What is the most obscure/rare doll or doll head you own?

I would say that most of my Domuya dolls are somewhat rare. Specifically though Day and Night are numbered and there are only 20 of each of them. I also have a few event heads, one of which there are only 50 made and the other I'm not too sure but you had to buy a doll during Christmas to get it. I also have a DIM Squall minimee which only a handful were made of him for the group order. And maybe Dollzone Keai as well? I don't think he was that popular and he was discontinued within a few years of release.

 

My most rare doll is my LE Dolls/ star spangled dolls Vincent Vampire who is one of a kind ever made. A few years ago I bought him from the person who had run the company years ago, and they said he was the resin prototype doll professionally casted before the doll was released, but the company stopped operating and his release never came.
I have a lot of uncommonly seen dolls in my collection, basically from having collected old dolls second hand that there wasn't much demand for I suppose. And I don't know exactly how rare any of them are, but there are several I've never / or only a couple times seen anyone's owner pictures of.
Happydoll Luke, never saw another owner. My old Bimong narin n611 I have never seen any photo of except on Bimong's Flickr from I think 2008. Doll in Life Rydel, have seen only a couple at best. Angel region Fair Kai in natural tanning I picked up last year, and I heard he was never popular even back when. So, those are good examples maybe.
I think it's kind of funny reading this thread how many of these old and obscure dolls I remember having seen in my internet crawls loved at one point or another, some random ones people have were even on my own wishlist. it feels really exciting when you learn about dolls you haven't seen before, that's always been what gets me.

 

I'm not sure if they would be considered rare but I have a lot of dolls that can't be replaced, like my Angel Fantasy boys (company closed) or my Doll chateau Douglas (the tan I got him in is no longer available, and my modded Withdoll Nei head. (His mods are really well done and I don't think I could ever replicate it) Also my limited Luts Kid Delf Bory, he has the romantic eyes and elf ears here is a pic of him on Flickr Screenshot_20220930-140623

Oh, wow… many of mine was rare. From bjds that with me right now it's probably AngellStudio Ellie (event head, din't saw more of them at all) and Domuya Faith.

 

Probably nothing to brag about but I own one head of my grail twins from Dream of Doll (Tender Too and Bee A version). I don't think DoD is that rare but def harder to come across due to the shops closure in 2014.

My Lati yellow happy unicorn centaur Ian probably my rarest. I can’t confirm but I think she’s around an LE 30 based on a post in bjd collectsasy.

 

Uh... maybe my DearSD Vanessa? I haven't seen many of them around. Not exactly obscure haha

 

I think my rarest is SeedArts Peabody. I've only ever seen one other painted head out there.

Oh wait no, my Rarest is a tossup between Unidoll Suri, afaik there's ONE other one out there somewhere,

and DIM Doll 2009 Gift Head, who is currently Copernica. I have never seen another. Doll In Mind is gone now.

 

Probably Florian, my Elfdoll Vampire Red, only 40 made. Although I own a BeYours Catseye, and have never seen another on the forum, or any pictures online outside of the original sales photos. I also have a DIM Sergei head, which is on a DIM girls body. Another I haven't seen pictures of.

 

My most rare/obscure is definitely my Doll Love Silver Goal. I have only ever seen photos of one other one. He wasn't limited or anything to my knowledge, just a very unpopular doll from a company that seems to not be around anymore (or at least, I can't find them anymore).

My Latidoll M is also relatively obscure, as that entire line was not very popular- the current discussion thread for that line is literally still the same one that was started in 2006. And presumably there are a decent number of the Luts SDF Winter Event head from 2014 floating around somewhere, but the only owner photos I've ever seen are from the previous owner of the one I now own.

I'm never really sure how to quantify "rare" in my collection - most of the older dolls I have, like the Soom Sphaler or either of the old Delf boys - were pretty popular when initially released but became less so over time as the hobby gradually changed tastes. I guess it would be a toss up between the Smoky Quartz Shiwoo or HZDoll Schuster Fei? Both are extremely limited fullsets produced when tan wasn't a regular offering from either company - that particular shiwoo predates the CP/Luts split. I don't think HZDoll is even around anymore.

 

Hmm I'm honestly not sure how to classify 'rare' at this point. I'm pretty sure none of my dolls are particularly rare, at least not in the sense that like...a super-limited run doll would genuinely be 'rare'. Nor are any of them obscure in the sense that like small-scale doll maker sculpts probably are?

For my dolls, I think the fact I can't find a ton of owner images of them comes from the fact that they're now quite old and discontinued in most cases, or simply unpopular lol.
I have a Luts Breakaway Dreaming Vampire '05 in the 'beauty green', and he's been modded to have his eyes a bit open. He's obviously a bit 'rare' due to age and the fact he's technically from a limited-run, and is no longer being made.
I also have a Luts Lu Wen, who is also no longer made as far as I understand it? Since Cerberus Project is technically 'gone', or rather under a different company umbrella now.
My Fairyland PukiPuki Pipi doll is also a bit hard to find owner pictures of, and I can't quite tell if the 'PukiPuki' line of tiny dolls is discontinued or not lol.
Lastly is my Luts Woori, who is not discontinued but is apparently a very unpopular sculpt lol. I barely EVER see any pics of other Woori dolls.

 

My rarest head is Nabarro's Boys Har. LE 50, I think?

Though my most unusual doll is maybe my ghost boy. I special requested transparent resin for the head from Dragon's Shell Doll and the body from DF-H and I don't think there are many others out there.

 

Revising this! I have an Aimerai Big Baby Weedy Sugary Wonderland. I've never seen another one... I don't even think they even make that size anymore.

 

Wouldn't say rare or obscure but my DZ Ji-Zero Cyborg girl is definatly my most unique sculpt so far and was my first grail when I joined the hobby, and I love her dearly

 

I have a Kdoll Kasis head I've hybrided on a Dollshe body, she is amazing!
I also have a Serendipity Noel. She's my first doll and still with me.

 

I don't know for sure what I may own that is truly a rare doll...but I do think I have some fullsets that I haven't seen many if any other ones....I have an original Soom Idealian 72 River with his fullset...since then he's been re-released...but still when I first ordered him he wasn't popular so there are not so many of his glorious outfit. I even have the crown...but haven't photographed him in it for some strange reason.

Funny story how I came to own this head. I bought a full set Flora on Goodwill.com with gold card coa and box, original release. When I opened the box, inside they had included an extra head, too big for Flora and not of the faceplate variety. Hum, what do I do with this? He was not photographed in the listing! It took me a while to figure out who he was, and even longer to discover he's on the rare side. I'm saving him to work on when my skills are more developed.
He fell to me from Doll Heaven!

 

"rare" but not of very high value would be my Doll Family A Angel. I think there's been one or two others of the sculpt on DOA, but he definitely wasn't very popular (official photos probably didn't help, they made him so plain) and now he's no longer sold

otherwise, I have a boy from vita_magica (also no longer sold, I bought one of the last ones before the sculpt was discontinued)

aside from these two, everyone in my collection is pretty common
