1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

1. I chose "dreamer" even though I'm just as much a hobbyist. I just spent the last two days making wigs for Chaeri, and I love making clothes for her and the rest of my krewe, but their characters and representations are very important to me as well.

2. good grief... O_O I really don't know where I'd fit... I would love to be what you call the hobbyist but I lack the skills to do so much (would love to learn and am trying with the photography ... badly yet but trying ;p) Not being able to sew or 'make' bjd stuff (soooo not handy lol) I 'collect' so I can 'hobby'? And does a doll telling ME who they are make me a dreamer? I suck at 'creating' the personalities... I need something to build on like a book character to keep developing or that the doll can portray in 3D. If anything my dolls become and extension of something inside me and this best shows these elements of me. my thoughts or feelings or wishful dreams. Like how I'd love to belong to another time or place.

I think I'd call myself a bit of a 'hybrid'. ;p

3. I think mainly Dreamer because ALL of my dolls have at least a smidge of a story, and an abundance of personality, but it's still a very close race, with Hobbyist coming in second. Because I LOVE to make things, especially for my dolls. I love to do faceups, modify dolls, make wigs, make clothes, makes props and furniture (well, not yet, but I will soon) and I even want to make an SD size 'dollhouse' of sorts! I just love to MAKE! And I love making things worth loving.

4. Mostly a hobbyist, but also a dreamer as I do use my dolls as characters for stories. ^^

5. Welp, according to your descriptions, I'd be 80% Dreamer, 15% Hobbyist and 5% Collector.

This is a very interesting thing to discuss, I think I'll go read what others have said. ;)

6. a MIX of Hobbyist and Dreamer <3

7. I'm mostly a collector with a little bit of dreamer. Definitely not a hobbyist because I suck at sewing and photography. Would love to try face-ups but I don't think I have the patience xD. I would love to fit the hobbyist category, I guess it just takes a lot of practive and patience. I do give my dolls a personality, but not so much as to give them a whole backstory and what not. I have been a collector for pretty much my whole life, so it's only natural that I'm that kind of person :).

8. I’m 67% Hobbyist and 33% Dreamer. ;)

9. Uh - none of the above. I love my dolls and I like doing stuff with them, now and then, but since BJDs are far from my most important hobby ... My most important hobby is writing and my BJDs are only marginally involved in that (some serve as "3D portraits" of some of my characters but most of them, I just got cos I wanted them) ...

10. I´m a dreamer and hobbyis. I like o do everthing my self. My dolls have history and futureand i love them all <3

11. I decided not to vote on the poll, because I am a perfect 1:1:1 split. I'm absolutely a hobbyist, because my main way of interacting with my dolls is through creative works (mainly blushing, modding, sculpting new parts and making props and clothing for them). I'm just as much a collector, because I love chasing down grails and 'completing' sets - nothing's more satisfying than finally chasing down that rare part and setting it in my collection safe and sound :D And then again, I'm just as much a dreamer, because one of my major hobbies is writing about my dolls' characters and world-building and developing characters in detail.

If BJDs weren't all three things for me - collectable, modifiable and inspiring, I wouldn't own any BJDs. Any one or two traits alone just wouldn't justify the costs and wait times for me. But luckily BJDs are all three, which makes them a perfect hobby for me :)

12. You are perfect lol.

As for me, I am definitely a Hobbyist.

I'm not a collector because I do not care about having the perfect collection with all the nice pretty dolls in the world (although it is nice to have that lol) Just not my priority. I'll only get what truly appeals to me, and I think way too much before purchasing anything, so I don't think I could be labeled as a collector.

I'm not a dreamer because I do not like to dwell so much with their stories and backgrounds, because too much of that is boring and cheesy or tacky. Although I do come up with some sort of creative theme or look for the doll, just not too exaggerated to the point that I plan out where or how she came into this world and all that mumbo jumbo :P

I am a hobbyist because the whole reason of joining this hobby is because of the creative aspect of it. I love customising and changing or modifying anything, and to have it be something as diverse as dolls, it was meant to be! I love just about anything that can be made or created, so I love to sew, knit and sculpt miniatures and the like. To me even repainting a face-up is like creating a beautiful masterpiece on a doll canvas :) I'm more on the artistic side of the hobby!

13. Wow I didn't know it was so rare to be a "collector"! Compared to the other two groups, I feel like the weird type XD. I think, though, that it is the one that fits me most...

I've considered the idea of owning a BJD that I can relate to one of the characters of my stories but I patiently went through most companies out there just to find out that there is none perfect for what I have in mind... Also taking in account that I find it very difficult to picture them out of their default sets and face ups to know their real potential so I felt like none of them could fit my expectations for my stories and just dropped that idea in favour of just owning beautiful pieces of art. That also means trying to get them as different as possible from the default version... even if I know 0 about all those customizations that people make... I won't learn to sew or do face-ups, so I'll have to deal with finding the proper artist to do so. But I plan on being lucky with that so I will finally own a "collector" type of doll, even though I know it's not the only one of that sculpt, etc etc, but it will be unique in its own way and that is enough for me.

14. I believe I'd fall into a 50/50 between hobbyist and dreamer. I can't really name something without building a personality or back story, and usually it takes off from there. A name needs to fit and make sense to me, and I guess it wont unless I've done that first? Mostly it's a need for a creative outlet, which is why I also consider myself to fall in the hobbyist category. I like to make furnishings, clothes, and props for photos and displays!

15. I'm a %50 hobbyist / 50% dreamer.
I bond with him every tuesdays/fridays to make some props and clothes and on sundays we go somewhere... mostly in the garden or park for our little day out.

16. There should definitely be the option of choosing more than one! I chose hobbyist because I guess that's the main attraction, but I'm definitely a collector by nature as well and i'm equally happy to have some dolls that I don't change at all, and to buy outfits for rather than make them.

17. I'm a a big dreamer and (very procrastination-inclined)hobbyist. I really like writing for my dolls, and creating their characters and personalities. Of course, making clothing or accessories or just finding doll sized things in stores is big fun too!

18. I'm 85% hobbiest, 10% dreamer, and 5% collector. :D

19. I would say I will become a half Hobbyist and Dreamer. I want to make photography with my doll and want to sew clothes for it. I don't know if I will ever do face ups but maybe one day I will try it. a half Dreamer I want to give them a Story and Personalities for sure. :D A Collector isn't possible because for this I don't have the money, the space and not the desire for all the Dolls. ;)

20. I'm definitely a dreamer. I don't look at my dolls as a collection. To my family it is a collection. To me it is a BJD family :)
