It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

What if someone else opened your doll?

May 26, 2010

    1. I think it depends: if a friend did it, put it together and did something special with... for example, if I then got home and my doll was waiting for me with open arms and a bouquet of flowers or something like that, then I'd think "wow, what a good friend and an awesome doll I have"
If someone was just opening ir for no reason, I wouldn't be too impressed at them stealing my happy time

    2. i would not be very happy!! it had my name on it after all, they had no right to open it.
only time i ever opened a package on a friend it was when we both got the same off-topic doll and i wanted to make a pattern for a dress. so at least she did not go home with him nakkid, and he understood since it took me some time to make it.

    3. I don't like others to touch my stuffs not only dolls. I will feel they are intruding my privacy. So far my parents never opened any of my parcel.

    4. I think I would slaughter the one who did it @@ I'm having a hard enough time knowing that the customs open it when it arrives at the border.. ): But if someone I knew just opened it; because they could... Oh my... I would be upset and angry and.. Just really really angry. I have some complicated feelings about used things and things that have been "tainted" before I could get to them. It would be a long night of swearing if that ever happened. Luckily my parents and siblings know that my dolls means everything to me and wouldn't dare touch them in any way. They don't even come close to the closet where they live :)

    5. If someone else opened my box I would so flip out. For a few reasons. When I am waiting for something to come I am alone.(I make sure I am and that everything is cleared up for the day. So that if it does come late I'm here and ready for it.) So for someone to open my box they would of had to do it before it got to my home.

Now if for some reason I forgot what day it was and it was the day of the delivery. If someone was there, and they opened the box as I was getting the camera. I would so flip out again but I would keep my cool and say everything is okay.(Even though inside it's not.) I would also be sad I did not get to enjoy the opening of my box. It be like if someone told you the full movie you were going to watch before you got there.

I would still be cool with that person. I just be upset for awhile.

    6. My husband opened my very first doll, knowing that I was going to wait until Christmas, but he just couldn't wait to see it. Being that it's my man, I'm not mad but glad that he has enthusiasm for my hobby. If it was anybody else I would feel violated. What's in that box is a piece of my soul!

    7. It doesn't really bother me much, as box openings have never really been that special to me. It's the doll matters most. The box is just something I have to get through to have that doll. As long as the doll is with me in the end, I don't mind if my friend or parents had opened the box before hand to take a sneak peak. I will often send boxes to my friend's house to avoid my parent's suspicions that I may be spending too much on dolls, lol...XD So usually, I ask her or give her permission to check it out to see if everything is alright beforehand. If she sends pictures, it's only a plus. (o:

I only had a box opened without my permission once by my parents, but I didn't really think of it at the time. I was too excited over seeing the doll to really take notice of the box. xD

    8. I wouldn't be very happy about it, but so long as the doll isn't damaged I can't say that I would be angry or too terribly upset. In fact if the doll was already posed with wig and eyes and everything, I might thank them for saving me the work!

    9. Hmmm, can't say that I've had such a thing happen to me. Thankfully, my parents are extremely respectful in that aspect and always leave MY packages for ME to open. If they did though, yeah, I wouldn't be happy about it. In terms of when the mail people handle it? I don't think it's happened....or I just didn't notice, though I wouldn't care if they did.

    10. im fine with it as long as they will not do any damages on my dolls.

    11. This would be a problem if I still lived with my parents--my mom used to always open and read my mail, and then usually hide it from me--but since I don't live with them anymore, and since the person I do live with wouldn't damage or hide my doll, I don't care. I'm happy as long as my doll arrives undamaged.

    12. I'd be devastated. That's like robbing us of witnessing their entrance into our lives. D: It's also an important part of the bonding process.

    13. Aw man, the post office mixed up a parcel containing a doll I ordered, and I got a letter asking me to tell them how much my order cost so it could go through customs. That's fine, except they claimed the package was from Britain instead of China for some reason, and I had no idea what could possibly be in it so I gave them my permission to open it and check so that it could go through customs.. Turns out it was my doll.

So.. yeah. Someone else actually opened my doll. All I feel is intense worry, they could have taken the bubble wrap off his hands, they could have thrown his faceup protection mask in the garbage, they could've done anything, there is strong likelihood that they don't know how one should handle a BJD. And I don't know until I receive him, I guess I'll just have to trust them.

I cannot feel violated like I thought I would, because I technically gave them my permission. I just feel worried.

    14. I would make them wrap it back up in the box exactly as they had found it to the T and repackage it and everything and then stand outside the door like a delivery man and act surprised when I opened the door and get all excited so that I could re open it

    15. ugh forget just the unboxing stuff... i get pissed off if someone uses something first. I HAVE to be the first person to use something of mine.
Its been that way since i was very little- I got one of those educational games computers when i was like 3 and my brother was using it before I did, so i pushed him off a chair. Ahaha I think im nicer about it now because im grown up, but yeah. That makes me mad.

    16. I am sorry to say this but I think I would scream. I would so much want to open the box myself.

    17. I think it's pretty normal to feel upset over something like that. Like OP said, if it were christmas why would someone else open your present for you? (unless of course you were physically incapable of for some reason and you needed help)

I would probably sit by the box all unexcited because my favorite part about getting (expensive) things in the mail is opening the box! If I got really upset I might even consider selling the item I bought because it wouldnt feel "mine"... Ironic, seeing as I just bought a doll secondhand XD It's slightly different though because buying 2nd hand is more like adopting a pet from a shelter-- Might not have been originally yours, but the first time you take them home is special.

    18. I get excited when I receive mail, so I'd hate someone opening it. I can't even stand when my dad asks me what's in a box (even though usually it's just like, a new reptile or fish thing). I hate when people don't put my mail in my room too and just leave it on the sofa or whatever. I live with 3 young girls and they've nearly crushed my laptop before from playfighting, I worry they'll break my parcels.

I'm worried my dad will ask what my doll arrival is :I

    19. I would be so angry! I always get packages sent to me from everywhere, I hate when people ''accidentally'' open my mail. My fiance, has the same initials as his brother though, and it makes me mad when his bank statements get opened, then his mum ''checks them incase'' Its bollocks I think, shes nosy and jealous of his earning so much money, then proceeds to tell him how to spend it, thats why I tihnk I get so mad. As for my packages, I like to savour the moment anytime I open a package, I take pictures and same labels etc. I have mild to mid asbergers' and am very particular in things like that :P I have a pile of hellokitty labels and korean/asian packaging.. I also collect squares from christmas wrapping, along withthe tags.. this may be why I get annoyed at people opening things too! :p

    20. I think the only exception would be if my mom opened it because she IS buying me my doll. (BIRTHDAY GIFT PEOPLE I didn't beg for him I tried to insist on paying half way.) And because I still live under her roof...But given she loves seeing me open my stuff I will of course be the first to open his bag, first to unwrap him and first to hold him so..Yeah.
