I’ve always loved the Luts sculpts, and by far most of my dolls are from them. But for the past 5 years or so, it’s been the sister companies of Dollzone/Doll Chateau/Dream Valley who have gotten all my dolly dollars. Their creativity and originality has absolutely won me over!
I'd say Peak's Woods is probably my favorite at the moment - the faceups are so beautiful and I can't stop looking at my own girl I'm also really fond of Coral Reef too. Some of their 1/6 sculpts are just so odd and scary looking and I love it!
Dearmine. Why are they all so cute! And the face ups are so pretty. I like a lot of the dream valley sculpts, but not all of them. More like half?
The more I handle BJDs, the more I've worked out what I do and don't like, and my wishlist keeps getting smaller. Things that tempt me into a potential purchase these days are: Stylised large heads that have a unique factor that give me an idea for a character (some recent examples are Switch Gyoha's nose, mouth and closed eye, Bimong Eva's mature face, and Volks SDM-F-06's waifish face and resemblance to Anais/Tae and Shizu/Madoka) A range of static option hands for a body (not a fan of jointed hands) Torsos with ribcage, waist or hip joints (I don't like the way underbust joints unnaturally break up the silhouette of the body) Bodies in the 58–70cm range (75cm dolls in my crew are supposed to be Unnaturally Tall: I don't need any more characters of that height at present)
For me it’s Pipos. They are the company that got me into BJDs with Baha and Heero. I am tempted by every cat doll they release.
Resinsoul! They have so many cuties and I love how they keep improving their construction. I just wish I had the space for more
Bardo Research. I'm typically not into girl dolls, but I like practically all of her females, both head sculpts and bodies. They're so charming, and I adore how articulated yet graceful the doll bodies are - I'd love to handle one of her fashion dolls someday! Every time BR announces a preorder I get tempted, but then I remember that I did in fact have one of her dolls, but sold her because she was far too small for me. I'm a strictly 1/3 collector, so I feel both relieved and regretful that BR's dolls are all 18-40cm... But she recently made her first male BJD, and if she makes more of them, I might end up caving and try again to add a BR doll to my collection...
