What is your favorite doll size and why

Jan 14, 2010

    1. I prefer big dolls but I like 1\6 dolls too

    2. SD size, the most easiest size to buy clothes and shoes!:P

    3. I don't really have a preference for size? I really love each of the sizes a lot. They each have their merits and I can't find myself sticking to just one size. I own more MSDs though.

    4. I think, every size has it's own pluses. I have tiny, and it's pretty compact, and I have SD doll and it's so good to hold her in hands.

    5. I'm not sure yet, so I've decided to start out with an MSD. I'm really hoping I'll love her.

    6. I think I probably would prefer MSD size, specifically slim mini. Both of mine are within that range, and though I have a floating tiny head, it's a little small for my tastes and might never even get a body! I am interested in the larger sizes as well. But as I already have 2 minis and a larger doll would not really fit with them (and I don't know if I'd like the size in person), it would probably be a while before I got one that was significantly larger.

Then, of course, there are the 90cm ones which I am absolutely enchanted by, but will probably never get due to their cost, space issues, and lack of clothing that would fit.

    7. i prefer 60 to 70 cm dolls...72cm being the largest tolerable since i cannot resist the soom ID72 xD! ...it's funny...as i child i adored mini dolls, my favorite was only 9cm long, but now, i don't think i could ever own another tiny, just doesn't fit the mood anymore.

    8. I'm starting with an MSD because I guess it's a good middle-ground, but there are a lot of tinies that I really want too, and a few SDs, though significantly less than any other size, thank goodness. I can feel my wallet sighing with relief!

    9. hmmm oddly enough i started off with one sd, then purchased another then an msd and finally a yosd. So a little bit of everything, but im finding im liking the smaller sized dolls more. i love my SDs but i think they are too big for me i just recently purchased another MSD because he had more adult look but was msd sized. the bad thing is i usually find myself liking the SD sized head sculpts but i like the msd body size :(

    10. MSD 1/4 is my favorite so far.

    11. So almost two years ago, I received my very first BJD. A FairyLand minifee Chloe. I loved everything about her, accept. Well, her face and her size. I bought an MSD feeling that, that size would be an excellent way to ease myself into the hobby seeing as I've owned several other dolls that height. Well, like I said. It's been almost two years, and I still can't find myself completely in love. I'm not sure if it's the lack of a faceup or my poor stock in clothing/wigs, but every so often I catch myself really yearning for a bigger sized gal. I'm still not 100% sure though. I've never handled a bigger doll, and my minifee is still just my first. So my question to all of you DOA goers is what's your preferred doll size, and why? Are the big ones easier to display and show off, or do you like the little ones for their pocket sized charm and great posing skills? Do you have multiple sizes? If so, what do you feel is the main selling point for each size, and what could be a deal breaker as well? I feel so green in the BJD world, only ever having just my chloe gal, but I'm determined to really dig in now and get my feet wet!

    12. I went straight for a 72cm boy I fell in love with but it was a long wait until he would arrive. In the interum I bought a 60cm boy who was in stock and got him a week later. I was in love with him too and had a ball dressing him up and taking photos.
When my bigger guy arrived I was so happy and his larger size was just what I wanted. Both dolls came with faceups so I didn't have that hurdle to jump. All my guys have a personality and characteristics that identify them from each others.
I eventually bought a cute little MSD boy and I was struck by how tiny and light he was compared to my big boys. One more MSD boy has arrived since but the rest (10) of my boys are 60-72 cm tall. I love the bigger guys they are easier to sew for but the MSDs are easier to take on trips just to have a doll along.
I suggest you create a character/personality for her and then get a face on your girl that matches that persona. I think you will be happier with her when she becomes someone who has characteristics you can identify with.

    13. My biggest doll is a FL ChicLine at 40cm (pretty small for an msd), all the rest of my dolls are 27cm or less. I've never seen a SD sized doll in person, but am very attracted to them -so many wonderful sculpts, and choices for clothing. I've wondered if I'd like SD as I'm always finding sculpts I like, but the size is intimidating to me for some reason. I guess I'll just have to see some SD dolls in person!

    14. MSD seems like the size for me! They aren't super tiny, and babyish (I like mature dolls, for the most part, most Yo-SD's are kids!) and SD's sound very big for a doll for me to start with. Though DZ has the most amazing 19cm mature fairies <3

    15. I like SD size. 60~65 cm dolls.
I'm not sure why am I like these size, but.. It's strange. I usually buying SD dolls easier than other size dolls.
Maybe? SD size is easy to buy clothes and shoes.

    16. Started out with SD then 70cm. Moved onto tiny and MSD...now I find I gravitate toward MSD and Tiny, almost exclusively.

    17. Tinies for sure! I've never liked very large dolls in any of my collecting, and I just love that the tinies take up very little space, plus I think I just like "cute"

    18. I always loved small things -dollhouse miniatures etc. I have a 1/3dol (62cm), a 1/4 doll, and a 1/6 doll. I'm surpized to discover that I like my 1/3 doll the most. Now I want a girl in that size to go with my boy.

    19. I decided a while ago that MSD was the perfect size for me, then I got a Yo-SD and I actually really love there size as well. They are so much more portable. That being said I do have quite a few SD's, but I doubt I will get more in the future. They are just too big for me to lug around for photos etc.

    20. For my first doll I'm looking for one with size around 60cm or more! More fun to dress up :XD:
