What is your biggest fear concerning your dolls?

Oct 3, 2011

    1. Has anyone actually lost a doll to customs? I've been so close to ordering the Grace doll from Iplehouse but I'm worried she'll get lost/damaged coming into the country. Am I being completely crazy for worrying about it?

    2. Since I have yet to purchase my first doll my fear is that when I actually do I will regret the purchase and not get as much fun of them as I am expecting and hoping...

    3. I think that was a fear in my back of my mind when I ordered my first doll just recerntly. But I was surprised to find that in waiting, I stayed constantly excited. I've had her for a week and a half now, and I haven't been able to take my eyes off of her. I don't regret a thing! I would just recommend really thinking about the purchase before you do it. Once you find a sculpt you like, sit on it for a bit. I sat on my whim for a week and then finally went "yeah, I can't stop thinking about this doll." Long story short, just don't make it an impulse buy and I'm sure you'll be okay! Absolute worst case scenario, you could sell it on the marketplace and probably get a lot of your money back if you did end up disappointed.

My biggest fear about my doll, I suppose, would be dropping her and cracking or breaking any part of her head. At least with her little hands and feet I could buy new ones or a whole new body, but with her face, it wouldn't be so easy to replace. She's a Luts Kid Delf, and, you know, Luts doesn't just sell most of their heads...

    4. probably that ill drop them and they will shatter into a million pieces and maybe that their face up will get ruined :shudder

    5. Aside from me breaking (or someone else breaking) any of my dolls accidentally, one of my biggest fear would be someone breaking into my home and stealing my dolls. :...(

    6. Since we don't have good heating/cooling in out house I'm worried about my doll's makeup melting or him straight up cracking because of the temperature. I don't know what I'd do if something like that happened!

    7. Biggest fear? I would say breaking the doll. Right now my new doll is strung to tightly so every time I touch it hands.. feet.. legs.. they go jerking or they seem to have a mind of their own. When I'm trying to put them back I feel like I'm going to break them. Or even, I'm scared I'm going to mess her face up. x_x then again, I did accidentally knock her eyelashes off when I was messing with her wig. I almost cried.

    8. Aside from breaking the doll, I'm afraid of never "finishing" one. And probably of falling out of love with a doll before it's even "finished".

    9. Dont worry about customs. There are two ways to get your doll from them.
      1. You go to customs yourselve and bring some money/creditcard and the papers that they send to you with you! And you get your doll immediatly ^~^

      2. In germany you can get your doll also via the postoffice. You send them basicly the papers that you got from customs with a invoice like a paypal invoice or something like that. However that will take a few weeks more. And it cost an extra fee for delivery.

I dont know how custom works in the country from which you are but i gues it is quite similar.

Ceep in mind that you have to pay custom fees.
So in germany it is 24,5% of the doll. 19% betterment levy and 4,5 for toys.

    10. Would say like alot of others have said breaking them!! D:

    11. I think what I'm most worried about is my dolls being stolen from my home.

Another thing is something happening to their face up. The other week I thought I'd rubbed off or stained my dolls lower lip. I was super scared but luckily it just rubbed straight off and her face up was fine. I learnt to make sure my hands are clean before handling my dolls :whee:

    12. I am terrified of A. Breaking and/or staining my dolls, B. Having them stolen during my flight, and C. Losing them in something like a fire. Especially since at least three of them are limited edition :shudder

    13. 100% my 6-month-old puppy. He destroys everything. Rip walls, floors, and my dolls.

    14. Fire. There would not be enough time to them out. They are insured, but getting new ones would not feel the same.

    15. Biggest fear is falling out of 'love' with not just the doll itself but the character that I have invest so much time and effect into. I would be broken inside for a while if that happen!

    16. I think my biggest fear is when I die, neither of my kids will want my dolls and will simply give them away. They assure me now that is not the case but they are teenagers now. How will they feel years later as adults?

    17. That i will drop them, they will break, i lose them, they get stolen or my worst fear is that i will fall out of love with them. I go through fazes alot where i love something then i instantly hate it. So i hope that doesn't happen with my dolls.

    18. Yellowing!

I live in the tropics. All year it's warm and humid. Fortunately I'm high on a mountain where it never gets really beastly hot. Still, I'm afraid my first BJD will turn yellow the instant she gets here. I'm checking every room in the house to see which one stays coolest. She'll probably live in the basement.

    19. My biggest fear is definitely yellowing (and greening) . I have done as much as I can to prevent yellowing (UV protection curtain, UV protection film, UV cut flat spray, LED light bulb, humidity control, never bringing them outside etc...) but I know yellowing still goes on. My first doll is a white skin and he is the one I worried about most (greening is much terrifying than yellowing).
On the other hand, I don't think I will lose my love for them just because of yellowing. I got a lot of PVC figures and some of them have been with me for over 10 years and already yellowed quite obviously. I still love them very much, so I will also love my bjd even when they turned darker.

    20. Biggest fears are probbbabbbllyyyy dropping them face first on a hard surface or finding out I've left them in a sunlit area.
