What is your favorite doll size and why

Jan 14, 2010

    1. Currently I prefer MSDs and YoSDs. I have a MSD that I adore and a YoSD on the way. Tinies are generally incredibly cute, but they are harder to pose, and SDs are too big for my taste.

    2. I love MSDs a lot. I also like SDs but my heart is set on MSDs. Its just their size I think, and they are easier to pose than most other sizes.

    3. Now that I own a Pukipuki and am building a dollhouse, I have to say that I really LOVE this size. There are so many 1/12 sized furniture and the opportunities to build a world for them are endless!

    4. Hmmm... well my favorite dollยดs are Iplehouse, and the most of the dolls i love from the are the YIDs, dolls of 63 cm... Iplehouse has bigger dolls (the EID and SID) but a 63 cm doll i think is a big one. I dont have problems with the small ones but definitively, i rather big over small ones.

    5. I like SD. I generally like the sculpts in that size best, plus I feel like accessories are more readily available for them.

    6. I've tried owning a lot of different sizes now, and I find I prefer SDs. I'll not say, I'll never buy a MSD again, but SDs are just so much easier to find proper clothes for.

    7. As far as size, I prefer smaller, without getting ridiculous. After all, a one-inch doll wouldn't be very ideal. I like MSD for the most part, but also like 1/6 sized that are not babies/toddlers. Generally getting smaller also looses the body details though, and the arms start to become more and more blocked, and the body in general can look sort of odd if the crafter isn't careful. (I suppose that's one reason smaller dolls are younger, since they have baby fat still.) So MSD is a nice compromise for detail and a comfortable size, as far as my opinion makes.

    8. Tinies! I'm still new to BJDs, having bought my first one last winter. I have an OT mature MSD and YoSD collection, and find the !6 inch/ ~43 cm dolls as big as I'm comfortable with. I'm less then 5 feet tall and find the size of SDs intimidating, even though I've never seen one in person. So far I have a mature 30 cm and a 14 cm, with a 9 cm on the way. Dolls 30 cm and under are much easier to carry around and easy to handle. Their similarity to Barbie ect. actually make me happy, because its a source of inexpensive clothes. My sewing skills are mediocre, but I'm going to make all my dolls clothes anyway. I also like that some of the tinies are the perfect size to live in a dollhouse, since I've been into miniatures since I was a kid.

    9. I haven't bought my first BJD yet, I'm still saving money for her. But in all my shopping around size has actually been a huge deal for me.

I prefer the dolls that are around 30cm give or take, because they seem like they would be easier to display or to handle. But the character I have in mind has a body type that I just cannot find in the smaller dolls. I'm looking at getting a Luts senior Delf with a type 3 or 4 body. I just can't find those body builds in the shorter dolls.

If I could find a body built like the Luts type 3 or 4, but in a shorter form? And with heads as beautiful as Luts, then I would buy a shorter doll for sure. As it stands though, I may stick with the taller ones.

I have no idea how hard it will be to find clothes and shoes for her though. I don't see much at Luts that I like for the character, and I haven't looked around yet to see where else to shop or even what to look for in terms of size.

    10. SD. My first and so far only doll is an SD, and all the other dolls I am interested in are as well. I have yet to see a smaller doll that I feel any draw to owning. All the face sculpts I like are SD sized, and I prefer sewing for the larger size because there's more scope for realistic clothing design/detail.

    11. Currently I dont own any SD dolls ( I only have one MSD ), but I love the size. I feel like I could do so much more with them, picture wise and sewing, than I could with a smaller doll. I want o get one very soon.

    12. I don't have any, but I love SDs. I have two MSDs and two more on the way. My Soom Heliot seems huge and my MSDs seem kind of small(though they are perfect if I am bringing more than one out), but SDs feel just about right to me. Hopefully I will be able to get my own in the next year or so.

    13. MSD - Not too big, and not too small. It's just right for me, and fits well in my box, transporting bag etc.

    14. I love SD sized dolls. Sure, I have tiny and mini dolls too, but they look more.. decorative.. I think. I also want to buy some MSD, but only because they should be teenage kids near my "adult" SD guys :)

    15. I'm not sure. I originally wanted to buy a tiny, but then saw Bobobie's Apollo. I bought a used one on the marketplace. He's a 60cm. I bought his wife, who is also 60cm. I love my SDs. They are great to cuddle with, and have a really great presence. On the other hand, these two are so hard to pack up and take places. They also get a bit heavy when I go to conventions and carry them for hours at a time. My friends have MSDs, but when I play with them they feel to fragile and they seem too small to cuddle, although I think that they are gorgeous dolls worth having. Plus, MSDs seem to have the most available clothing and prop options. I just bought a 16cm, but she hasn't arrived yet. The idea that I could just pop her into my purse and take her places is definitely appealing! I haven't seen a doll that tiny in person, so I can't really have too much of an opinion. I suppose I could be that person that sees the pros and cons of every size...

    16. I'm such an SD person! I've always liked big dolls, bjd and otherwise, and I love the possibilities and variations in sculpts. I've fallen in love with smaller sizes, but my first choices have always been big dolls. C:

    17. I have 3 different sized dolls: MSD, YOSD and Pukifee. I would say my favourite size depends.
Look wise: I would have to say MSD, They are the perfect size in my opinion.
Posablitiy: I would say my Pukifee.

Plus they are both easy to fit on a shelf. I think the SD size can be too big (even though I want one XD)

    18. My favorite size is MSD because it'll be easier to carry and it doesn't take to much space. Right now its the perfect size for me.

    19. I still can't judge because I only have a small one. Maybe once I have. Bigger size doll I can judge overtime. ^^

    20. I prefer the SD sized girls but I tend to not only go by size but also by the sculpt and character of the doll. I have a couple of MSD's that I love and a YOSD that I got as part of an event that I like as well. But generally the bigger the better for me
