What is your favorite doll size and why

Jan 14, 2010

    1. I prefer dolls that are SD and larger. It's a lot easier to make stuff for them and I can have them sit on my lap while I play with them. I do like smaller dolls too. I have one yo-sd and an MSD and I love them because they're so much easier to take outside.

Originally, I was planning only to collect SD and larger dolls but some smaller dolls really attracted my attention and I had to have them.

    2. So far I've only got one doll, but I've noticed that most of all the dolls on my wishlist are msd size or smaller. I just think they're cuter for the most part! :3 Currently, I got my eye on a super cute YoSD girl at the moment! Don't get me wrong though, I think there are a lot of beautiful SD sized dolls, too, but I don't really find all that many that appeal to me that much for me to want them. There's only two SD girls that I really love so far, and maybe whenever I do get the chance to get them, I might change my mind, but I know it's going to be a long while before I get either of them, so my collection is definitely going to consist of smaller dolls only for the time being and I'm completely happy with that. ^_^

    3. I only have a head right now, but I find myself attracted almost exclusively to SD sculpts. But I tend to really like MSD bodies, what a dilemma! A tiny seems like it might be fun to carry around, but other than that, yeah. Then again, I might change my mind once I have a SD body.

    4. I'm loving the very inconvenient but adorable 50-52cm BJDs at the moment, for example Dollstown elf, iMDA 5.2, Souldoll Vito, etc. They tend to be very difficult to find clothing, shoes and accessories for, but boy are they cute! Plus they are so much easier to carry around than the average 1/3 BJD.
I'd also like to add a 30cm doll to my collection one day. :whee: It's funny since I started out collecting only 65+ cm dolls, and now I'm thinking that size is too much resin for me to handle! รฉ_รจ

    5. I stick purely to 1/6 with mature sculpts/faces. This is actually really tough because they're rarer and it's harder to find a face I like. I adore the face sculpts of a lot of 1/3 (particularly Soul Doll, omg) but know that would just be too much for me to juggle. Also expensive. :| Most dolls are listed in USD and I'm like "ohh 600 isn't that bad!" And then I convert it to CAD and I'm just like why Canada, why.

    6. I am very much into the 60cm-70cm BJDs at the moment. I am not particularly good at sewing and a bigger size doll is very helpful to understand how the material is cut and put together. None of my bigger dolls have the same body shape and it is very interesting to adapt patterns to their individual needs. I am looking forward to the day when I am good enough to make the right clothes for each personality as well. I still have a lot to learn.

    7. I'm such a sucker for the little ones! 20-30 cm is my favorite size, simply because they're so cute! Also they are easier to store/carry because of their size, which allows for huge collections :)

    8. I like the YOSD sized dolls best, mainly because they are tiny, but not that tiny- easy to take around and take pictures of and that is what I enjoy. I do like the smaller ones too, 16cm. But they sometimes seem to be too small.

    9. My favorite size is 63cm. I have a handful boys this height and I find it's just right for me. My whole doll family is large, and these boys fall right in the middle.

    10. SD's are my favorite size.

    11. I feel like MSDs are a good size for me.
SDs are really intimidating for me, they seem really big and bulky. I don't have much space for big dolls!

But I don't like the childish bodies of dolls smaller than MSDs - so those are out too.
Also I'm really forgetful and I feel like I would lose a tiny doll! I'd set it down somewhere and forget where I left it.

So I'd like to stick to MSD's - big enough I cant easily misplace one, but don't take an obnoxious amount of space. (:

    12. I love the Sd sized sculps and am frustrated as it almost made me get a couple of heads just because I loved the way they looked but I like the MSD size: 16" is perfect to keep somewhere and to make things for as it is large enough where you have allot of options with beads and clasps etc. I love the tinies look and size but they are harder to make things for: I just crochet little dresses and give them single strands of beds or tiny necklaces with a me made hook.

    13. I prefer dolls in the 1/3 SD range and my collection features over 10 dolls ranging from 60cm all the way to 80cm, but I couldn't tell you why I like them. I just do.

    14. My collection spans from Puki Puki up to a standard SD. My favorite sizes are the tinies to go along with my miniature houses (that has also been an expensive slippery slope!) and my SD's. Both go through significant wardrobe changes, although there are a few SD's that have found "their look" and they don't change out of it. My avatar girl there has THE MOST extensive wardrobe and shoes! She own's more than I do and I spend way more on her than myself :doh She tells me she's worth it though ;)

My msd and yo sized dolls rarely get played with, however, I am not at a point where I am ready to part with them. Most of them have found their "look" and I just like looking at them. In fact I just bought another yo-sd just because I thought she was super cute, and knowing full well that she probably won't get played with very much/at all but that's okay. I still like looking at her and it makes me smile.

    15. At first I was sure that I prefered MSD but after getting a SD doll I have to admit that that size is the one I prefer. I don't have any reason to this, I just found that they were more suitable for me. That being said I am still looking for the perfect MSD to keep my other MSD company.

    16. I like only SD-size... in this reason i collect only this size.
Smaller size are only Pullip, at my home.

I like the big size, its so cool, see the different size between SDdolls and Pullip ;)

    17. I really don't have a preference right now. I have an SD and an MSD and I love both sizes. Especially when they're next to each other. I'd love to get my hands on a YoSD for comparison.

    18. MSD and smaller. Their weight and size makes dressing, handling, posing, storing and transporting them a lot easier for me.

    19. I like MSD size because it's not too big and you can carry them easily around

    20. Right now I have a 21 cm obitsu. But what really really want is a 65 cm from angell studio. I'm still saving for her. But there's also the 65 cm grace doll from implehouse that I kinda want.:drool
