what kind wig do you prefer( fur, fiber, real human hair?)

Jun 2, 2007

    1. Fibre!! I like both the shiny look of synthetic and the soft, thin texture of heat-resistant fibres. Mohair looks nice too, though I prefer mohair on dolls with larger heads (8/9 inch & up) and they look good if you know how to style them well. Fibre wigs don't take a lot of effort to style, but then sometimes you get random flyaway hairs that need to be smoothed out. -.- Um. I never knew doll wigs could be made in human hair :o I'd never get one...

    2. I really only like fur and Fiber wigs. I am allergic to mohair ones though they are soft.

    3. Mainly heat resistant fibre with a little bit of regular fibre and fake fur in my wig box, although to be perfectly honest I don't care for Monique wigs. Some of them look too much like Barbie hair (too shiny, maybe) for me. Flyaways are worst with Monique but also a problem with heat resistant wigs I DO like, like Iplehouse or Cotindolls, so I can't pick on Monique for that. Leeke, LUTS, CanCan and nDoll are other favourites. Soom also makes nice fibre wigs and I"m curious about their new heat-resistant type, as they look especially nice.

For some dolls, fur wigs suit them, while others look better in fibre. And for realism, having lived in Japan, I've seen guys with hair that looks exactly like fur wigs . . . :sweat Human hair would creep me out -- my own hair creeped me out when I donated it to charity -- and while I think some mohair wigs are gorgeous, I'm not sure my allergies would let me have any around.

    4. Fiber and fiber only for my collection. I find it the most beautiful to look at as well as to the touch. I've tried a number of fur wigs and in the end all of them are now gone except for one which I made myself that I'll pop on its owner for a day or two to change up his look but never for long term. In the end, fur wigs end up simply frustrating me as no matter how realistic they are, in my eyes they always equate to "wig" or worse..."furry cap". For this reason I won't even touch mohair wigs as I know their poofyness would drive me up the wall not to mention there's the whole debate as to how the wig was made/where it came from. And while human hair is beautiful for wigs I would absolutely never buy one for a doll as I think it's a waste. I personally feel that as locks of human hair are so scarcely made into wigs they should be for humans only.

    5. Fur wigs are definitely my favorite. They're so versatile! I love being able to change the style so easily. :kitty2

    6. Definitely Fibre. The fur wigs don't appeal to me that much, though I may consider them for a character who has hair that wouldn't look good with fibre... which would be interesting because I really do like the fibre wigs.

    7. I like synthetic fiber wigs, paticularly Jpopdolls and Monique wigs. You just have to be mindful of the flyaways and use a bit of water to tame them. Dollmore has some synthetic mohair with a similar look that I also really love. Regular sythetic fibers wigs like Dollzone and Dollmore can be pretty usefule too. Synthetic flocked wigs are okay on my boy for an occasional change. I don't like the tibetan lamb and real fur wigs though for my dolls. They seem too messy and overwhelming lots of times, and my cats will notice them as something to chew on.

    8. Mohair, Angora and Human hair are my favs but I also have several heat resistant synthetic wigs. I'm pretty much open to all types of wigs. The priority for me is the quality, look or style, color and realism more so than the fiber.

    9. I have a bunch or mohair wigs and one fiber wig. I like both for different reasons. Mohair is soft and very easy to brush into place, and fiber is fun to creatively style.

    10. I love synthetic fibre, jpop being my favourite, on girls. On boys I like Mohair :)

    11. Synthetic fiber are my favourites, especially LeekeWorld wigs. I don't mind mohair though...It all depends on the style and colour :)

    12. Depends on what looks best on the doll. Most likely synthetic fibers (I especially like the Monique wigs). I don't really like mohair/fur wigs - got one that I tried on Luken and it definitely doesn't suit him, so ...

    13. I like Mohair and sybthetic fiber wigs. The newer fiber wigs can be curleed, straiiightened (with curling irons, washed, set. etc. ) What I would like to see are more wigs that stretch more so they fit better. Lynne

    14. I like mohair so far...though hard to style. All im saying. Ive had synthetic and dont like it.

    15. I like the Tibetian Wool wigs in terms of how they look, though pricey. My second place goes to Synthetic wigs.

    16. I prefer fiber wigs, but fur wigs are starting to grow on me.:) I like fiber because of its sheen and ability to hold tight curls and waves.

    17. I've never touched/seen a human hair wig so ill have to say fiber! I love the way it looks and feels >< fur stays where you put it but its just too fluffy for my tastes :)

    18. I have only had one wig. It's synthetic and my only qualm is that this particular wig can't be styled. I can't move the part if I want. It is how it is and sometimes I get annoyed that one eye is always covered (usually because for some reason my face-ups come out better on the side where his face is mostly covered. I'm still happy enough with it where I wouldn't try to sell it to buy a new one (I can't picture Tovi without this hair. It just wouldn't be him somehow), but I won't be buying another wig from the same company.

When I get my new doll I'm going to try to make my own fur wig cuz I have a specific fur I wanna use (it's fake wolf fur and I already made a tail out of it and want his wig to match) so we'll see how it goes. I've seen fur wigs that look great and ones that look really fake and horrible so I'm on the fence about them.

Human hair on resin dolls sorta creeps me out a little. It looks like.... well human hair stuck on a doll's head. It reminds me of voodoo dolls or something and I think it makes the doll look sinister. :sweat

    19. It depends on the character. Emma's wig is synthetic, with waves. Mohair really would not suit her.

The other doll I'm *trying* to save for, I'm thinking mohair would be absolutely perfect.

Heat-resistant would probably work out better for Emma's hair, because the wig she has tends to frizz a lot.

    20. Fur! It's lovely and soft and i like playing with it and making different styles, though i doesn't work for all of my characters. Fiber is ok but it's annoying to maintain if it's long so the only fibre wig that's stayed in use in my house is a short one. Mohair is soft and fluffy...but i find it frustrating to tame and get looking pretty.
