What is your favorite doll size and why

Jan 14, 2010

    1. While I started off with MSD, SD is my favorite size. I just love how big & weighty they are!

    2. I've had a MSD 43cm before and even that is a little too big for me and it's one of the main reasons why I took a break and parted with my dolls. Recently as I've become more interested in BJDs again, I find myself gravitating towards YoSD and Tiny. They are so cute to me! Although I do sometimes wish that that size is not limited to only babies/children/kids. I understand it's difficult to make teens in that size but one can dream haha!

    3. I can see a lot of us started from MSDs!
I also started with MSDs and I love them, but my favorite doll size is Yo-SD no doubt.
Tiny is too little buy Yo-SDs are so easy to carry and they have beautiful clothing and accessories!

    4. Large SDs are my absolute favourite, and I have a tendency for boys rather than girls haha! They just look so good, and their height is really rather reassuring. This is despite the fact that it's an absolute nightmare to travel with two big boys on any overseas trips, since that doesn't really stop me from buying them.

When I buy a doll, the considerations that come into mind apart from my liking the sculpt are usually boy > SD :wiggle But I'd stay away from anything that touches 80cm though, because I still feel they're a bit too big *_*

    5. If you liked girl dolls maybe you can look into Unoa? I think they're msd sized (same height as MSDs but much more slim and more like a teen. They have a mature and feminine body)

    6. there are a few mature Yosds. I recently acquired two planet doll minis (a boy and a girl) and I'm in love with them. I plan to buy at least two more girls like them this year (a SaintBlomm Charlie and a MorningStar Caroline).
I know there is a thread here about mature minis, from teen lokking to full grow. You should check them out!

    7. I thought my favorite size was msd, just by what my favorite non-resin dolls are. A lot of companies seem to make the cutest little things on the tiny 1/6 scale, and all the odd event dolls I fall for are those sizes too, so my tastes may be veering smaller just by what scale the cool things are made on.

    8. I was originally drawn to the 1/3 size but my first BJD was a YOSD. I still got my big girl but I love my YOSD....and she fits with a lot of props and asseccories I have.

    9. Oops. I did not really state why I really love 1/12 and 1/8.
I think I love them mostly because I feel like I would be able to carry them with me everywhere.
I got stares when I took my 1/4 to a cafe with friends. It wasn't really the stares that bothered me though. I was the trouble it took to get her there.

    10. I prefer MSD size dolls. They are just the right size to fit in the crook of my arm when I carry them around with me! I would love to have a tiny or an SD doll someday, but for now I'll stick to MSDs.

    11. I prefer 1/3(SD) size. 70+ size is too heavy to me (or maybe I need to build up my muscles).
But I'll get my new 1/8(16cm)doll in a couple months, maybe I'll change my mind because I can carry them more easier.

    12. Although at present my dolls are 1/3, really I prefer 1/4 (MSD size). They are much more manageable, lighter and easier to find them accessories or furniture.

    13. I've never seen anything other than an MSD in person, so I must say for now MSD size is my favourite ~
I feel like SD size would be way too big (I'm quite a small person), but I am tempted by Yo-SD size dolls - their clothes and things look so cute, not to mention they're easier to find props for and much more portable!

    14. Honestly, the most convenient size for me - it's 1/6. Dolls are compact, doesn't need a lot fabric to make clothes, this size is convenient to take to the trips and place for photography you can found easily or do fast, cause they don't need a lot of place.
On the other hand greater the doll - easier to sew.

    15. I like the 65cm to 70cm dolls. I prefer more realistic dolls and I feel that the smaller dolls are more stylized.

    16. I like the larger dolls generally 60-70cm also as some of you. I keep saying I will sew for some and the larger the easier for me when it comes to sewing. And I just have always liked big dolls. The bigger the better. I have a 41 inch trinity on order now! Yikes, but I am excited about it.

    17. I prefer MSD size dolls. I have two MSD and one YoSD at home.
I think there are so many beautiful SD dolls but - and I don't know why exactly - the SD size is "too big" for me...

    18. MSDs are my choice size! I think they're just the right size, not too big or small.... :3nodding:
They're much more manageable and I love their teen like proportions!

    19. SD
They just seem sooooooo real to me, the look on their faces, their bodies...
and you can dress them more freely

    20. SD all the way! 55-65cm is my general preference, though I've had just about every other size (and we still have some bigger guys), they're just the right balance of presence and heft without being too heavy to want to cart around.
