1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

What is a unique bjd you would never own but love the sculpting and/or concept?

May 2, 2019

    1. 100% Story of Seventh Day's Horus. He's beautiful, and I adore Egyptian mythology, but he's just waaaaay to big and expensive for me.

I'm a shorty, and even my YID and SD-13 boys are kinda heavy for me, so even though there are some gorgeous tall boys and girls from companies like Ringdoll or Loong Soul or Soom, I would never get any 65+ cm dolls. I also tend to stay away from tinies under 16-20 cm (unless they're an anthro/pet) because my brain cannot justify spending that much on a doll when I could buy Nendoroids/figures in the same size for much cheaper.

Fantasy dolls as well - Resinsoul just made a really pretty msd sized centaur, but I don't know if I'd ever get a centaur over yo-sd size because I just don't have the space right now. Same goes for SD with big chunky fantasy parts, or dolls with long "tails" like mermaids or the Miracle Doll snake demon or Dollzone's current dragon tiny. They're pretty, but I feel like I'd be limited as to what I could do with them once I actually got them.

    2. Most of the smaller 1/6 Dollzone. I can't justify the price even with an event. i have enough non-bjd dolls that size, honestly. I love looking at everyones dolls, but unless I can think how it would fit in my collection, I definitely have to pass at least for now. Who knows, something may change my mind down the road.

    3. There are many, but the first doll I ever felt that way about was Dollzone Moment. He was one of the first "unique/ nonhuman" dolls I ever saw early on in the hobby, and I absolutely adored the sculpt. However, I would never own one. He's too big for my taste, and honestly I feel like I couldn't do the sculpt justice.

    4. 35cm is still below a standard Mini size. And I've seen them go for $800+, unless you can find one modded. I had hoped to snag a modded one for 300-something, but someone got to it before me.

    5. I can't say I have seen any that have been heavily modded. Wow. $800. That is a lot. I'm still a little confused on her size. I have seen her posted as anywhere from 29 cm to 35 cm. Lol.

    6. Here's the rerelease post from 2016: https://denofangels.com/threads/triffony-artwork-sphinx.726032/
Her base price was $920 excluding shipping.
The modded one I saw for sale had its eyes modded open more and had its chest sanded down. Because of this, the seller was asking much less than they had bought it for, prior to modding it.

    7. I don't know about 'never', but I'm not a big hips kinda gal... but some artists dolls are like that and also super interesting in jointing, sculpt, etc. SO I get interested anyway.
There's an artist sculpt I want just for the sleeping head variation.

    8. I absolutely LOVE Doll Chateau Evangeline
I think she's such a beautiful and elegant sculpt but somehow I could never see myself owning one.
I also really like seeing dolls with fantasy skin colors like green or blue but I don't think id own one myself

    9. Honestly, 90% of dolls from Doll Chateau. They are gorgeous but I feel like they are sort of complete, there's not much I can do to change or play with them, if that makes sense? Like a cartoon character that remains static.

    10. I don't know if it is really unique as without the scar I could never tell it apart from a hundred other similar dolls (and I cannot, it took me long to realize they also exist without said scar). But I really like Soom Hyperon with the scar across the eye. Soom just doesn't have the kind of style in their dolls that I'd actually want one of their dolls with my current gang, but I enjoy seeing owner photos of this sculpt.

I also like many minimees (e.g the Ezra Miller minimee by bluoxyde on Instagram is breathtaking and unique and I am weak for realistic BJDs). However I'd find it odd owning a BJD copy of a real life person, as I couldn't really paint/customize them as anything else than their real life counterparts, let alone come up with any story for them, but again I'll admire from afar.

    11. This doll. It's amazing ... but I do not have, want or (usually) like big/adult/male dolls. My biggest doll is 18"/46cm and I don't think I would want larger. My human dolls are all young, cute and female (the doll has breasts? I'm out). So I won't buy it, but I'm very impressed by it.

    12. Thanks for the thread link... it will take a while to read all this ^.^

    13. Charmdoll Jonasson--the one with only top half of the body in skeleton shape. Its such a brilliant idea and looks absolutely amazing, however I am kind of scaled of skeleton doll in my house.

    14. I don't intend to buy doll from Granado, at least at this time, but I'm really impressed with their head and upper-body sculpt.
A mermaid, elf and centaur is also things that I might admire if the sculpt suit my gout. By that, I think Plaice from Impldoll is a beautiful elf though...

    15. I love Popovy dolls so much and would actually love to own one, but I feel like the upkeep to do justice to those pieces of high fashion art would stress me out/destroy my bank account too much. I recently talked myself out of yearning for one and will instead live vicariously through other owners :XD:
