1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

What is your biggest fear concerning your dolls?

Oct 3, 2011

    1. I am really afraid of yellowing or any other kinds of damage. I love my dolls dearly, and have intention to stay together as long as we can. So, all of my dolls are protected carefully with my my heart.

    2. Well, I watched a documentary about the post and shipping service, and some people just fling heavily (labelled fragile) boxes around. I'd be terrified if my first doll came damaged! Especially as all of us pay alot in this hobby.
The other thing is restringing it looks so complicated, and if done wrong it can erode the joints and stuff...

    3. I'm afraid to leave my dolls out. Not because of yellowing because that will happen naturally over time, but because my cat loves them! He will lay with them and rub up against them. I'm afraid he'll knock them off a shelf and damage them. I only have them out when I'm home and I can keep a close eye on them.

    4. My biggest fear doesn't actually concern my OWN dolls.

I'm terrified that North Korea will attack South Korea and all of the doll companies and artists based there would be forever lost to us. (Yes... I realize that if that actually happened, there would be a lot more to worry about than dolls....but dolls!)

    5. Adalaire I second your fear - not just about the dolls in Seoul but everything - I'm a huge KPop & KDrama fan, & also if Seoul went so I fear would Asia (as in, WWIII starting there) so everything would change...I look at my dolls (or my anime/Hallyu geekdom) & now I immediately think of that :(

    6. I have two.
      1) Having a doll get lost in the mail. Even though you can get refunds, it still i an unsettling experience.
      2) Having a doll break, especially in the areas that are hard to replace, like body (not hands or feet). Or their face after I had given them (or someone else gave them) a beautiful faceup.

    7. I'd have to say losing them all (and my pets, and my other possessions) in some disaster like flooding or fire, or a tornado blowing through. That would be a huge loss. I doubt I'd be able to replace half of them, especially the few limiteds I own.

Also, ordering a doll and having it never show up. I think I've had dreams like that, where I ordered a doll, waited months and months, and it never arrived, and by the time I realized there was a problem it was too late to do anything about it.

    8. my cats sneaking into my dollie area when im not there and knocking them over so they get damaged... or gain some chew marks

    9. Having a doll get damaged in the mail, which has already happened to me (from a company, not from any of the members on here). It was really, really disappointing. Poor packaging was the sole cause of the problem. Thankfully they resolved it for me, but to this day the memory still makes me shudder. But my biggest fear of all is losing them in a fire. I feel like that is one of the few things that can utterly destroy an entire collection.

    10. 1) Having troubles, needing money and having to sell them.
      2) Someone else breaking them, on purpose or by accident.
      3) Them getting unfixable damages, eg stains on their face, making them not less beloved but ugly.
      4) Lost in the mail.
      5) Losing them, basically, that's what it's all about.

    11. OHMYFIKKINGAWD this brings back memories.....
Well. My biggest fear with my dolls already happened to me.
I LOVE my Littlefee girl. And I love sewing for her.
Last time I was making stuff for her, I wrapped her in a little towel, put her in a little pouch, and put the pouch with a bag of clothing, fabric, sewing notions and things in a little totebag and left for work.
The bus short turned, so I had to get off a few blocks from work, and walk.
I left the totebag on the bus.
I didn't notice till I got to work and went to unpack her to put her on my desk, and realized I didn't have the tote bag.
I called Mr. Drakes freaking out. Like, absolutely crying and sobbing.
He told me to calm down, and that it was going to be ok, and he was going to call transit and see what he could do.
I managed to stop crying after about 1/2 hour, and called him on my first break. He told me that he called, and the bus driver had the bag, and he was going to the stop to meet the driver to get the bag when he came back around from the other side of town.
I told him to let me know immediately when he had her. And he did. He sent me a text message saying he had her in his hands :)
One of my co-workers gave me a ride home (I work less than 10 mins away from home by bus) to pick her up :) I was so happy :)
      I love that man <3
But yes, my biggest fear has always been to leave my doll bag on the bus or on a seat or something somewhere.
Now I only take dolls in my backpack, my purse, or in a big doll bag that I would have a harder time missing somewhere.

    12. Well since my daughter was not alive when I had my two dolls long ago...her. A three year old seeing pretty dollies. I am so not prepared for this. I am currently trying to think of the best way to tell her that these are mommy's toys and that she just can't touch them!

A couple other slightly less horrifying things (if I can call them that) concerning my new dolls:

      1. The post guy leaves the box on my door step (it happens with my other packages...) while I am in class or out and I never even get to see them.
      2. My kittens eat EVERYTHING. I very recently lost my $50 Skullcandy headphones to them.
      3. That I will get them..and not bond at all. After the money and time spent waiting for them that would be awful!

    13. >.> I always worry if there is a fire and I'm not home to save them. Weird, I know ...

    14. Dropping my dolls is my biggest doll-related fear! I have terrible wrist problems, it can be a real struggle to carry them around...

    15. I am mostly scared that they may get stolen or lost in the mail before they arrive. Once home, I feel better. harleyfae

    16. Mine is that by the time I'm able to make money more easily and have enough space for all those on my wish list, the companies or sculpts will be gone/retired/whatever. I heard something about Dollzone discontinuing some sculpts and I nearly cried. D:

    17. I have a big issue with personal space and things like that so as proud of my babies as I am, I really really hate it when people touch them and the fear of them dirtying my dolls or breaking something by accident always springs to mind whenever I carry them out. T__T

    18. -forced sale.
      -getting scammed.
      -forgetting them.
      -theft.
      -destruction.
      -damage.
      -dolls coming to life.
      -dolls being possessed.
      -damaging someone elses dolls.

    19. I think my biggest fear is that my dolls will be damaged or destroyed. I live where there are tornadoes, so during the peak months I usually like to smuggle my crew into the basement if the weather's bad. Then there's the fear of them falling or breaking when I'm working with them. My dog is pretty good about keeping away from them. She''ll sniff them and walk away or just look at them, but I won't leave them alone with her. I also don't like bringing too many dolls to meets or places because I worry they might get stolen. I also tend to get ansy when dolls are shipped. (Again, the getting lost or stolen or broken in transit thing makes me squirm.)

    20. I would say damage-to the heads really. Bodies, I am not so worried about.
Or at a meetup accidentally damaging someone elses.
Being scammed out of my money and doll too.
Also being stolen while in transit- or getting delivered to the wrong person.
