What if someone else opened your doll?

May 26, 2010

    1. I would hate it. I remember when I once ordered one of my favorite TV series and my mother opened it up and thought she had baught it for my brother for his birthday and gave it to him and he scratched the hell out of the second disk before I even got home. I can see something bad hapening to a doll I buy if my parent opened it first. God I know exactly what would happen. They pretty much live in this room we built (we call it their den) in the garage for them to smoke in and that is where mom has the mail and packages brought for her to open. She would open it, laugh at it, get cigarett ash all over the doll then put it in the most lewd pose she could think of and leave it out in the Den for me to find when I get home several hours later. god just spending a few seconds in the doorway Den talking to them and I have to change my clothes. 15 years smoking in a small 8x8x8 room and never cleaning the walls or airing the place out does that. Oh god I am going to have nightmares now T-T

    2. My parents have never once even considered opening my mail - when I am away at school, they will set anything I get aside for me to open when I come home for the weekend. They don't even read my magazines. When my first doll arrived home, my mother put it on the kitchen table before leaving and called me to let me know it arrived, but never once even considered opening it. Now, if I had a package sent to my college dorm, and for some reason the RAs opened it... all hell would break loose. I would make sure they got fired for such an invasion of privacy.

    3. Initially, I would probably be very, very P.O.ed. Then I'd start crying! ;w; Opening up new dollies is a very special thing for me, because of the long wait and anticipation. If someone opened a package addressed to me without my permission, I would feel like they had just opened one of my birthday presents because I was too slow or something...

Thankfully, my mother and her boyfriend are very respectful of the things that I receive in the mail. If I'm not around when something addressed to me arrives, they just put it in my bedroom or leave it on the table for me! :)

    4. If it was customs I wouldn't mind at all, its probably bound to happen at one point anyways. Though if my sister or someone was too impatient to see the doll and just decided to open it up themselves, then I would be a bit upset by that. But luckily everyone in my house are respectful of any of my mail, and will leave it unopened for me.

    5. I would probably cry, and then want to attack them ^^'

    6. I usually love the box opening of my dolls, so if someone did it before I could I certainly would be at least a bit upset. At the moment I don't really have to worry about anyone opening my packages- my parents are really good about respecting my space and everything, and if something comes for me, they just put it on the stairs or in my room. However, I'll be sharing an apartment with some roommates this fall, and it's quite possible that we may have to have a talk about boundaries. I get lots of packages due to my constant online shopping, and I would honestly be utterly furious if my roommate opened my boxes.

    7. I am actually surprised my mom never tries to open my boxes whether it be a doll or a figure. My dad on the other hand...>.>"

    8. I'd be pretty upset. Especially if it were my first doll. (I have yet to get one) I think I'd probably cry and be too upset to talk to that person for quite a while.

    9. My first reaction would be to rip their throat out O.O but then after I get over my anger I'd prolly cry v.v It would be like a father missing his child being born....

    10. I don't want anyone to open my mail generally... but if a family member opened a letter on accident that's one thing. Now... a package is hard to open on accident. O_O; Expecially a huge box that you have to sign for like most of my dolls have come. If anyone opened my doll I'd be mad. I love the thrill of ripping open the package in a frenzy and leaving all of the other things I'm doing at a standstill! After waiting so long I really want the thrill. It's like when you are a kid opening Christmas gifts but the excitement is far greater!!

    11. I would be very pissed off. Opening the box of the doll is just the first moment you and the new doll share. It's a treat for the long wait and if someone else takes away that moment it's just sad. Stealing the first resin-fumes, tssssk ;)

I won't be very angry I suppose, but I would tell that I'm very dissapointed in that person, since the package is adressed to me and it's about the same as opening someone elses mail.

Luckily, I live with my boyfriend who doesn't care about dolls at all xD He would just carry the box inside and put it somewhere where he can't trip over it. My parents just put the package on the table when I still lived there, so I guess I was lucky.
If I would have been away for quite a while, I think I would ask someone to open the package for me to check wether everything is ok and nothing is missing.

    12. I would get annoyed, and I'm antsy about this happening, because now I know my mom has the freak tendencies to not care and open packages even though they're addressed to other members of the family. She justifies that "we're a family so we have the right to open/share anyone's things without them complaining." Urgh. Love my mom, but she's just obnoxious sometimes and since she was the oldest child, naturally thinks that she's got the authority to do things like that >_>

    13. This happen yesturday. My mom works at a school so she has the summer off and I work at a daycare. I asked her yesturday to wait on the mail lady to get my doll so I would not have to go to the post office as I am leaving on a trip and did not have time to get it the next day. She did and I call before I got off work she said yeah I got it. I get home and the box is open and the dollbox within is open. The doll is still in the bubble wrap but the other stuff in the box has been just push around.

I ask my mom and she it like yeah I open it I thought I should see if it was broke. I told her I was mad and she just brushed it off. My doll was fine and I never asked to open it. I have once when I was away and a doll arrived and the outer box was badly damaged just to check to make sure the doll was ok but this was with permision.

She did not have permission yesturday to open my doll. I got over it but still I told her next time not to open my doll up. My mom does not even like my dolls I think she just a nosey nelly -_-

    14. It has happened to me with mail and some packages that my mother has opened. But, I told her not to open them, since I want to make sure everything is fine.

I told her it does get me mad that she opens my stuff. Now, she does not do that anymore, since she knows that I will get mad.

    15. It has not happened to me yet, but I'm pretty sure that I'd be annoyed if someone else opened a doll-package before I did.

    16. TThey would have to run away. very quickly.

    17. That would NEVER happen ;-)
I would go in totaly chok if another one opened my dolls :-/
My heart beats very fast when I am opnening my boxes :-D
It is like christmas hehehe :-D
Also when I am waiting on the box to get her, I often get sick :-( Just becorse I am sooooo exited ;-)

So no one can opened my boxes hehe, maybe my mom and Guinea Pigs can help with the box hehe :-)

    18. My dad has been out of work for years, so there's always someone home to accept deliveries.

However, even with that, there's been times where we've had issues:

Once, my dad had ordered me a manicure/pedicure kit from the TV. We waited awhile for it, and we called the company about it, that it had been shipped, though we never got it. Long story short, they ended up sending us 2 more, because it'd happened a second time. Finally, my dad wen to the post office, and someone asked if the attendant if they'd checked this other guy's desk. Sure enough, ALL 3 were there. Shady, yes, but not the last time.

And it's not just because we ordered it from the TV because - once you get past all the other offers they push - you do get your product. But, we've ordered other things online that surprisingly never came. And the worst is when we order things that, when we checked the tracking said they were delivered, my dad and I was there, waiting, and they had not been delivered. People at both FedEx and our regular UPS have done this, and still do it!

And what I think is the worst out of all of these is when we had a package thief in our complex. This is from the example I told you about when I said that we'd never receive things. We ordered 2 cans of really good popcorn, and only received one. We think we know the person who has been stealing it, and we think she thought she wasn't doing any 'harm' by taking one of our boxes. And no, we don't think one bit she had taken them because people were @ work. We even did a test to see if someone would take something, so we'd had this huge box, and took a smaller, electric shoe-shiner box and filled that with rocks, and put it in the huge box, sealed it up, and put it outside. Sure enough, we checked back a few hours later, and there had been a cut down the taped seam, though the 'decoy' box wasn't stolen. We suppose they saw it was a shoe-shiner, and nothing 'good', and decided to leave it.

But there's good news - if you want to really call it that. The woman who we think has been doing it passed away a couple of years ago, so we've never had that issue anymore.

But if one of my parents opened a box with a doll in it, it wouldn't matter to me. Nothing exciting there.

    19. Now, if it was someone I didn't know, then I'd feel vandalized. As we had when people had stolen things.

We had a lady once hold onto the packages on our floor, but she did it so nothing was stolen, because she went to my dad and said something came for him. Usually, people in our building tell the delivery guy to leave it with our Super, but something happened once and we stopped doing that.

    20. I think I would be irritated and annoyed at first - maybe a little worried too - but as long as I saw them okay and intact, I would be fine. They are still mine and I still (may not apply to everyone) have a lot I need to buy to finish their uniqueness. But I have had the same feeling when someone opened up something that came in the mail for me. I was quite angry but I got over it quite quick. Though when it comes to christmas presents - it's a different story hahahaha
