, but I think that that is a pretty silly reason. Just my personal opinion. :)

    6. 1. If you sell a doll you no longer own it and have no say in its fate.

      2. Sellers do not have to sell a doll if they don't want to.

      3. What anyone feels about any of this is a separate issue!!!

We are allowed to sell a doll and be hurt by what the next owner does, or we are allowed to not care a bit. It's not the business of anyone else what a person feels, right? Everyone feels differently, and emotions can be complex. A person can KNOW they shouldn't care what happens after they sell a doll, and maybe with some dolls, they don't care, but sometimes feelings can creep in. After all, it's a doll that they bought and loved at one point. Emotions are involved at least to some degree.

I think it's reasonable to have mixed emotions about all aspects of buying and selling a doll.

I KNOW the doll will be out of my hands if I sell. BUT I do know that what happens to the doll will affect me emotionally--maybe only a little... maybe a lot, depending on a lot of factors. And I can definitely see myself NOT selling in so many cases (I'm pretty much a hoarder, so that tells you something right there).

There are a lot of dolls out there and the buyer can just go look around for one that is available to play around with... Ideally, from an owner who doesn't care what happens, or enjoys extreme mods, etc.

Judging happens!!! It might not be negative... The buyer might not want any changes, good or bad, happening, and they have decided they want the doll more than they thought. Nothing bad on the buyer, aside from inconvenience and frustration, which is kind of bad, but just the way it goes. Sellers have to put up with people not paying the amount they hope to get, or dolls not selling at all, too... so it's not fun on either side sometimes.

Anyway, people will have opinions. But as long as they don't behave in a nasty, personal way and try to be polite and civil about it, that's the best we can hope for, I guess.

    7. I don't mean to sound cold, but once you sell it, it's the new owner's and it's their's to do what they wish with it. Now having said that, if I were to have to adopt out one of my cats or my dog (and that would be pretty dire circumstances), I'd be checking them out and their plans in any way I could think of.

    8. Well... maybe it's best not to discuss how you're going to change the doll with the old owner in the first place. It could be hurtful. And they could decide not to sell because of your plans! *_*

    9. Well, to be fair, once you've sold it you have no say, and that dolls aren't living beings, so it's not like selling cats/ dogs at all.
But if someone tells me he/ she's buying a doll from me for recording adult videos, then I might decline... or at least erase the faceup so that it no longer looks like my doll.

    10. I think part of my frustration over the sellers refusal to sell the doll to me was due to past experiences with other sellers. I once bought and paid for a doll in full on the MP only to be totally surprised when I received a full refund instead of a shipping notice. Apparently the seller's friend talked her into keeping the doll. In both cases the reasons as to why the sellers changed their minds were bluntly stated. I had no choice but to eat my disappointment.

I think sellers should only put dolls up for sale that they sincerely want to sell and with no restrictions. Potential sellers should think the possible sale through carefully. Do they really want to sell the doll? What if someone wants to modify it? Am I willing to work with someone on a layaway? What happens if the buyer is late or needs more time to pay? Am I willing to help the buyer out? Or would a deviation from a plan drive me crazy?

If a seller has any reservations at all they shouldn't list the doll. I care about my dolls and rarely sell them and every purchase I want to make is carefully thought through. Plus I get excited when I find a beautiful doll that I can afford like the doll I wanted to buy. I thought I'd have to buy a doll that was damaged or sold for pieces only. Basically a "junk" doll. To potentially have a BEAUTIFUL doll was super appealing to me.

I think that a buyer has as much emotion in a potential sale as the seller - maybe even more!
