1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

    1. I'm between hobbyst and dreamer.
I only own two dolls, a kid delf and a DOC (the other dolls in the house are from my girlfriend)

At first, my plan was to buy only a little girl, then we found the boy here, for one year in the marketplace, it was love at first sight.
I bought without any sort of name or personality in mind, I just loved his face and the fact he was an old doll (7 years), somehow I felt really connected to him.
Then I gave him the name "Cedric" and imagined he'd be an ent, a tree who could shift into human. I bought his outfit inspired in Bilbo and bought some different wigs for him and we made him a crown of flowers. You see, I was (still am a bit) in a bad phase, and he is my reminder it will pass, like the seasons, and I will survive, like he does.

The girl has a much simpler personality, she's an adorable farm girl who has a twin brother. This doll is somehow my connection with my girlfriend, she has her boy version ( both has the same sculpt, but different gender bodies). I think it settled a common ground for both of us in the hobby, we have fun at imagining matching outfits for them or looking for similar wigs for instance.
For Lulu ( this doll) it's all about hobby things. I like making her outfits, looking for lovely fabrics to make dresses and research some lolita inspired looks for her clothes, also, my girlfriend makes her faceup and changes it once in a while so she can pratice at it.

For sure I'm not a collector. I would love to have more dolls if I had the chance (maybe a SD) but I don't see myself buying more right now, I'd rather cherish the dolls I have right now and get better at making clothes and taking pictures before even thinking of getting one more doll for my collection.

    2. Currently 97% Hobbyist, 2% Dreamer, 1% Collector. . . though I haven't really indulged the Collector part yet, I have compiled a list of future must-haves, have planned displays, and am saving up to indulge those dreams later. In the meantime I'll continue crafting and creating stories for my dolls. :)

    3. Mostly a hobbyist, I love customization part the most after all. I mean so much possibilities <3

    4. I take part in the creative things but apart from this I consider myself as a dreamer. I created my characters years before I joined this hobby, my dream is to find all of them a physical shell.

    5. Part hobbyist, part dreamer. I dream more than anything, mostly because I like coming up with different characters for different dolls. :3 I don't think I'd ever be a collector because I'm so picky about which dolls I love. xD;

    6. Totally the hobbyist/dreamer type.
I always love to craft and creating characters and now I can combine both with BJD.

Same as cyanox, I'm searching for dolls that look like already created characters.

    7. I put collector although I'm not a "gotta get them all" type. I also do hobby and some dreaming too.

    8. I voted for hobbyist as I've used my dolls in my photographs/art and I like the process of designing face ups for them - alas the paint either never get to the resin or they don't stay on long. Maybe I my secret-inner dreamer is trying to make characters - not sure. Eventually, I would like to start making clothes, wigs, etc. for them. Don't consider myself a collector in that editions matter not at all to me vs the aesthetic attraction of each sculpt.

    9. Hobbyist all the way! Customization is pretty much the whole reason I got into BJDs. :)

    10. I have the feeling I'm gonna be a bit of the three but most of all a dreamer.

    11. Totally a hobbyist! I don't buy doll for collection's sake and I don't give them stories or backgrounds either (except for my Soony, who is a bohemian French poet/artist girl who lives in a small attic of a shabby little townhouse) .... But boy do I love to customize!!

    12. I'm both a Hobbyist and a Dreamer, but more of a hobbyist really~ Personalisation and design are two major parts of my creative drive, so BJDs have become another way for me to express myself :D

    13. Hobbyist/collector, hands down.
I love collecting cute things like shoes, but i also sew and make furniture.

    14. Hobbyist/Dreamer. My doll's are all based off of characters from stories I have written. (of course not all in the same universe lol) I do love making clothes for them though and getting them to look just right.

    15. I would call myself a "Hobbyist" because I only have two dolls with no plans to get more. I'm very surprised at how high the "Dreamer" amount is though!!

    16. Mostly a collector. I love just looking at my lovelies and admiring their beauty. But I'm a dreamer re: picking out the right names for my dolls! :)

    17. I'm a bit of each, but I choose Hobbyist, cause I photograph them.
(even though take photos of them isn't in the list haha)

But I also collect rare/limited stuffs of BJDs, sometimes the BJD itself.
And I give them a background story & elaborate with it. :)

    18. I'd classify myself as a Dreamer, though if I didn't get migraines from small details, I'd love to be a Hobbyest! My dolls are my little darlings, and they gain their personalities pretty quick. I often find myself talking as if I'm voicing them, usually being irritated at me for doing something wrong by them. (Like not giving my two littlest ones new clothes....)

    19. Dreamer without a doubt. The dolls I buy represent characters that I have been working on for years :aheartbea
And if I fall in love with a doll that doesn't fit my characters I'll create one, even if I have to create a whole new world for him/her (this happened once).

    20. Definitely Hobbyist and Dreamer! :D Generating so many ideas for design and learning so many things along the way (making wigs, eyes and so forth) plus creating a character from the process. It gets me thinking :)
