What is your favorite doll size and why

Jan 14, 2010

    1. I prefer MSDs or smaller. SDs are just too heavy. I really love my MDR Zuri and Ophelia, they are absolutely gorgeous, but sadly I have to put them up for adoption.

    2. I started off with a yo-sd, cos I new even those cute little things dimensions are a lot different form the dolls I was used too, my second doll was an SD. to this day I have only handled one full msd sized bjd, a friend's minifee that they sent me for a faceup, and my souldoll vito head, I can see myself really liking the size, I would like to complete my vito eventually and maybe get him a friend too, but considering my current crew they wouldn't really fit in. At the moment I can confidently say "my size" is SD, I like their size, aesthetic and almost all my favourite sculpts come in that size, but I would definitely look into MSDs, one day..

    3. Id say anything just around 30cm or smaller is my favourite! I grew up in a very small area so I mainly had polly pocket and barbies. I only really had three larger dolls and they weren't even that big.

    4. I think I prefer MSDs because they are big enough to make decent clothes for them ah ah
I like smaller doll too but it's hard to find clothes for them I think.
I never had an SD doll but I saw some SDs at conventions and it scares me a bit :sweat

    5. MSD (slim/mature-mini, not childlike-mini) is my favourite size. Even when there was basically only Unoa out there at this scale, I felt like it was the right one for me. When I got my first doll I went around to thrift stores and other places gathering a large collection of props and furniture pieces, so it made sense to stay with minis for my subsequent dolls so they could share all that stuff. I've never seen BJDs of another size in person, but I have seen people handling them in youtube videos, and my reactions were as follows - Yo-SD and Tiny: "Huh, not as small as I pictured", SD: "Way too big! So much too big!"

    6. SDs are a little too big for my tastes. I prefer the sizings of MSDs. I've never handled a Yo-SD, so I can't day anything about them. I'd probably lose a Yo-SD though. They look so tiny.

    7. MSD is about as large as I go. I love tinies. Even as a kid, my favorite dolls were the Honey Hill Bunch dolls - all around Pukifee size. I've made some SD-sized cloth dolls, but I fell like that size in resin wolud be too much doll for me.

    8. I like MSD to smaller dolls. I am a very short adult and the SD dolls are really to big for me to manage. MSDs are also easier for me to make a diorama for.

    9. I love the more mature sculpts and detail of SD sized dolls, so I pretty much always end up buying/planning to buy bigger guys... however, I'm starting to think that MSD would be a much easier size to deal with, both for posing *and* for storing purposes. Too bad that there aren't a whole lot of sculpts in MSD size that I like ;____; I was happy to see that both DollShe and Iplehouse turned some of their SD sculpts into smaller dolls, though, and it'd be really awesome to see more companies doing that!

    10. I have YoSD,s right now, but I'm want all the sizes! I like my littles, because they are nice and small and I can put them in my purse if needed! That said. I haven't experienced other sizes, so my opinion my change!

    11. I moved from loving the portability of MSDs to wanting SDs nearly exclusively between resin and dollfie dreams and there are so many reasons for this. SDs just have more of a presence in a room. They can also look more mature which is something I'm after as the characters in my stories are often over 30 even reaching their mid-40s. They are also more detailed, and more details can go onto their clothing and shoes plus MSD clothing often feels "juvenile" in comparison as well...

    12. Personally I prefer the SD size as it’s easier for me to found accessories and wig, I use to own a MSD size doll from Volks but finally it’s too difficult to order outfit for her, each time I would like to order outfit there’s only SD or YOSD size...tried a few time to sew clothes for her but finally give up indeed as I’m a very bad handmade person :doh

    13. I dont have any dolls yet, but I tend to not pay attention to the size. I just look at the sculpt. Though I do prefer more mature looking sculpts so they tend to be bigger. I am not opposed to little dolls, just childish sculpts. If that makes any sense.

    14. I started from SD size, even 70+ with minimee head but finally realized that he is too big for me. Not much comfort in transporting, keeping, posing etc. Maybe I am such a newbie but I could not make friends with him for three years so I finally sold the body and left a head only as it was by 1st doll ever. Now I chose Fashion MSD size and I find it pretty good for my needs - they are at same time small and grown up. And YoSD fit them better, now I have Iplehouse FID and KID and they look nice together, they can be a part of one story

    15. I love the big guys :D I would KILL for a 90cm with a decent looking adult head on it's shoulders! I can't wait for my 75cm Sabik to get in:drool

I have smaller dolls but I play more with my tall boys, they are easier to make clothing for as well :-)

    16. I have many sizes. I would love to own a really tiny doll (like a micro-BJD from Dreamhigh). But I also love the 90 cm guys from Angel of Dreams.
At the moment my largest is 72 cm (RS Yi) and the smallest is DD-Anne's Tiny Near, who is about 10 cm.

    17. I've owned a spectrum of 12 cm to 65 and I have to say... Space considerations aside, I really do prefer the bigger guys. I actually find them easier to pose naturally because their limbs have weight so they tend to settle into a pose and hold it under their own power. With the little ones I find they wiggle everywhere with the lightest amount of application of force (and I'm not a huge fan of super tight elastics or wiring). It also easier to find natural-fitting wigs and eyes for the big guys. And... even though they're more unweildly and require a lot more material, sewing for the big guys is much much easier.

That being said, here I sit with a single 40 cm doll and a tiny little tidbit and no big dolls so... So much for that preference when space considerations DO become an issue!

    18. I love SD10 to SDgr girl! I find they are more friendly for photo shoot. (although i own YOSD and MSD sizes doll, all of them are adorable)

    19. I love SD sized dolls. I have an MSD but even he is too small in my opinion
Might be because I started with SDs and they have grown on me. It's also easier for me to make stuff for them even though they take up a lot of space. I still wanna try out having a YoSD one day, since I travel a lot, it would be easier to take with me

    20. I don't really have one preferred size as each size had their own perks. Msd are so much easier to handle but for me sd looks better overall with customs.
