What is your favorite doll size and why

Jan 14, 2010

    1. I prefer something I can hold and manipulate easily. MSD seems to be a great size for me. I think I might get a smaller proportioned doll too.

    2. I used to be unsure, but now that I have both SD’s and MSD’s, I’d say I prefer MSD... I think it’s mainly because the majority of my collection consist of MSD’s though.

    3. I love the MSD size but the cuteness of Tinies. Of course I'm still experimenting on which size I like the most  (I have plans to get an SD girl and boy)

    4. So I’m slowly pulling together my first doll at 1/4 size and I’ve actually been tempted to get another pre-owned doll size 1/8.
As before I’m nervous about a smaller doll size. Although I’m honestly curious what size dolls you prefer and why.
I love the 1/4 Luts I have because she’s big and poses very nicely.

    5. I have Sd and YoSD at the moment...and to be honest I haven't found a size I really didn't 'like'. Although I will say for human-esque dolls I can't do smaller than 25cm. I have a few creatures that are smaller and they are just fine but I have a Ringdoll Yue at about 15cm and while I love her face to bits...I find myself unable to sew/do anything for her because of how small she is (i'm trying to fix that though). I think overall, unless they're supposed to look like kids (Like my Luts Petite Delf or my Souldoll Sweeter) I prefer them to be on the SD size. My kiddo has an MSD and she's just too small for me.

    6. Thus far I like MSD. I have two MSD Luts KD and two 1/6, and the 1/4 I think are the perfect size to make clothing for. One of my 1/6 is actually the best at poses out of all my dolls, but I still stand by loving the 1/4 size more. I also have an Obitsu 11 doll (which is off topic for here) that poses like a champ (gotta love the plastic joints!) but I find it hard to sew for. Making props, however, I've found are easier a smaller scales. I've made props from 1/6 to as small as 1/24 scale.

    7. It doesn’t had to be just Luts! I know there’s many makes and sizes of dolls out there, it’d be too cruel to limit it like that! My KDF Luts is beautiful, the one I’m looking for it a Tiny Delf Uriel, i love the face sculpt! I might end up getting her Honey Delf model one day, but I found out v quickly that it’s much harder to find things for 1/8 dolls (1/3, 1/4 and 1/6 I see a lot of cute things) but I’m actually excited to have a smaller doll as well.

    8. Recently i bought msd, but i just being excited at first, then i realize i prefer SD more. Maybe because my first bjd is SD, so im kinda get used to big size

    9. I love tinies, they're so much easier to make dioramas and props for and to photograph and store, especially if you have limited space (as I do). I have MSDs too, but I find them a lot more difficult to take photos of because they're so large and the props/furniture are a lot more expensive. Bjds around 10 - 14cm are my preferred size!

    10. I seem to have this thing where I want to make very elaborate couture type clothes for my dolls, so SD is definitely easier in that respect. But smaller dolls are easier to handle and carry around...and prop up somewhere where they are always in my sight, or hanging out on my desk at work.... :love

    11. Love all sizes, but will say the bigger the doll, the more expensive the clothing, shoes, wigs, etc. Unfortunately, I do not sew, so can’t save money on outfits.

    12. When I first started it was big dolls the bigger the better. After 10 years in hobby though my age and my hands said I had to switch to MSD. I was getting smaller dolls that I did more with a couple of years earlier so I knew if I picked the right ones it would be fine. So now other then a couple of boys I can't part with everyone coming in is no bigger then 46 cm. Its not only helped the actual doll numbers, but it means I can cut out large sized props and furniture too. If I was younger or didn't have the beginnings of arthritis in hands would have more big guys then MSD guys.

    13. So far I have found that I prefer MSD. I don't mind SD, but MSD are a lot nicer to carry around and such. Though it's definitely easier to make clothes for larger dolls. The smaller the doll... The tinier the work is.

    14. I absolutely adore msd size.
I'm a smaller guy, and SD are a bit big for me to carry around comfortably, especially with arthritis in my joints. I have an msd and a 1/12 size event doll and while I marvel at how tiny my DC Larry is and the fact he can fit in a hand, I also worry about breaking him much more than I do with my msd (a doll love kaja).
So as I collect more dolls, I'm definitely thinking msd is the perfect fit for me.

    15. Only SD that are around 55-60 cm range.; can't really stand the other sizes.

    16. I love SD dolls~ They're so pleasing to hold, and I love the detail in their sculpts (To be fair, I've never seen a resin BJD smaller than SD. Maybe they're super detailed too?).

    17. I have some minor back issues, so I feel that any doll above 50 or so centimeters will be too big and heavy for me to take anywhere. So, I stick to any size doll under that! Right now, I've got two 1/4 boys on the way and there's about eight 1/6 scale dolls on my wishlist, and two tinies. My main crew, though, will be 1/4 boys, mainly because I like the size and the fact that they shouldn't be as heavy as 1/3 dolls!

    18. I prefer the 1/3 size, but am contemplating a 1/4 size doll.

    19. I'm curious about how I'll like SD, I only own MSD right now.
I hear a lot of people saying they like each for different reasons.
I was a little surprised by how small MSD are when I first got mine in the mail.
I expected her to be bigger!
