1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

What is your biggest fear concerning your dolls?

Oct 3, 2011

    1. My biggest fears are either of dropping them or having them get stolen if I go to a meet or convention.

    2. My biggest fears would def. be losing them, or if they are irreparably damaged (especially Annix! I don't know what I'd do if he got more mucked up)

    3. Fire is a worry because there actually was a fire in my building before I moved in (there's a restaurant attached, and that's where the fire started). I don't have any persons or pets to rescue, but I would feel sorry for my plants (I feel bad for them already because I have a black thumb, sigh), and I would definitely miss irreplaceable things - the memories in childhood toys and scribblings and pictures, the bookshelves my grandfather (now deceased) built, and my dolls.

Losing a doll or having one stolen would be troublesome also. Even though I have secondhand dolls and some of them are arguably replaceable, a "new" doll wouldn't be the same as "my" doll. I once had someone lose a book of mine that they borrowed, and they bought me a replacement, but it wasn't the same - it wasn't the copy that I'd read six times and brought with me through a few moves.

Edit: What someone mentioned earlier about bedbugs...definitely a fear. *shudder*

    4. Color change over time I guess?
I want to display my doll but too afraid that it will turn yellow :(

    5. Hitting their face against the wall, because unfortunately this happened once!

    6. Dropping my dolls and break something is my worst fear! And oso my cats doing notti things to them!

    7. My two biggest fears: Someone stealing them or if they are broken/horribly damaged.

If someone stole my dolls not only would I be absolutely rage induced I'd be incredibly sad. These dolls mean a lot to me as someone that gets attached to inanimate objects very easily.

Fire is a very real danger where I live, which is surrounded by national park (which means lots and lots of eucalypts and banksias) and Australian summers get horrendously hot. We've had bad fires in the area before (I'm talking multiple fire trucks and about 5 water bombing helicopters) so I'm always terrified about not only my family and my pets safety but my dolls as well. There's also the general worry about them somehow falling over or getting smashed in some way.

    8. Falling out of love with the hobby but still feeling sentimental towards the dolls themselves. My disdain for clutter only slightly overpowers my attachment to things, so I could rehome my dolls but not without feeling terrible while deciding. What if I end up with over 30 dolls and love them all??

Other than that, just dropping and breakage like normal, especially for my favorite girl who is limited. I spray sealant on a balcony 6 floors up, so always move super carefully when taking parts outside.

    9. Having my dolls broken beyond repair, house fire (please god no), face up damage oooor having a hook/elastic somehow snap loose and fly at me while restringing. Like I am legit worried I might lose an eye because of a freak incident where I'm restringing my SD and a hand/foot or just the string itself flys loose and nails me in the eye. (I probably shouldn't of watched the final destination movies. I think they've scarred me/make me over think the what ifs in situations xD)

    10. My biggest fear is having my dolls head broken. Like dropping it on the floor or something. My doll's head is a discontinued sculpt and was hard to get. I always worry about it breaking for some reason.

    11. My biggest fear?
Getting recast by gleeful thieves who brag about it online so that my limited faith in human decency goes down the toilet and I never want to see any of my dolls again.

    12. Losing my bonds with my dolls, or extensive damage via natural disaster, household emergencies, etc. My sink quite literally exploded a week ago; luckily while I happened to be home and able to shut the water off. If I hadn't been around, there would have been extensive damage to my apartment, and my girls as well. It wasn't a very nice thought to entertain.

    13. Like many others I used to be most afraid of my doll falling over and smashing it's face beyond repair. I think now, I'm most afraid of a doll becoming lost in the mail! *_*

    14. I'm afraid of losing them. :'(

    15. Her falling off from my table due to my negligence then hearing the impact when she hits the floor breaks my heart.

    16. Since I still don't have bjd my biggest fear is to be deceived by unscrupulous seller. Or doll will be damaged on the way. Or my pay will not arrive on time... Oh, I have many fears!

    17. I have quite a few fears:

      1. Dropping my boy. My room is a mess, and 99% of times I have him out of his box, he's either sitting/laying on my lap or laying on my desk, which is too small for him, so I'm always super afraid of dropping/bumping into him and having him face plant on the floor .__.
      2. Having my dad accidentally drop/break him. My dad isn't exactly known for being very careful when dealing with fragile things, and I had him accidentally breaking my stuff more than once. One time he'll lean on my shelf and make my porcelain doll fall on the floor and break into multiple pieces, another time he'll make a sudden move and accidentally break the crystal ball my Halloween decoration witch is sitting on... you get the idea. He also really likes to "check" how things are made, for some reason... which usually means that he has to open the thing and see what's on the inside. *So far*, he's shown no interest whatsoever in my doll, but I'm still terrified one day he might come up with some "amazing" idea like "let's see what's inside of a bjd!" and/or accidentally bump into my doll's box and break him into multiple pieces .___.
      3. Restringing. My boy is in dire need of restringing, but I can't find the courage to do it for the life of me. I'm super afraid I'm gonna end up with a bunch of pieces I have no idea how to put together.
      4. Never receiving my dolls. It is no secret that the posts over here suck and one of the main reasons I usually order from a dealer rather than from the actual company is that I'm terrified of customs. However, I had issues happening with dealers too, so the fear that I may never receive the item I paid for is always there...

    18. Unfortunately, orders from firm can be lost. But I believe that in this case the firm will repay money or will solve the problem in another way since you have a guarantee of successful transaction. But this situation is very unpleasant (.

    19. I've had an American Girl doll fall down inside a closet while it was closed and dent her nose against the inside of the closet door. So, dolls falling is a very real fear!

    20. I worry about them breaking very often. I just shipped my head for a faceup and even though I used bubble wrap, you can’t help but feel anxious.
