1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

    1. Definitely a dreamer, part of the reason I even got involved in the hobby was because it gave me a way to give the characters and stories in my head a physical form. I'd always been involved in the arts, but I'd only consider myself a hobbyist by extension; I don't do all the creating and crafting solely for the enjoyment, but much rather because it's for these characters and what I'd like them to have.

    2. Definitely dreamer and collector. Not a hobbyist though.... crafts are uh.. not my thing lol. I have always been into collecting (vintage My Little Pony, Breyers, certain figures) so that side of me helps keep up in the doll world and get the dolls. But I'm totally the dreamer. My god. All my characters have been with me for over a decade and now they're real, new ones are starting to pop up, they connect, they are part of my heart and I love them. I love this hobby so much because we CAN make those characters real!

    3. โ€‹i am definitely a hobbyist! I am a little bit of a collector too, i like having them sitting on my cabinet looking pretty, like a gold medal! im slowly collecting more items of clothing, although i tend to make my own.

its quite interesting to read how people view themselves as a bjd owner, lots of different ideas, dreams, collections, designs etc. its good to be in such a large hobby ^.^

    4. Mostly a collector, I like to collect things, especially cute things, and I love cute BJDs. I don't so much desire to collect for them for the value of them, but rather because I find them aesthetically pleasing and fun to play with and dress up. I'm a bit of a dreamer though too, but I don't like the idea trying to force a pre-existing character onto a doll too much, so I'll come up with a character for them when I get them. I only have one doll now, but I've grown very attached to him. There's a tiny bit of hobbyist just because I like taking pictures, but not seriously or anything. I'd love to be able to make outfits, but I don't know how to sew. I'm capable of building tiny props, but I haven't gotten around to doing that yet.

    5. Combination: Hobbyist/Dreamer. I can't say that I am one more than the other at this point. I think my "dreamer" drives the "hobbyist." I am just starting too. I think I may end up more of a "dreamer" but right now I would say 50/50. lol. I like this thread! ^^

    6. I am a hobbyist. I love to sew, knit, and crochet. The BJD size is the perfect size for me. Small projects that I can finish quickly, and get a decent amount of finished projects out of the supplies I have.
There is a little bit of dreamer in there too. Though I tend to do it backwards a bit. I pick a sculpt that speaks to me, and then create a bit of the character, and develop it as I get the doll, and start making things for them.

    7. A bit of everything I think, but I guess it's because I collect dolls with my girlfriends and we often figure out a story/personality of a doll together, she makes the faceups, I sew some clothes once in a while. We both style wigs, dress them up and take pics. We also collect dolls and we got both limited and unlimited dolls. :)

I guess we're not extreme on any point, like thinking of the dolls as children, and we're not taking pics that often... I guess we could be called the casual bjd person collecting dollies? xD

    8. I'm a dreamer. But my dolls are not my children, they are adults with their own life (in my imagination, ofc)

    9. I am very much a dreamer, but I am trying to become a hobbyist too (if my health allows it).

    10. Dreamer! I spend my best moments when I'm asleep.

    11. umm .. i don't really know .. but i think i am a mix between these three kinds :XD: ... but mostly a dreamer ...

    12. I'm definitely a dreamer. I haven't received my first BJD yet, but I've already started giving him a personality and story. Although I'm probably going to have to wait to "meet" him to really determine his personality.

    13. Definitely a mix of all three! I guess I'm a bit schizophrenic LOL! Sometimes I'm a hobbyist, authorities a collector and then there's always a little bit of a dreamer in me :dance

    14. I would say a dreamer. I have different characters I draw but now I want to make the doll I'm looking at one of those characters.

    15. I find I am a hobbyist and a dreamer. ive made storys behind each doll and am slowly putting them together. enjoy making things for them etc. i do find myself saying collection allot though just because I see others saying it soo much.i prefure to say crew or something but collection always slips out.

    16. Mostly hobbyist. I like to get materials and clothes and combine them into what I think fits mostly with my doll's character. With BJD's I think you definitely need to be a dreamer as well. That's what I find fun about these dolls. You can think of absolutely anything you want them to be.

    17. I voted dreamer, because that's where my entrance into the hobby started, but I really truly hope to become more involved in the hobbyist aspects of bjds, mainly this summer ( MSC and acrylics, here I come!). I'm certainly planning on purchasing a face up practice head and working on some face up stuff before I even try to tattoo my dolls lil I hope to one day. But as for right now, I'm content with just buying dolls and pretty clothes for them :P

    18. Definitely the dreamer~ BJDs are the 'dollification' of my characters from my stories anyways. So basically part of their stories already exists before the dolls are even home <3

    19. I think mainly...sheesh, it's kinda hard to say with definite sureness, because honestly it's 50/50. Collector and hobbyist. Hobbyist and collector. I'm a hybrid of those two so I don't think I can separate them, instead I see them as a one. I've got tons of wigs and eyes and clothes. I like the original and unique looks so I get most of the clothes from etsy, and then I make stuff for my dolls too. I've amassed tons of shoes cuz I like how they look and made specific bjd wig stands for myself and to sell just so I could display/look at my wigs...

      I'm a collobbyist!

    20. Definitely a hobbyist. The dolls make for good photographic subjects, and provide a reason to make miniatures.
