1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

What is the worst part about being a BJD collector/owner?

Dec 20, 2011

    1. I echo the troubles of storage, and the damage they do to our pockets.

    2. -the wait
      -the money
-and falling in love with a limited doll that has been sold out >_<

    3. I agree with Archangel, finding a doll you totally love then finding that it is sold out is gutting.

    4. The worst thing for me is LE dolls. They always seem to be released when I don't have enough money!!
Even when I save up for them something important always breaks which I need to fork out for instead :...(

    5. The worst thing about this hobby for me is how much space it takes up. I like to display my dolls, so that's a lot of space taken up. Then their boxes take up even more space... and oh heavens, their wardrobe. Keeping my clothes is already a problem, now I need to deal with more clothes and props LOL.

    6. This!!! You never have enough money. Never...

    7. Waiting weeks for things to arrive in the mail because I'm too broke to afford EMS shipping can be annoying.
But that's just because I'm impatient LOL.

The only other thing is not having money for clothes and all that for my girl.
I'm determined to get a job ASAP to have cash to indulge in this addictive hobby. ;)

    8. My biggest problem is not with the expense or the wait, but with wait times being misrepresented. If a company knows from the outset that their published wait times are unrealistic, for whatever reason, I think it is their responsibility to let people know what is going on (not specifics) and then keep them up to date on progress. This has happened in the past and the company imploded and lots of people were left with no money and no dolls. There is always a fear for me that this will happen. I am currently in this situation and I am sure that just a quick update, not to me specifically, but to everyone waiting for the same doll, would go a long way towards creating good will. I don't mind the wait so much as the not knowing.

    9. um Money ? TT_TT ima 18 year old bjd luver
its a very sad story x""O with starting college

i have to limit my self in everything to get a bit
of everything =.="" so ya money is tough with bjd

even if things get cheap there are always MANY items
and clothing with bjd that i die for and want ~

    10. for me its just the expense =/ i hate the fact that i still have one boy sitting in my cabinet naked

    11. It's kind of a toss up for me. I'm new to openly being within the hobby and having dolls of my own, so I haven't developed a thicker skin yet. People making remarks isn't a big deal to me, it's when I see people staring in a bad way and chuckling amongst their friends that gets to me. Between that and everything you need costing an arm and a leg, I dunno. I have more things I've yet to experience!

    12. I think the worst part is random people at conventions touching the dolls without getting permission first. Also finding wigs that I like, whenever I find a style I like, the color I want it always out of stock! Plus shipping time, I get really anxious waiting for new things.

    13. Worst part? When people come over and don't understand that these are EXPENSIVE DOLLS. They aren't something you can freely touch and play around with.

    14. One word, cost.

    15. Honestly, sometimes I get a little down on myself about the costs (then again, I do tend to take on many layaways at once!), and sometimes find myself in the odd moment of sad contemplation, usually when I'm down. Then the thoughts of 'If I weren't in this hobby I could save so much' come, but POOF! They go flying out the window real fast, especially when I see and hold my beautiful little ones again. They make it all worth it, really :)

    16. money for sure, not having enough of it~

    17. For me the worst thing is judgement. People think it's ridiculous to spend even 300 let alone 1000 on a doll (="an unneccessary piece of item with no real value in money") Even though it's my money and my business someone would always tell me to spend it on something more useful. I actually think that sometimes the high costs can be a good thing -it avoids the collection to get ridiculously big.

Also! The prettiest company face-ups are always limited, basic face ups are so boring :c

    18. Goodness. The cost is Number one with a capital N! The second worse for me is not having anyone else to talk to about it. There is only online forums for me, but it doesn't replace the feeling of wanting a living breathing person to talk to and share stories to.

    19. The wait, the cost, worrying about if a company will discontinute a doll...

    20. I feel most of you. I have to say the number one thing for me is the wait. Not hearing from the company when they don't ship on time. The fear of losing $100.'s of dollars because you don't know what is going on, and if you will be able to get your money back after you have waited 8 months or more for your doll, that never can. Like someone said I really don't mind the wait, as long as they keep me up to date.
