1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

    1. I chose hobbyist because I love to design outfits and sew for them. In fact, that is chiefly how I interact with them because they are such a constant source of inspiration that the sewing machine keeps whirring. I am a bit of a collector, too, in that I love to add different artists' interpretations of the same mold, as well as different sculpts that appeal to me to my bjd family. I can't say I'm a dreamer because I haven't really developed set characters or ongoing storylines (just the occasional short vignette) around them. My husband, kids, and pets are already such characters, that the entertainment cup overrunneth here, lol. Sometimes it's nice to just look upon beautiful resin people that do nothing but look placidly back at me. :-)

    2. Not A Lot of people here are Collector. Are are mostly Dreamer and Hobbyist. Which is wried. I thought they be a lot of Collector. Then the others. Big of the big BJD family they have. I only I four BJD I don't see how anyone could go high, but then anything they are people here with more than Five BJDs

    3. I voted dreamer, but I'm a bit of a hobbyist.

    4. i am mostly a dreamer. i love to connect with things on a personal level.

    5. Hmmm...I'm defiantly a hybrid Dreamer/Hobbyist....combining all my skills together to make my BJD dreams come to life! And Since I'm always being attacked by my wild imagination it's very rare that I don't come up with some new Story or some new outfit design for BJD's!

    6. I voted Hobbyist but as with most I am a bit of a dreamer as well.
I dont think you could have one without the other really. If you are making outfits and creating a look for them then they would have to have a personality to base that on wouldn't they?
I would think that is why a lot of people make their own outfits/accesories too, as the character they have in mind for their doll doesn't conform to the outfits availiable to buy. Usually the type of "person" we want our dolls to be are not ones that can be bought off the shelf, so to speak.
We could get really deep here and say that is why most of us collect these types of dolls to start with as we can customise them to whatever look/personality we want, but that's a whole different thread now isn't it!

    7. I'm 75% Dreamer, 25% Hobbyist. ;)

    8. Mainly Dreamer and part of Hobbyist:)
Each of my dolls has his/her personality, and each one is actually a characteristic of mine or has a special meaning to me:
One may be my "big sister" characteristic since I am the oldest child, one's existance may be because I long for a big brither or big sister, and so on so forth ^^
And I love to take them out for pictures on special day~

    9. Definitely dreamer. What is the point of buying something and not using it or playing with. I have always wondered about those people on the Antique Roadshow who have mint condition toys~where's the joy? Probably in the money I suppose! I am slightly hobbyist but I could never see her as just a project.

    10. Hobbyist. I do a lot of sewing for my dolls and would love to learn more about face-ups. I just don't get enough time and haven't enough space at home to branch out into this area.

    11. Hm, I am a dreamer, as most are. My dolls are characters in my "dreams."

I wish I had the talent at *something* to be a hobbyist. :P

And I hope someday I will have the funds and room to be a collector. I would *love* to own a doll from each major company-- and maybe not so major. :)

    12. I'm more of a mix of the dreamer and the hobbyist. I love to do things with my girl, but I'm not strictly -good- at it. All the dolls I want are to be characters of mine who are very near and dear to my heart- I -am- a writer, and I -did- give birth to them, and having something physical to represent them is the biggest reason I love the dolls so much.

    13. I'm a dreamer :) All the dolls I plan to get are characters of mine, and I feel a kind of creator's pride in Shinya because I'm the one giving life and personality to the doll. I'd like to be a bit of a hobbyist some day, but I'm currently too new to BJD's to be one - I still feel a bit worried when I pick Shinya up xD;; I'd love to try my hand at faceups at some point, though :3

    14. Definitely a dreamer: all my guys are characters of mine, and if I had to choose I'm far more invested in the personalities of each rather than the resin itself. I choose sculpts with my first priority being how well they match the character's face with little regard to how limited (or not) said doll might be, and I'm constantly on the lookout for eyes and wigs to bring the dolls closer to my mental image of their characters. Their faceups and clothes are carefully chosen with that constantly in mind too (though I don't have the talent to do those things myself, unfortunately! :sweat)

    15. Though my girls all have back stories and distinct personalities, What I enjoy most about them is changing their looks. Wigs, eyes, posing, and most definitely clothes. Ever since I got my first, I've had way more plans and designs for outfits than my hands can keep up with. I like it that way.
      :aheartbea *hugs her girls*:aheartbea

    16. I'm a mix between dreamer and hobbyist - I can't sew to save my life, but I love the customization and picture-taking. All my dolls have extensive backstories too, some of them even have stories written about them.

    17. Mostly a Dreamer, but I just love painting and making for them, too. I'm a Dreamer in most aspect of my life, actually.

    18. Big-time dreamer with a side of the hobbyist. I kind of feel like the two go hand in hand because I'm always looking for a way to make my boys more real.

    19. Dreamer all the way.

    20. Hobbyist, I love sewing so much!! It's always fun to get a real challenge to sew something new or make new accessories X3
