1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

What is your biggest fear concerning your dolls?

Oct 3, 2011

    1. Because I live in a dorm, Im terrified of other people touching them without permission.

I have a single room this year, but I still have a suitemate (or rooms are connected through a shared bathroom).
My suitemate is a good friend of mine and I like her, but last year when she has hanging out with my roommate, so messed with my Monster High dolls .. so I wouldn't put it past her to mess with a bjd without permission either ...
      (´・△・`)

    2. I worry that one of these days I'll trip and fall- and a doll will get knocked off the shelf and come along for the ride.

    3. My fear is that a doll I ordered will come in broken. I know that they can be fixed but I hate waiting and im a natural fumble figures anyway.

    4. I sometimes fear one of my dolls getting damaged by falling over if I'm trying to set them up for a particular pose. Also dreading the day I will need to restring them.

    5. My three year old stepdaughter asked if she could have Lucy the other day and I almost had a mini heart attack. I didn't realize I would have to start explaining the concept of "these are momma's toys which we don't touch." already. Gotta start buying her some barbies or something Dx

    6. I have had dolls leaning forward and fall on their faces, scratches and damaged face-ups, bad seamlines, not fitting clothes/shoes, but I could fix almost everything.

The thing I am most afraid of is, falling out of love, when my dolls yellow. I havent seen a yellowed doll irl before, but to me its terrifying to think, I would sell my lovely dolls, because of that reason... Yellow is a color, I dont like at all...

    7. I feel that so much :( I think about my pretty lady turning a sullen shade and I get so bummed.

    8. my biggest fear is my dollies getting stolen or they burn up in a fire

    9. That my SD obitsu will wake up in the middle of the night and start choking me for how many times I redid her faceup badly... :o

    10. I always have an irrational fear of things randomly blowing up in my face. So with my dolls I would say, The elastic suddenly snapping free and through their body causing the doll to fall apart and get chipped on the inside. Once I was tuning an instrument someone gave me and the strings were old so one snapped and hit me in the cheek giving me a small cut. So, even though it's not possible, I'm afraid of the elastic inside a doll doing the same.
Sometimes after I put a head back on a doll the s hook always seems a little too easy to remove and slip back so I am always afraid to move their head around when I put it back on. Thinking it will just slip out and damage the neck piece.
Falling is always a fear but I usually lay them flat before leaving a room or place my chair under them so they have something relatively soft and wide to fall on if they did.
My cat chewed on my sister's Barbey dolls when we were kids so that lingers in my head but he seems disinterested, he is older so teething isn't an issue anymore. Not like they're made of the same material anyway.
With ever new doll I have the fear of them looking at me and being possessed by a spirit for the first two days. But then I remember how to take them apart so whatever.
My boyfriend and I watch scary shows sometimes (apparently when he watches alone he will have an over active imagination for a month but if I'm around he doesn't for some reason). Anyway, one time I had the doll out and moved it for a moment out of boredom and was holding it. Heard a little sigh in relief. Apparently he thought the doll was moving on it's own till he saw my hand holding it. It was hilarious but worries me that I will have to hide them from him in the future.

    11. I like taking my dolls for photoshoots, so I would be scared if they somehow weren't secured in their stand and fell and their face got scratched. For DD, I would be scared if their face got a stain. I like most of their default makeup so it would ruin me if they were damage somehow.

    12. My biggest fear probably is that my dolls might get stolen. In my house when I'm not home or when I take them outside, somebody comes running straight at the doll, grabs it and is gone a few seconds later. I think if someone was trying to mug me I'd start screaming like crazy and fight them like a madwomen..

    13. That one falls of my shelf and breaks in 2 (or more) pieces.. Also, sending them off for face-up/mods and not receiving them back.

    14. Since, like most people in this hobby, I have no wiggle room with money. I fear that I'll get a doll and just not be into it, want to sell it and then nobody buys it. Then I'm out of my money and have to stare down a doll, that even though an inanimate object, somehow knows you tried to sell it... somehow. :shudder

    15. My biggest fear is them getting lost in the post.

    16. I'd love it if my dolls came to life! Haha.

Hm, my biggest fears are that I can't sell them if I ever get into serious financial trouble... like either nobody wanting them or having to drop the price so very low that it's just painful to let go.
Or that I lose interest and years later when I want to get back into the hobby I find my dolls yellowed, stained and damaged to the point where I just don't enjoy it anymore (ok if I ever don't play with them for years I will try to properly store them away so they cannot be damaged...).

A more common fear is when I have them standing up, you know how they sometimes just flip over their whole upper body... I am scared they do that and hit their own head onto their knees or something...I don't want damaged heads or broken noses!
Or them flipping back while sitting, thrown themselves off the table... geez some BJDs really have a suicidal streak.

    17. Dropping them on their face definitely. It happened when I had my old tiny delf peter and the faceup chipped. Definitely not something I'd like to repeat ever again!

    18. Biggest fear would be losing them in a fire, since I have no control over that. I'm way too careful for anything to happen otherwise, and they're not at risk for strangers touching them or anything. I guess second to a fire, I'm dreading yellowing and re-stringing, but those aren't exactly big fears. They're a part of the hobby. Just a part I'm not looking forward to. >_>

    19. I'm always worried I'm going to lose the Itty bitty screw that hold my little obitsu's head on. I've looked to see if I could get a spare but no one stocks screws that tiny.:ablink:

    20. Have you tried the tiny screws they use in glasses?
