Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. What is your favorite doll size and why

Jan 14, 2010

    1. Thank you to the both of you! I will definitely check them out especially since I haven't seen their sculpt before. Thanks so much for letting me discover new sculpts and companies!

    2. SD dolls are my favorite by far! I love the weight of them and they're fun to carry around at doll conventions / doll shows, plus I find a lot more clothing that fit's my SD girls styles compared to my msd girls.

    3. Slim msd! I also like that ones intended to be more like a child.
I like because of the price and because I collect other dolls such as blythe and azone and barbie and I like to place them all together, and they can share some clothes and objects or accessories!
I prefer sizes from 30 cm to 45 cm maximum, but I think I can buy a 50 cm doll, and it will be ok

    4. I basically only like MSDs. Anything larger is too big to me and I tend not to like very mature sculpts. But at the same time I dislike childish dolls and YoSDs so MSDs are the happy medium for me.

    5. My personal favorite size seems to be SD sized dolls and up! Any dolls usually 60-80cm are what I love. I know they're heavy and really tall so they take up a lot of space, but I just can't get over how they are so intricately detailed and have such an amazing presence to them. Even though the first doll I fell in love with happened to be a Luts Kid Delf and was only about 45cm, I just can't help but gravitate to the dolls with so much more mature sculpts to me. What I've noticed was that smaller dolls tend to be very cute and don't really look like adults much, so I have found myself leaning more to the bigger dolls! Plus those super tiny dolls (even MSDs) just feel so fragile that I'm terrified to hold them without breaking something on them!

    6. I didn't think size mattered to me, but I just came to realize I lean towards SD and rarely look at the small dolls. Not because of the size as much, but because the sculpts tend to be more mature. Ultimately it's a sculpt that sells the doll to me. I have dolls of all sizes and maturity, and it's not the size that draws me to any of them. Sometimes a little cutey doll will capture my heart as much as an SD, but I don't really seek them out.

    7. I dont know if this has been done yet if so sorry for the repeat T.T

I wanted to know what are you guys prefrences when it comes to size? I know BJDs come in several sizes from 60cm ( or bigger) to 27cm ( or smaller)(also tinies) but i always wondered when your buying what size do you mostly look for? In my case i would mostly buy in between 40-60cm (msd- sd size) but havent thought too much on a larger scale but may do so in the future. Do anyone of you guys dislike or just dont buy a spefic size? I'd love to hear any and all of you guys opinions :3

    8. Funny question! Or rather funny answer.

When I first joined the hobby, I only wanted MSD. Then about 2 years in, I decided I only wanted SD and mayyybe one or two YoSD as babies for the SD crew.

Now, I've really started liking MSD again, a well as the teeny tiny 12-16cm.

So I guess my answer is: Under 65cm.

    9. I think i was kinda the same way im slowly starting to want to get tinies too myself but im not sure ive heard its hard finding clothing for them

    10. Space is at a premium in my house, so I only buy 1/4th scale and smaller.
Except I broke my rule and I bought a Dollshe Saint. :sweat
What I am trying to say is: Dolls, I love them.
PS: Tinies are actually the easiest to find clothing for. Followed by 1/3rd scale AKA SDs. Depending on the 1/4th scale (MSD), it can be a nightmare to find pre-made clothes.

    11. At first I didn't really understand how large MSD and SD were. I started out with 1/6 scale dolls, and now I find that I mostly buy 1/3. Not so much because I prefer them to other sizes, but because there are more characters and sculpts that I like in the larger size. I will buy tinies as well, but they are fewer in number in my family than the larger dolls.

    12. I kinda learned that the hard way when i first got my fist doll which was 43cm tall and was surprised at her porportions unwrapping her and all over all i love 1/3 but SD sized dolls i would like to give a try someday

Thats so true i wish smaller dolls had more clothing options

    13. It depends on what tiny you get. If they are a popular size, like Lati Yellow or Puki, it's pretty easy. If they're not a popular size, it's much harder. For example, my Asleep Eidolon Chocolate is the same height as Lati Yellow and a couple of other popular dolls, but her head is slightly smaller and her body is chubbier, so most standard clothing is too tight/small for her. But she's adorable anyway. :D

    14. I'm currently in love with the 1/4 BB or Big Baby size (chubby 40-45 cm dolls) so I mostly look at that. Like @seffy_chan, space is limited at my place, so I find it hard to keep 1/3 dolls. Their boxes are just so darn big!

    15. I have a lot of dolls from Kens & Fr a Hommes up to 70cm+ bjds.
When I collect bjds I love 70cm.... My heart belongs to them & that size.

    16. They do. 1/6th scale probably has the most clothing options. YO-SD too. Mid-range is the problem size.

@hanaful So hard! I have to settle for seeing other peoples Large Dolls.

    17. There is not a particular size I do not mind, but to me Msd sized dolls seem to be what I feel I am comfortable with because they are not too big or too small for me ^^

I do not really look into buying SD dolls because it seems like too much money for me to be spending on dolls at this moment in my life XD I suppose your money can go farther with buying some smaller dolls, but yeah MSD's for me are perfect size for me it seems ^^"

    19. I've owned dolls that ranged from 25-70 cm, but right now I really like 50cm dolls. Zaoll, Soom Idealian, Souldoll Zenith, to name a few. I like that they're as mature as SD dolls, but more compact.

    20. *pounds table* BIG
I may not truly qualify to answer since I still don't have my first (soon! soon) but he's 70cm. I don't know why but, aside from the customization, a big part of the appeal of this type of doll for me is the sheer size.
I probably shouldn't get another doll the same size as Caspian is though - I'll likely just stick to SD and maybe MSD in the distant future if/when (ahhaahha if) I add more kiddos to the troop.
