1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

    1. I'm a little of each but probably hobbyist, then dreamer with a tad of collector. I do collect dolls and miniatures but I love to sew for them and arrange them and cuddle them. I get very emotionally invested. I am so excited about my first girl, I can hardly wait to customize her! So the collecting is really just a way to facilitate the other two.

    2. I'd like to say that I'm a dreamer, with a smattering of hobbyist. That seems like a majority of people--

    3. For me, dreamer and hobbyist, with a little bit of collector thrown in. My dolls are my characters (and in a couple of cases, my alter egos,) but I also love sewing and making things for them.

    4. I am mainly a hobbyist, with "dreamer coming to second, and collector doesn't entirely fit me, as I'd rather have dolls I really love, not just buy and collect them because they're rare. But I mainly wanted a bjd because of the customizations. Mainly the faceups, but there's clothing, wigs, endless possibilities. The same doll can look completely different from company photos due to customization. In fact, I need all of my dolls to be unique, no faceups from anyone but me, and nothing 'too' generic(I hope).

    5. I'm definitely mostly a collector...with a touch of Dreamer.

    6. I'm probably mostly a Dreamer but I would be a hobbyist so I can at least make her some clothes if that counts. I don't know about face-ups and the other stuff hobbyists do.

    7. I think a hobbyist with a little collector. I may be a little dreamer, but honestly the dolls I want are to represent my OC's that already exist on paper...so...I don't think that counts.

    8. I'm quite a dreamer, but I believe that in regards to the BJD hobby itself, I'm more of a hobbyist. I'm not sure. I've had my characters in my brain long before they were shelled into doll form. I do find that I enjoy the hobbyist aspect quite a lot, namely through faceups and sewing. Even though I'm not quite good at the hobbyist side of things (yet), I find it incredible to even attempt to create physical representations of ideas in my mind.

    9. I'm deffinitely a collector type of person. And sometimes I wish I wasn't as this is really destructive for my finances. XD

    10. I'm definitely a Dreamer, I love writing stories for my dolls and developing their characters, so when I look for dolls I tend to look for one that matches the image I have in my mind for a character in particular, and sometimes is the other way round. I fall in love with a sculpt and I write the story afterwards.

Although lately I've been feeling like a hobbyist; trying to sew clothes. I still have a long way to go, though.

    11. Based on the criteria given, I would definitely be considered a Hobbyist.
I love to do face ups, mods, photography, sewing clothes, re-stringing, etc. :D
I could also be considered somewhat of a Collector as some of my dolls are considered limited editions.
In hindsight, I'm also a Dreamer because I like to create stories and bios for my dolls.
Sadly I lack the discipline to sit down and actually write all that info, so I just keep it in my head. :pout:

    12. Very much a collector, but mixing a bit of hobbyist, as I've learned a bit about modding, sewing and photography over time, and someday I want to try doing face-ups. But truth be told, I really just like owning these works of art.

    13. Definitely a collector with a hint of a dreamer; my hobby mainly consists of amassing the dolls of my likings. I give them personalities and background stories, but I rarely play with them.

    14. Definitely a dreamer, completely. :aheartbea My dolls have detailed backstories, personalities, and I care for them deeply. :D

    15. Definitely a Hobbyist, not rich enough to be a collector. Only have four 60-75cm dolls. I do love sewing, making food, furniture for them and taking pictures, but I'm not anticipating filling my house with them haha. Although.....;)

    16. A mix between a hobbyist and dreamer? I love arts and crafts, and that's extending to include making doll clothes as well. I'm hoping to move on to doll furniture soon. For my dolls, I shell them with characters and they're like real people to me, with their own backstories and interactions.

    17. I'm mostly a dreamer, but I have a touch of collector. ;)

    18. I'm newer to the hobby... I want to be a hobbyist, but am mainly a collector at this point...

    19. Definitely hobbyist, I got into bjds as a way to work on my designing/drafting/patterning/sewing/photography skills more efficiently. 1/3 and 1/4 scale uses exponentially less fabric and more precision in creation. :) I am also discovering I can use clothing commissions to further fund more projects, woo! :dance
