What is your favorite doll size and why

Jan 14, 2010

    1. I prefer/like 70cm - 60cm dolls.

    2. 1/6 , YOSD and below for me!! I'm used to carrying barbies when I'm younger and IMO they are already quite big already. That's the maximum size i'ld go!!
And hoping to get more dolls of the same size so they can swap accessories and clothings around so I can spend less on them :p

    3. My favorite size is MSD, because its a "medium size" not too tiny neither too large :)
The tiny ones make me wonder that they are difficult to paint or find things for them, and the larger ones are just way too expensive and kinda scares me (I know, that is weird).

    4. I like smaller dolls, I find them easy to handle and store, having this size also allows me to be able to afford more dolls.

    5. Person I like nice and small doll. I currently have one (another coming) that are both 14 cm and I’m interested in the Realpuki dolls from fairyland. But I mostly like this size because i want to be able to hide my dolls nice and well and so I can travel without them being out in the open (mostly from being shy and slightly embarrassed at what I’ve got).

But I’m slowly eyeing the Doll Chateau Kid doll size :P but I think I’m sticking to small so I can keep my hobby hidden for a little while longer :P

    6. Till now my preference was to MSD size especially for sewing, but I also have 2 YoSD (28-29cm) and I like this size that I find handy.

    7. Im definitely a 'tiny' person, however the realism of some of the larger doll sculpts are amazing and i love looking at them, I just dont have the space (or the finances! lol)

    8. I thought I only would have SD sized dolls before I recently got a Minifee. I loved the hugeness of the SD's when I first got into the hobby but they sure do take up some space! Now I'm looking at the MSD sizes in that kinda way of - look how many dolls I could have room for at that size! So who knows! I would of said SD, but owning a different size has really changed that for me.

    9. I like 1/4 scale dolls. I always have from the beginning. They're nice to carry around and don't take up that much space.
They are just the right size for me, especially now that more companies are warming up to the idea of mature minis.

    10. I'm not sure yet! I'm getting my first doll which is MSD but I'm mostly attracted to SD sculpts. I have plans to get a SD next (I think) so I'll have to wait and see. I love the idea of a bigger doll though.

    11. I like MSDs mainly because it's like a happy medium, it's small enough to carry them around without tiring you out like a SD or EID but you get the feeling of a SD doll like size because their not tiny like yosd and pukis

and MSDs are easier to maintain like restring and face up and can sew clothes for them and such.

I hope someone understands what I mean XD

    12. I prefer the MSD size, but my favourite doll is an SD. I find that I'm more likely to take the time to dress the smaller doll. I don't mind carrying the MSD to events or get-togethers with friends, but I'm unlikely to tote the SD around. It's just a more convenient size for me.

    13. I like MNF size :D
But right now I really want to buy FAiryland PukiPuki. Thes are so cute and so tiny. :D
They actually so small, that I can carry them in my pencilcase. :P

    14. I like minis (MSDs)! They have a range of more mature sculpts and body types that you can't find with YoSDs. I like Yos, but they're mostly childlike sculpts and I want more mature dolls. SDs are also too large for me--they're really heavy and it's a little cumbersome. I can't imagine trying to dress a 60cm+ doll! (Though I do want a 58cm, a 62cm, and even a 72cm just for the sculpts...)

    15. MSDs for me :) There is some solidity/heft to them that is really tangibly nice, though they are not too big to carry in a large purse. Designing clothes for them is fun and challenging. The length is akin to a baby doll or American Girl doll, so it fits nicely on my arm when being held :) That said, I ridiculously freakin' adore my Camellia Dynasty Bean for his insanely cute sculpt, and carrying him in my purse is effortless. At any moment, I know I could take him out and play with his ears and that just makes me happy :)

    16. My main group is MSDs, and I'm very fond of that size, but for actually toting to an event I always seem to end up with the LittleFees instead! They're insanely cute and easier to pack in with the rest of whatever I'm taking along than the larger MSDs, and they always seem less fragile to me (though I can't say if that's actually the case or not). I'm really quite fond of both sizes, though. I like the ultra-tinies but haven't gotten more than one, and I didn't manage well with my one SD (long since sold), so it's MSDs and Tinies for me!

    17. I like the realism and maturity of SDs.. That's where most of OCs are in age. After owning pretty much every size of doll from Tiny to SD (60 cm) I've learned I'm not really a fan of 'child' or 'baby' bjds due to how limited they are in clothing choices. >_< I guess I'm kind of a hypocrite for getting a Minifee (or two) but I couldn't resist that cute little face so I can make an exception.. just this once. Or twice. :sweat

    18. Okay! I have a lot to add to my previous answer on this thread, so there goes!

With me it's actually funny... I tend to like the more mature faces that one can typically find in SDs and I appreciate their size and presence greatly. At the same time, SD-sized and larger dolls are quite hard to play with casually because of that size and their weight and are often finicky posers because of the weight of their resin if they aren't sueded in advance.
MSDs are a happy compromise between the really small ones and the bigger ones, sacrificing a more mature look and impact of presence for an "ease of use" so to speak. They are the easiest to pose and play with, the easiest to redress and quite often the easiest to take photos of.
Then there are Yo-SDs... my first experience with one ended with me passing him on to my friend because he felt too little in comparison to my larger dolls but in time I started to miss that size. They are also the best value for their size, I believe, and they are adorable to boot.
Tinies have their own charm but I've been unable to go bellow 16cm, they're delightful and easy to take around, however.

All in all, I prefer MSDs and Yo-SDs for the reasons listed above but my most favorite faces are still SD ones and thus my collection remains as varied as ever.

    19. I like the size of my Pukifee! I don't know if its just cause my Littlefee is kicky or what. MSD and above are way to big for me! I like carring my dolls around with me and MSD would be just huge! And I don't like anything under Pukifee because that's too small, lol.

    20. I have 1 SD, 1 MSD, and 1 tiny (pretty sure Littlefees would count as tiny...) and I have to say that size wise, I like my MSD the best. I find that he's easier to sneak around than my SD, and he's not so small that I'd have major problems making him clothes. That said, though, most of the sculpts I like most are between 60 and 70cm, so I'll probably be dominated by SDs...>.>
