What if someone else opened your doll?

May 26, 2010

    1. My sister got excited and opened my Luts Tiny Delf Louis. I was a bit annoyed, but I was also kind of happy someone else enjoys bjds in my house. I'm trying to get her to buy herself a tiny delf (so I can open it before she gets to muhaha! jk ahha she loves them)

    2. In general, I like to open my own things. Partially, it's because I'm a private person and I don't like people going through my stuff. It's kind of disquieting for me when people even look over my shelves, let alone open up my mail. In that, I think that I would be extremely pissed off if somebody opened any of my packages, save for my husband. However, additionally, I really, really, really enjoy opening packages, to the point that my dear husband lets me open his boxes (when he's around, of course). In that, somebody would be stealing my package joy, and that would make me sad.

That all, of course, pertains to every kind of package. I think with a doll it would be even more upsetting, because I wouldn't get to be the first one to lay eyes on the new boy or girl. I know I felt that way with my Liam. To explain, he was purchased from a local doll shop; they had him in stock and my husband wanted to get him quickly, so we went with what they had. The sales lady brought his box out, set in on the counter, and then proceeded to unpack him for me. I think that she honestly just wanted to show us that we were getting what had been ordered, but I didn't really care for her forwardness with my property. Especially considering that in 99% of stores, clerks don't open your purchases for you. Overall, it felt a little diminished for me, because she opened up his box first. To be honest, I repacked him during the car ride, and then re-opened him at home. It made me feel better.

I think that if I ordered a doll and had been waiting for it for months, I would be very upset if I came home to find him/her unpacked, dressed, and set up. To be honest, though, I would be perfectly fine with my husband opening the box to check on everything, just so long as I could be the one to 'open' up the doll box. By that, I mean, taking the doll out, dressing him/her, putting the wig on, etc. Anybody else, though, would really irk me.

    3. uhhh...

why people be touchin my mail?

on a serious note, it depends on who opened it. If my room mate did, I don't think I'd be angry. I don't get much out of box openings anyway. I'm more excited when the doll is all put together <3

      If my parents did, I'd be mad because they're not exactly the most cautious of people ^^;

    4. I would be mad, but more than anything I would get depressed. I've never been one for anger lol I love opening my boxes. I even love watching people open their boxes. Especially when it comes to a doll. My fiance, though, hates opening anything. Whenever he gets a package or anything, he'll always go grab something from the kitchen or put something away and tell me to open it.

    5. I have had a couple of people in other countries have their dolls sent directly to me, one for customs reasons and the other, more recently, had her MomoColor girl sent to me so that I could make some clothes for the doll to go home in.
On the first few occasions, I was asked by the owner to take photos for her and then send her on home. I just did that and didn't have much feeling at all about the dolls involved.
However, the most recent one, little MomoColour girl, because the owner is a good friend of mine, I felt sad that it was me who was opening her doll instead of her as she was so excited about receiving her new doll.....so I took photos anyway and sent them on to her. I then made the clothes and sent the doll home to her new mum.

    6. I will feel a little sad because the first person he/she saw was not me T.T
Other than that, I dont care much.

    7. I would be really annoyed, my mom does this to me all the time with anything and everything I order online unless I specifically tell her not to, and even then she still might -.- If someone opened my doll I think I would be a million times as annoyed, especially knowing that my mom cleans and cooks all day and that her hands would be all oily and stuff when she would touch him D: And then she would leave the opened box on the stairs where my two 2 year old brothers could just go up and attack him -- I would die.

    8. I'm so afraid of this happening with the doll I'm waiting on now! She's being sent to my parent's house so someone will be there to sign for the package, and I'm scared someone else is going to open her box. I'll probably be really upset, but I'm trying to mentally prepare myself in case it happens. :...(

    9. If one of my housemates did this to me I'd probably boil with rage. Fortunately, neither of them is likely to. If my husband did, I'd be okay with that, though I would be surprised. He knows how much I like opening boxes, even if it's just something boring I bought for work.

    10. I don't know if I'd be MAD, but I'd definitely be annoyed. Thankfully, most of my immediate family knows that I'm pretty possessive of my things, including my mail. I've had a friend buy a doll for me and of course she opened her up to check for damage(plus I wanted to see her), and I'm OK with that. I even gave her permission to play with her. But otherwise, I think it's kind of rude to open someone elses mail if you don't have permission first. If it doesn't have your name on it, don't open it.

    11. I have had a friend try to open one of my dolls boxes when he arrived. I got pretty angry and I actually had to shield the box from her so I could open it myself. I mean... I understand that she was excited as well... And I was having difficulties getting the paper off the box, it happens sometimes...
I would not get snappy or aggressive but it is personal mail.

    12. It would make me feel super uncomfortable. I tend to be quite possessive of my things and mail is just one of those things. I honestly care less about the opening and more what the person may think when they find out what's inside. >.< Thankfully, my parents repect the "don't open other people's mail without their permission" rule. I don't know why anyone would think it's okay to open another person's mail.

    13. My mail gets sent to my grandma's house, and even though she is nosy and likes to mention "that package says it's from japan!" she would never open my mail. Actually I don't know anyone who would open my mail without my permission. Though, if someone did, I would die! No matter what was in the package. I'm a very private person and would feel totally invaded.

    14. I get angry when people open my mail >:( someone if my family opened my university acceptance letter and it just killed the moment for me. So if someone opened my doll, well i think i would just go insane! haha. But after the university letter incident i explained to everyone that i dont want them opening my stuff and its been all cool.

    15. my stepfather is the world's worst about opening my mail. i would be so.... ugh! i don't even know a word for how i'd feel if he opened a doll! i would probably cry and scream and kick XD

    16. Meh. My mom has opened three dolls that I've received. Two came while I was out of the country for extended periods. She opened them at my request to make sure everything looked good, and she even sent me photos of them, which made me happy. The third was also opened at my request--the post office decided to forward the box to her, even though it was addressed to me and I live in a different state. That wasn't a happy time.
All in all, it doesn't bother me. If it were someone else (not my mother, but say...a stranger), that would be a different thing altogether...

    17. Mine was second handed so I didn't get those opening the box moment, but I do get them when I get stuff for her like clothes and acessories

    18. Yep, I had someone open my doll, the post office. I guess they thought I was a drug smuggler or something, but yep, opened the doll the right up. I was, of course, furious.

    19. I think I would reflexively feel furious, then logic would assert itself and I would calm down but still be grumpy. It's like a present/treasure you were waiting for and paid a dang bunch of money for, at least you could be the first to make sure it is awesome :(

    20. Hm..guess im really ok if its just my mum opening my doll boxes because i've taught her to make sure her hands are clean and not to touch the face, i had to ask my mum to open a few dolls for me when i was overseas just to check that everything was alright.

But I once had a shock when i came home and found my new doll lying on the sofa under the fan, my mum told me it was because when she was delivered her box was so heated up from having traveled around the back of a van she was afraid my doll will continue to "cook" if left in the box.
