1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

What if someone else opened your doll?

May 26, 2010

    1. I would be so upset! Mostly because I would be saving so long and hard for the doll and to have the experience of seeing the box and getting blasted with the smell of resin. Maybe it's this weird duckling thing I have "D: If my doll sees someone else first, she'll like them more!" Haha, It's mostly because the box opening will be the victory and reward moment. I told my mom if I ever do get a doll please please don't open her, she said "i don't want to see your naked doll!" So no worries there c:

    2. The first bjd I ever got was a gift from my mother for Christmas. She thought it would be a good idea to open it for me so I wouldn't have to do all of that Christmas morning... To cut the story short I was pretty heart broken. I didn't want to appear that way for fear it'd upset her (The doll was a gift, and not a cheap one so I didn't want to upset her..) But I was pretty floored. I guess it kind of made me unable to bond with the doll as much as I would have been able to if I'd opened her myself, as silly as that may sound.. I literally felt like crying T_T.

    3. Just so I avoid using nonPG13 language.

I would be super, inferno, insanely :x

      Like beyond

There would be hell to pay.

    4. I would be very upset, but if the doll is a gift from my parents, at the end I could accept it, as long as they pay it the doll to give it to me! lol

    5. Having someone else open the box is like being pregnant and then being absent for the birth.

On a scale of 1-10 (1 being okay, 10 being very not okay), this situation would rank at 100.

    6. I would be really mad, I love opening my own mail even if it's bills haha

    7. xDDD Totally agree!!!

    8. i hate when people open my mail and or go in my room.....so ya i would be a bit ticked off. knowingly i paid a pretty penny for the doll, and i wanted to be excited when opening it.

    9. I really dislike it when people open my mail, just seems really sketchy and nosy in a way but I think it would be fine if they got rid of the outer box but didn't touch the actual important box, which belongs to the doll. The doll box is what really matters and is only to be opened by myself and others can watch if they would like.

    10. I totally agree also! What a brilliant way to describe it! Waiting so long probably feels longer than 9 months too XD

    11. I don't know if this has been mentioned yet, but opening someone else's mail is against federal law in the United States and classed as a felony. If someone else opens your doll before you can and without your permission, you can totally press charges.

    12. I would honestly probably cry..I'm very sensitive about my personal belongings/space. I always keep my door closed and it's fine if my family brings in my mail and sets it on my bed or desk..but any farther than that and I get a little ornery. :(

I guess this is kind of personal...or was...but last year I had a situation where I had to wire a LARGE amount of money to someone very close to me. When the reciept for the wire transfer came in the mail from my bank (I don't know why because they gave me a receipt at the time I did it physically at the bank..) my mom thought it was for her because she goes to the same bank. So she opened the letter and saw what I had did and how much it was...she wasn't upset but it was something that I really had wanted to keep a secret because it was so personal.

I don't plan on keeping my doll(s) secret, but it's that same sort of personal thing, you want to be the one to find out/see something first and if you want to share then chose to after the fact.

In regards to pressing charges for mail opening...I don't think I could do that against my family, I live with them and it would only cause unneeded stress. My boyfriend also has a lot of things shipped to my house and asks me to open them for him and take photos so he can see the condition they arrived in (he buys off ebay a lot and it's cheaper to ship to me). If it was a different venue like a school/apartment/workplace that I shipped to and someone who is not part of my immediate family/my boyfriend opened something that belonged to me I would most definitely consider pressing charges.

    13. I'd probably get very angry, more than angry if it was my brother since sibling rivalry is a pain. I'd be angry mainly due to the fact that for the first time in my life my mom is letting me keep all my CNY money just so I can get my first bjd and only for this year, So she probably wouldn't open the box, but my brother on the other hand can be the stupidest jerk at times who doesn't think things through, and if he opened my first doll for me... Well, the situation in our house might get worse than cats and dogs from pure tension until I eventually forgave him with a very brutal kick.

    14. Strange as it may be, I wouldn't have a problem if the actual package/box was opened. But I'd be horrified if the doll was out of the bubble wrap (or their sponge coffin in iplehouse's case). I usually tear the box apart in no time but I VERY carefully remove the bubble wrap one step as a time... it's my little ritual in a way of "discovering" my doll one inch at a time.

Oh and also if the EMS label was missing or torn I'd be FURIOUS! I have always collected them, they're sort of like an official and legal "birth certificate" for my doll, as it says when it was shipped and when it arrived to my home.

    15. I don't think other people should open someone else's mail ever, in general. It's a violation of privacy and if you don't have any kind of permission just rude. I would raaaage like no one's business if someone opened my doll, or any of my packages in general. >;(

    16. I would be so very mad. I hate people touching my belongings . After such a long wait i would be disappointed not to have the satisfaction of opening my own doll !

    17. I'd be pretty hacked since I live with my parents while I'm going to school and it's my mail, with my name on it.... technically since I am older it would be a federal crime to open my mail without my consent... so... yeah... I think though that I would still be excited somewhat since I technically did skip a step and I did buy the doll to enjoy it so... I would still be happy I got my doll and eventually would get over the fact that my family failed at life for a few moments...

    18. I wouldnt mind. If anything, I would kindly ask them to rewrap it for me! I wouldnt be angry or anything, usually I carefully inspect things as I pull them out.

    19. If someone other than me opened my doll, I'd be screwed, because it'd be my parents  (Trying to hide hobby from them.)
But in general I get preeetty annoyed at people who can't read the addressee on parcels before opening them. It's like they're thinking the world revolves around them and that every parcel is for them...

    20. I would FREAK out!!!! As any bjd owner knows - I DREAM of that moment for so long. The time it takes to pick the doll, save for the doll, and then have the doll made and shipped.... Nobody is opening that box but ME!
