1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

    1. I'm a dreamer and a hobbyist. I love sewing and photographing, and I feel like my dolls will be like children to me ^^

    2. Well, I'm in the process of writing a story actually, and I started getting dolls as a mean to have a muse for my characters. So far I have 3/8 of my characters...

So yea, I guess I'd say I was a dreamer.

    3. I'm a dreamer, hobbyist and tad bit of collector cuz I dont plan to have lots of doll to collect XD One of my doll is from char of my own story, and the other would be person I plan for his future life (somewhere not from the story). I really love taking pictures from when I was little, but I stopped cuz I start to feel I dont have anything fun to take picture off anymore due to some personal reason. But after having my doll, I feels the fun came back again, and I really wish to have a good camera again for this hobby and saving a digital camera for it (was using conventional camera). Seeing a character in real world really is like a dream come true, dressing them out, taking picture of them, and loving them is truly a lot of joy, more then anything I could buy in world. Collector wise, I really love limited edition stuff and limited edition doll, not for reselling... I just love my baby to be different somehow, a person that you cant see from every page of doll site you go or so cuz, I also a type of person that can get bored easily. Having a too common doll will slightly take away the fun from me. ^^;; (well, it dont have to be limited edition to be rare, some dolls just dont have enough attention, making least people having them. lolx )

    4. Though I have given each of my dolls a persona, and I do take photos of them, I'm going to go with collector on this one. It's not a completely accurate description - I don't have the Pokémon or "gotta catch 'em all!" mentality, but I do, more than anything, buy them and simply admire them. I am just not apt to write elaborate backstories about them, sew them clothes, think of them as individuals, or do their face-ups (some of those things I wouldn't even know how to do!).

However, I love my dolls dearly and do not consider myself any less of a BJD owner because I am not savvy on restringing or do not RP with my doll. What keeps me interested in the hobby is "completing" each doll - I do not consider my own brood "whole" until they have the proper head, body, wig, eyes, clothing, face-up, and body blushing that I desire. And obviously, each of these goals can take time to reach, especially if a head I want is limited, or the face-up artist I wish to commission is on hiatus, and so forth.

I know this mindset can be frowned upon in the fandom, but I don't mind - I firmly believe that however you personally enjoy your own dolls is the best way. ^^

    5. I'm a bit of all... I love making stuff for dolls... I love collecting them... I love dreaming up their personalities and backstories... I can't pick just one :) I'm a triple threat

    6. I think I am best suited in "Dreamer", although I also enjoy a lot taking pictures of them and collecting perfect items for their characters!

    7. I'm squarely in the hobbyist category. I love making clothes for my dolls and I've done a little customizing. They are the perfect size to sew for and they'll wear most of what I want to sew. I love other peoples photo stories, but it's just not in me to make them up ( not to mention the photography skills required!).

    8. Absolutely, a hobbiest. My interest is in the beautiful faces and bodies, and in making costumes for them. I'm new, but will likely only wind up with a couple of dolls.

    9. I'm a full blown hobbyist. My dolls help me get out of artistic slumps all the time. I love making things for them and it's opened my eyes to new loves and hobbies (shoe making and automatons). I feel more adventurous in my academic painting since I've gotten the dolls. It's been a great experience.

I also consider my dolls companions like I do my treasured plush animals and I talk to them sometimes. I don't know if that make me a dreamer (or just crazy) but it's very comforting to have them there. :)

    10. I'm a mix of all three, but to put in order, I'd be:
      1. Dreamer
      2. Hobbyist
      3. Collector

Most of my dolls and planned dolls are to be my characters, they have personalities and stories that I'd love to have tangible forms of. :D
I also love to craft and create, so making them clothes, tiny food, rooms, I can't wait to get started on all of that. It's a really great outlet for me.
And I'm always up for a LE, and I seem to be buying/collecting eyes just for fun now. Haha.

    11. I don't really feel like any of these, haha. As far as "hobbyist," I enjoy taking pictures of my dolls, but I don't enjoy sewing or customization. I don't really consider myself a "collector" with my dolls, because I collect My Little Pony and my behavior, thoughts, and buying patterns are totally different between the two interests. I know what I do when I'm collecting, and I'm not doing that with dolls. And "dreamer" doesn't fit because I'm not spending my time and effort on characterization and stories.

I guess I'm just "doll owner." XD

    12. I'm a collector primarily, but am slowly increasing my activity as a hobbyist and a dreamer.

    13. I'm definitely a mix of hobbyist and dreamer, leaning more towards the dreamer side. Being able to be any or all three is what makes this hobby awesome <3

    14. I mix too I should think? I also think maybe I am just a owner and not one of the three XDD

    15. Dreamer+Hobbyist mix :)

    16. I am mostly a dreamer, but I have a bit of collector and hobbyist.

I do display and show off my dolls like a collector, and I do like to photograph them too like a hobbyist.

However, most of my doll pursuits come in the form of giving them elaborate backstories and writing about them.

    17. I am almost equal parts of all three, but my mainly reason why I interested really of BJDs is because I can be hobbyist - I can craft and sew and paint and make dolls look just like I want.

    18. I am definitely in the dreamer category as my dolls all have personalities and some are very important OCs of mine with elaborate back stories. I'm also a hobbyist as I love the photography side of having bjds. Since I collect them I must also be a collector so I suppose I'm a mixture of all three:)

    19. I suppose I am a cross between a Hobbyist and a Collector. Hobbyist because I do enjoy sewing for my doll from time to time, and craft little things for props as well. As for Collector... Man I just love those little shoes..! I love them.. I LOVE them. :o I also feel like I have to have new outfits from my favorite doll clothing shops. I don't shop from a whole lot.. And it can be frustrating from time to time when I find I am low on funds, so as much as possible, I try to save up for those things especially!

    20. Collector & Dreamer. I dabble with hobbyist categories, but collector activities consume most of my time & efforts. I think you have to have some Dreamer qualities to enjoy the hobby. I believe imagination is the basis for every "what if". 1st is the "dream" and then comes the mustering of resources to bring it into being.
