1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

What is your biggest fear concerning your dolls?

Oct 3, 2011

    1. My biggest fear is I buy them and don't like them as much as I think I will. All that money just sitting there because I doubt I could get back what I spent on them. I collect other toys but they are very low in cost compared to some of the ones I want to buy. If I don't like them I can always sell them for a little less but I would kick myself if I lost hundreds. Sorry newbie fears, not used to making such high purchases. I'm trying to make them wisely but you never know until you get them in your hands. Know what I mean?

    2. faceup chipping (i'd like to preserve it as much as possible, i really love it)
and me screwing up the resin with my sweaty palms...

and also, future doll buying plans that might be questioned by customs and add an astounding amount of tax (my first doll package is two dolls that got cleared and sent right at my door)

    3. Any type of damage coming to my dolls. I'm afraid of them breaking, a finger breaking or their face/face-up chipping. My cat also loves to try and sneak a few bites at my dolls hands or clothing when she thinks I'm not looking...so I'm a bit worried she might try to knock one of them down or attack them where I can't stop her. I'm definitely more terrified of a doll getting lost or damaged during the shipping process though since that is out of my control.

    4. Mine is very similar to @Shikaru - these dolls are a big investment. I would hate for them to come and not be how I wanted them to be. Also, falling out of love with my dolls is a big worry.

    5. Two things in particular; not liking the doll when it arrives at my place and damaging the doll. That's why my next doll will be made out of resin; vinyl dolls stain so fast and although my DD is always wearing her bodysuit for protection I'm a bit anxious of her getting stained ._.

    6. I just woke up from a dream where my first doll came in and after opening the box, I lost her :( hahah only something I'd do

    7. I thing is lost during transit, color different when body and head matches and is in different company. Lost of dolls or when I got the doll, damaged RP or in super bad position.

    8. I have some clothes for mine, but it was always my aim to make their clothes and do their faceups on my own.

I think I’m going through a really bad depressive episode, though. I haven’t been able to get myself to start any BJD crafting projects. I’m hoping the weather will get better, I can paint them, and then seeing the end results will push me into doing their clothes.

I’d just hate to leave them unfinished for another... Year... :(

    9. I'm always afraid of damaging them by dropping, shipping or some type of accident. I don't like people handling them unless I allow them to. I also worry about having a doll stolen or lost in transit ... forever! Yikes!

    10. I'm afraid they fall and they break ...
My dolls are locked in the closet.
One night, I dreamed that they were falling and breaking:(

    11. Fear of the "old man/myself" : The excessive yellowing, custom fees and lost postal packages.
Fear after conversion: To not be able to stop buy dolls and spend too much money for dolls!

    12. I hope you get some good weather soon!

    13. Thank you! There were blue skies today, even though it's windy and cold, so it should be in good condition for getting faces painted soon. :kitty1 I'll work on getting better in the meantime.

    14. I'm not too worried about my personal safety in earthquakes in general as buildings here are quite safe, but we've had some rattlers over the years that have knocked things off my shelves...I'm always so worried one of my dolls will fall and be broken. Last year one of them knocked a yosd down and she landed face first, but somehow was still okay :o In retrospect I should have perhaps bought lower shelves.

    15. 1. My doll is falling down and broke.
      2. My family realize my doll's price, they blame me and force me to sell my doll.

    16. I share your anxiety about cats pushing them off shelves and such! I keep them in their boxes just in case but I would like to display them someday!

    17. Some pretty common ones I have are the package getting lost during shipping or damaged and chips parts of the doll.

But, for some reason, I have an unreasonable fear that my dolls faceup won't come off.

    18. Having them be broken or lost forever is a pretty big fear of mine. Especially Avian, since he was my first doll and has a lot a sentimental value.

    19. I used to worry about yellowing, but you know, I've seen some dolls that have yellowed, and some of them were/are beautiful. I, myself, don't subject my dolls to excessive light. As a matter of fact, they are kept in rather dark rooms. I have one doll I bought used and she's kind of yellow but she is also very beautiful. As for the 'addiction' of doll collecting, well, I'm definitely an addict!

    20. I'm terrified of either dropping one of my dolls myself or coming home to see my cat destroying one. He used to kill my barbies and my little ponies when I was little, so I don't trust him. :sweat
