1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

What is your biggest fear concerning your dolls?

Oct 3, 2011

    1. That I am going to damage them in some way .... dropping them, having them fall over, chipping joints, rubbing paint off. I'm extremely careful when handling them, but I still have this fear. :)

    2. My biggest fear is if someone like my aunt, uncle or cousin (someone in my family tree) say that my doll is scary and I should just sell it back. Of course I will never sell it but sometimes they can be persistent and bugging me until they never heard about it anymore.
Hope this won't happen, maybe they will even say she is cute, maybe:sweat

    3. I always worry that my dog will one day grab one of my dolls by the head and chew it up ;_; omg just thinking about the poor thing with teeth marks

    4. My biggest fear of the doll hobby is a doll falling over or getting damaged in some way. O.O I'm also more cautious about which doll I buy now, since I need to make sure I'll like the doll in person. That's not as big of an issue of a doll getting damaged, though, as I would feel extremely sad and upset if I had to replace one of my dolls... if that would even be possible. :(

    5. I guess him falling over and getting damaged or getting a big scratch across his beautiful face-up. Or maybe not yellowing gracefully.

I thought I'd be horrified to lose him in a fire or something similar, but recently my high rise's fire alarm went off (false alarm, thank goodness!) and I just packed my cats up and got out. I didn't even think of my doll until I was in the lobby with everyone else and even then I wasn't cursing at myself for not grabbing him. Though by the time I got to the lobby I had the feeling that everything was going to be okay (no one was really panicking and there wasn't any smell of smoke in the air), so that might have been why I wasn't too worried about him.

    6. Them rising up and killing me in my sleep.....

    7. I am worried that the movers will steal or break them. I have moved to three different countries in the last five years for my job, and while my job pays for and insures the movers, I have had my Nintendo DS, PSP, and all my games taken right out of one shipment. Insurance paid for them, but this year, the corrupt customs agents have stolen things out of my shipment, and the packers threw away all the outer shipping boxes for my dolls before I noticed (it's a big house) and started stuffing the loose dolls into each other's boxes. WHAT. THE. F*#K. So I think my fear that eventually dolls are going to go missing or get broken is a very legitimate and terrifying fear. Getting the insurance money to replace the doll would not FIX the problem since there is no replacing a doll you have had for years and have done faceups for and made the wigs for yourself.

    8. Present my BJD to someone, the person takes my MNF in her hands, she hold her by the wig and the doll falls on the floor and broke into pieces because the wig doesn't take good the head.

      ...

Yes, I really need to buy silicone cap, I'm starting to have nightmares about it. XD

    9. Honestly, If you can move your dolls yourself, as in pack them in hard suitcases, I'd do that and take them with you, maybe as carryon luggage. Pack them like you're going on a trip with them and with clothes/their pillows/soft things and that way nothing should happen to them. There is a thread on how to pack your dolls for a trip, you can use that as a guideline. Good luck!

:o WTF? By the hair? Really?! smh Oh that's easy to solve! Just show them that the wig can come off, that way they shouldn't grab them by their hair.

I think right now, my biggest fear is that my new girl's body gets lost in the mail. But I know that chances are that her body's company has insurance on her. But its still something to worry about.

    10. Not long after I got my first doll I was taking pictures of him in my patio and he fell. He was not unharmed, in fact the resin at his elbow joint chipped a little. Until I got the nerve up to sand, and smooth the chipped area I wrapped his arm in a scrap of fabric as if he were wearing a cast, as if he were a real boy who had broken his arm skateboarding. I no longer live in fear of something like that happening.

Now I think my biggest fear is getting my newest boy and discovering he is a recast, or stolen, or something like that. Especially since I purchased him off of E-bay.

    11. If you bought him through a legit dealer, then I wouldn't worry too much. Through someone else...*shrug* You take your chances. Good luck.

But now that you mention it, buying a recast or a stolen BJD IS a legit fear. That's one I have as well. :shudder

    12. That doesn't work when your collection is all 60cm dolls and up and you can only have two bags, period. My Spiritdoll Herculean takes up a carryon all by himself. I was just expressing fears, not looking for advice, but thanks for your concern. :)

    13. That is part of the issue they are just a person selling several dolls on E-bay. Most of the sales seem rather legit. However though I bid and won the doll part of me wondered why it was not selling for more, which is why after the fact I began to worry. Even going so far to look on here to see if someone has reported a doll of this sculpt stolen. Thankfully no one has. Then I see all these things about recasts and now I am worried about that. Of course I will see when he arrives, maybe. I may not be able to tell even in person. *_*

    14. Not a problem, I love helping people! Most of my dolls are 60cm or larger, so I can totally understand!

But why did they throw out the boxes? :? I'd be mad too! Good luck with your next move!

      Ryu

    15. They threw away the boxes because "unpacking" my things was part of the service they offered. I don't know why they started throwing away things that were clearly NOT shipping boxes from the company that had the company's name and description on it. :x

    16. Melting...I know it's not very realistic but this is a common nightmare of mine. Maybe it crops up so often because it's silly? I have dealt with more serious issues involving dolls before (including buying several dolls that have had either undisclosed breakage or mods, plus one memorable one that had actually been stolen) and everything has always turned out okay by keeping a level head, working through what I can, and occasionally enlisting an experienced customizer. I guess maybe because I don't actually have that many legit doll fears left, my brain creates an impossible situation; there's really no salvaging a doll that is a puddle of goo!

    17. My biggest fear is being judged by others for collecting dolls (ie: You're soo weird, Doll's are for kids...).

Next to that it would be my cat knocking a doll off the table. Our cat Ruca loves to go up to things that are near the edge of the table, and just push them closer and closer to the edge until they fall. Last night she discovered my dolls (meaning she actually took notice of them for the first time, even though I've been collecting for a long time), and since then I've caught her three times getting up on the table to mess with them.

Our other cat, Knox, likes to eat things he's not supposed to, namely my Pullips feet. So I'm pretty afraid of that happening too. At least with BJD's you can buy replacement feet, unlike poor Pullips.

    18. :o WOW! What happened that your doll melted?

      Ryu

    19. Lol Ryu, I just have nightmares about dolls melting. Even though I live in Florida it hasn't actually happened yet. ;)

    20. The biggest fear is about doll being lost somewhere after sending it for face-up. Heard many scary tales about lost packages with tracking number of different types so i'm afraid it can happen to my dolls.
