1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

    1. A dreamer! I have so many stories and plans already. Now I just need to get the dolls, lol:aheartbea

    2. Mostly dreamer with part hobbyist, but I think this would also fit on dreamer since you do the face-up and are taking photos of your characters.

    3. I'm dreamer, but I love to taking pictures for my girl so I think i have a little of hobbyist :))

    4. I'm in between Collector and Dreamer :)

I don't collect rare / limited and full sets but I collect BJDs just like how I collect action / anime figures and other dolls like Pullips, Monster High dolls and Sylvanian Families.. Now I know alot of people argue that BJDs aren't just dolls like Pullips and Blythes etc. they are just another collectable to me. The dreamer part comes in where I can customize my doll and write their backstories ^^ That's what I love most about BJDs. Though I can't do any face-ups or make clothes / wigs; I can get someone else to bring my characters to life.

I know you can custom Pullips and MH too but for me I prefer my Pullips and MH dolls to have their factory face-ups ><

    5. Definitely Dreamer :XD: I try my best to be The Hobbyist, but I fail so much.

    6. Can't choose: I am hobbyist and collector and dreamer at the same time. I like to collect different kind of bodies, my hobby is to dress and paint my dolls, my creatures always reflect my dreams and nightmares.

    7. I'm an amateur hobbyist and dreamer. I wouldn't call myself a collector but I guess it's applicable, especially as an extension of my miniature collection and hobby. Someday maybe I'll consider them a collection unto themselves. For now I just love looking at them and making things for them and telling their stories, even if it is only in my head.

    8. Hobbyist and collector.

    9. I'm definitely a dreamer. For my next doll I plan to get, I'm going to make her my favorite character that I've created. I do try to be a hobbyist but I fail so much. XD

    10. Hobbyist! I just need a core doll or group of dolls to create around [emoji1]

    11. Oh! And your descriptions are written so well. I felt as if I were reading from a professional text (in a good way).

    12. Mostly hobbyist.. But also dreamer, I do feel like they are a company, and I do have feelings for them.
When I create things for them, rooms, furniture, (trying) to sew clothes, its for them, because I care about them, and want them to have everyting, or at least know that I love and care about them. I have given a lot of them names, and at points storys, but I tend to forget the storys about them, but sometimes it just shows up in my head like a name, and she loves flowers (for example)
And I also did that before some of them came home, gave them name, and what they where, like witch, or sisters in some kind of way, I had a story going on that they all lived in a kind of care home since they had problems, or just no parents and so on.. Not very big fantasier, but it felt like they all where lost souls in a caring place, nowhere to go, and yeah I take care of them and feel like they need the love <3 XD
(And I must be some kind of collector of them too, since its very hard for me to sell them almost impossible most of the time..)

    13. Hobbyist.
I think i have a "target" for my doll, I always have some plan about their style and photo......love to do something more "real" like photo shot, so i am not a dreamer type.XD

    14. I am definitely hobbyist - I like to do face ups and I want to learn how to make doll clothes

    15. Hobbyist- I love the customization part of the hobby. I wish I was a bit more of a dreamer, but the characters are coming along slowly.

    16. I always prefer to be a hobbyist, I'm a dreamer for characters and stuff but I don't see using dolls for them.

    17. I'd say I'm roughly equal parts "hobbyist" and "dreamer."

On the "hobbyist" side, I adore getting my little "blank slates" in the mail, and going on that quest to find all the parts to complete the character as I envision them. Finding that perfect wig and set of eyes, getting the faceup and blushing (and any mods) together, working on a wardrobe for them (need to do more of that... cough)... all leading toward a 3D representation of a character who's largely existed only in 2D images so far. Which leads to the other side...

As for the "dreamer" part, my dolls tend to be shells for characters that I love and have stories for; I've only had a couple of "impulse buys," and they've all found ways to work into stories as well. Some of the characters being shelled have been with me for decades, and are quite special to me. (The oldest character likely originally dates back to the late 1980s, as I recall using her in various projects in Elementary school.) To be clear, I do not view my dolls as actual "people" or living beings; they're not even the actual characters themselves, just representations of them. But as those representations, they're as dear to me as the drawings and stories of those characters.

In spite of my collection size at current, though, I'm really not much on the "collector" angle. I have quite a few characters for whom I want shells, and quite a few specific looks for them that require the right eyes, wigs, and clothes; while some of those are limited items, they aren't in my collection because of that limited nature, but rather because their look fits with the worlds I'm building.

    18. I'm a hobbyist. I love sewing and photography. So glad my daughter got me into the hobby.

    19. Mainly a hobbyist, partly a dreamer.
It's hard for me to create something from nothing. I need some sort of foundation or idea, or I completely lack the motivation to get it done. My characters and the stories I've written give me the inspiration I need to make something.

    20. Great question : ) I started out as a collector. I love the dolls and their versatility, the wigs, the eyes, the positions. I have dressed them and put them in a doll cabinet, but lately I've found myself buying things for them like the Hallmark Classic Kiddie cars and trikes and rement. Love rement! Sitting in the little cars or on a trike or sitting with an adorable lunch box has me thinking of their stories, and seeing how cute they are with their props, I want to photograph them and share. Whenever I see a tiny print, I think oh that would make a cute dress for Puki : ) This is why I joined the forum, because I find myself moving towards the hobbist and dreamer and want to see other people's visions and to share mine.
