1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

What is the worst part about being a BJD collector/owner?

Dec 20, 2011

    1. Having enough room to properly store my collection of dolls, wigs, clothes, stuff to make more wigs, clothes, and more stuff to make more stuff for my collection which is growing, and growing, and growing!

    2. Not having a nice place to display them all. And not having any nearby doll friends to talk, or play, dolls with.

    3. buyer's remorse or maybe long wait times? buyer's remorse setting in during a long wait time...while making layaway payments

    4. Long wait times and display room for dolls. I'm partial to larger dolls, but currently live in a 1br apartment with my SO. I try to keep them in out-of-the-way areas because my SO is creeped out by 3D (glass/acrylic/generall non-painted and light-refecting) eyes so that further reduces the space available.

    5. For me it is the cost, criticism about the cost, the waiting, freaking out about the wait if it go's beyond the estimated wait time, the "dolls are creepy" factor. My dad does not know about the dolls yet but once he does I know for a fact I will get the "aren't you too old for doll" thing. I don't get any support for the hobby from my family ad that's a bit hard but my best friend loves these dolls just as much as I do so that makes it a lot better.

    6. I think the worst for me, is falling in love with a bunch of limiteds all at once, not having the money for them, trying to MAKE the money for them and then... missing them altogether. xD; That and not having enough work space, for when I try to teach myself doll stuff. x_x The struggle is real...

    7. The cost; thankfully layaway helps but that seems to add more time to wait. orz
I've not yet ordered a doll, it seems to make me anxious- choosing which on top of having to commit to the price. Lastly, my boyfriends' hesitation in supporting this hobby for me- he doesn't mind it so much but we both work part time retail which is something he just wants me to wait 'till I have a better job to support the hobby. ;- ; /grabbyhands

    8. Layaways. I'm impatient and I hate waiting for my brats to be paid off. The only thing that keeps me going is the fact that all my sellers have been AMAZING people, and so wonderfully patient with my neurosis, LOL

    9. I share my room so space is a huge issue, especially since I plan on having at least 3 dolls in varying sizes. My ideal collection would be 8 dolls but the space I have is so limited. Plus the time I want to spend crafting when I work 50 hours a week and go to college. I am feeling with costs and wait times better than I thought I would though.

Oh and having doll friends. I would like to find people that I could meet up with and play and talk about dolls to...

    10. Understanding that doll is not eternal and become old very fast.
It's not comfortable to hide them from the sun.

    11. Long wait times are a killer, but the worst thing are the custom fees I get stung with every time!

    12. Price.
      Limited dolls because sometimes they're REALLY hard to get or you fall in love with one that no longer is in stock ;;
And layaways. I paid my first doll using layaway and I think it's more painful than paying the doll right away from the store.

    13. Always looking for " one more".... hah

    14. Too many cute dolls, not enough money :p

    15. Not finding the perfect sculpt for a character... or finding a beautiful sculpt but the company only sells the head :<

    16. 1)Price
2)Not finding the one doll I'd just have to have.
2b)Trying very hard not to freak out now that I found it.

    17. - Cost a lot of money on dolls and their stuffs
      - Waiting times for dolls to come home
      - No space for dolls and the storage for their boxes
      - Cannot stop looking and buying the news dolls

    18. Price, having trouble bonding, and the potential for buyer's remorse due to those.

    19. The wait and the cost... >.<

But space and understanding people/doll-friends are also problems...

    20. The cost. This hobby drains more money than anything I've ever done before, and a lot faster :'D
The second biggest is probably the waiting part. You get the money, you do your purchase, and then you wait for months and months!
