What is your favorite doll size and why

Jan 14, 2010

    1. I find 60cm and greater dolls have more sculpts that I enjoy, but after playing with my partner's 1/4 doll, I've come to really appreciate that size and I'm determined for my second doll to be in the 1/4 range.

I find 1/4 sized dolls to be a lot easier to pose and hold, and when in comes to making clothes, personally I am more used to sewing for smaller scales.

Slim/Mature MSD would have to be my favourite size.

    2. For years I have preferred 1/6 dolls. This year, I'm on my way to owning a 1/3 girl! She's gonna be my very first BJD..and she's huge!

But I think I prefer 1/3 sculpts in general. I tried looking for 1/4 dolls that I'll like 'cause I'm kinda anxious of the 1/6 to 1/3 size difference..but in the end, 1/3 won. :D

    3. I just started this hobby mid last year and get stuck really hard in bjd, I love all tiny one form 16cm to 30cm.

    4. My favorite sizes are 65-70cm. Though I do own a lusis akubi hybrid he's quite tall on the dikadoll MSD boy body and soom marl hooves.

    5. I am all in favor for the bigger dolls such as MSD and SD size, they are the perfect size to have sitting in your lap and to carry around and I think making things for them are just a bit easier because you don't have to worry about your fingers and stiches with their clothes. As for the little guys like the 1/6 dolls and smaller... I am just so scared to hold them let alone owen them, I have a fear of breaking them so easily and/or losing them, haha.

    6. I have every size and I think my favorite is the MSD size. Not too big, not too small. Just right to travel. Just right to hold :)

    7. It's a toss up between SD's and MSD's ^^

    8. 70cm for sure! I love mature-looking male dolls, and 70cm dolls seems to have the most sculpts that I like. I also like how big they are, this way I can make clothes with lots of details for them.

My second favourite are tinies. They are soooo cute, and at a good price. Their accessories are cheaper too. I use SO much less fabric to make clothes for them!

    9. SDs are my kind of doll! My favorite size! I started collecting MSDs but since I got my first SD I cant bond w/ anything smaller. I like adult - realistic looking dolls - and for me all msds look like kids to me and I usually dont like the molds. I still have msds that I love but they don't " interact" with SDs so I never play with them.

    10. I really love the tiny dolls (maximum 30 cm). I have always really loved small things, and I think they're so much fun to do photoshoots with. Also, I find the larger dolls are kind of daunting, with their size and weight.

    11. I love MSD size it better for me

    12. for me it's YOSD or smaller. I like something I can put in my bag and take with me when I have to travel and I know i'll want to stop and take a few pictures. They just travel so much easier. I like MSD and own a couple, but my heart belongs to the tinies.

    13. From what I've seen I think that I like MSD size the best, given that I have a small flat anything larger might be a bit unwieldy but the small ones are just... oh so small ;;

    14. I like the bigger size to sew for (EID) but like the MSD size for general play and hand feel

    15. Lately I prefer my 1:12 size Elfdoll Catsies, they are just too easily accommodated by dollhouse items. And they are very easy to transport, so when I want to do any outdoor photoshoots it makes life really easy and they don't draw attention like the SD sized dolls; by the time people get close enough to pry you've got your tiny dolls back in hiding.

    16. When I first started collecting I was big into MSD (45cm) sized dolls. The size (and price) was perfect for me as a newbie collector and being much younger than I am now (I started collecting at 16, I am now 21) the body type and features suited my collecting interests as I wanted younger childlike dolls that were easy to transport. These days as I am now finding my way back into the hobby and am much older I much prefer SD (60cm) sized dolls more. I like the height and I much prefer more mature dolls as my origional characters have matured in my mind and I want to represent them in the best most accurate way possible.

    17. Personally I'm kinda torn on the subject. For resin dolls I definatly prefer Msd size dolls. They are easier for me to hold and pose and since I have weak double jointed hands, they are considerably easier for me to restring. In vinyl dolls however I prefer Sd size ones like dollfie dream and obitsu 60. They offer me the size and presence that an Sd doll has with none of the heavy weight, posing troubles and restringing difficulties that make me dislike the same size in resin.

    18. I like 1/12 dolls like pukipuki, so I could make doll houses for them. 1/6 dolls doll house is also fancy so I like them too. And I think 60cm is perfect for making dress. So... I have no idea...

    19. I admire the 70+ cm doll... They are more like the real people ) I must confess in my heart I would like the dolls come to life.. )
Now I have no such dolls, but perhaps some day...

I would like to have living Realpuki though )))

    20. I love MSD, they are nice size and easy to have with me when ever I need to take them somewhere. I like SD even if I don't own one. Like to hold them and play with them on meets. But I have no idea how it would be to own one..
