1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

What originally got you into BJDs?

Jan 19, 2010

    1. I was searching about Pullip's ( vinyl doll's) on flickr and saw a minifée Chloé and it was love at first sight with her !

    2. A few years ago I was reading a blog and came across a post about BJDs, but I didn't really like the look of any of the dolls in the post so I forgot about it for a while. Then as I browsed deviantart more and more I started to see them a lot and remembered that blog post, so I started to look into them more. I'm really glad that I did!

    3. It was a few years ago. All I remember is ending up on a site that had different dolls listed on it that owners had posted. Along with their pictures were the dolls names and personalities and some other stats. I have no idea how I got there or what that site was. I fell in love with bjds from that one site though. After that the first company I learned about was Volks and even though I don't really care for their dolls (except Dollfie Dream) they gave me the hope that one day I would own one of these intriguing dolls.

    4. Alice in Wonderland themed clothing.

    5. I will never forget the first time I saw a bjd, I was busy sculpting a face and and I needed some more info about sculpting on youtube, and as I searched I saw this huge realistic doll that this female was holding, so I watched the video and I never looked back! I have always love dolls and collected all the Barbie's I could when I was small, but this is something totally amazing! I love this hobby!

    6. I can't think of one thing that got me into these dolls. But I do know that my sister was looking into dolls for a while and I just watched her and fell in love with her DreamingDoll that she got. Then I got a doll as an X-Mass gift in 2012 and I think that started the ball rolling....

    7. Last year ( I think) I was looking at different people's blogs and I found bearpicnic's. I saw her LTF Ante and I was in love. I must have asked a million dumb questions. Because I usually get a lot of money for my birthday I asked my mom if she'd buy me one and I'd pay her back once my birthday rolled around. Now I'm waiting on a LTF Luna and a pukifee ante. My mom is also considering getting a LTF Ante for herself!

    8. A few of my cosplay friends own BJDs so I quickly got attached to how beautiful they are! After that, I've been looking through the multiple companies that are available.. It took me a few years before I decided to order myself a doll, and now I'm waiting for them! I thank my friends for showing me their dolls. Haha~

    9. My interest in BJD just happened within the past few weeks, maybe months. I loved barbies as a kid and always have...(i have been waiting for my 3 girls to like them so we can all play!) But my mother in law was always a doll collector and over the past few months, she discovered BJD. We were initially into American Girl dolls for all the grandbabies but now, us mommies and gramma are enjoying the world of BJD. I'm still a newbie and have lots to learn. I get my first doll tomorrow thanks to my MIL!!! But so far, I can see why its addicting and why people enjoy it so much, Definitely an interesting and fun hobby!!! Can't wait to fully start!

    10. Anime --> Figurines --> Dollfie Dreams --> Resin BJD

Natural progression, I guess? Flickr helped a lot in the poisoning. Some dolls were just too mesmerising.:fangirl:
I don't have a doll yet, but I have no intention to back down.

    11. I blame Danny Choo... Back when I was studying Japanese in college and looking for extra study resources, I somehow wound up on his site looking at his photo walks around Tokyo. Then I saw his Dollfies and decided I really wanted one. I couldn't afford it at the time though and forgot about it for a couple years. Recently I started going through old bookmarks and ran into them again, and this time I had the money...

    12. It all started with a Pullip. A very pretty Pullip owned by Nenstra. As I was looking at her photo stream on Flickr I found that she had another gorgeous doll that wasn't a Pullip. So of course being the type of person I am, I began to research and suddenly found myself immersed in the world of BJD. As we all know, once you've gotten into the hobby theres no turning back haha.

    13. I don't remember the first time I saw a BJD, but I know it was online and I just kept seeing them in different places. I thought they were beautiful, but at that point I didn't actually want one. Moving on a while, and I was getting very bored in the virtual world where I play with my character, and he was really the only reason I was still there. Then it suddenly dawned on me that I could make a BJD of him and have him here with me, in the real world :)

Then I started the research and looking for a suitable doll, and during the time it took to do that, I got more and more interested. Now my boy is on his way, and I already think I might buy him a companion next year!

    14. There was a discussion about hobbies in a girls-only lj community I often read, and one girl has posted a few photos of dolls, where I couldn't tell, if they were dolls or real people. I was so fascinated that I had to find more of those - they were so mesmerizingly beautiful... And I have a soft spot for beautiful... So, here I am...

    15. The moment I picked up my first doll. I got her at an anime convention.

    16. I have nearly always had dolls but they were mostly sindy. .. then I got into collecting Tonner Elowyne wilde, then I saw a "Shahti" and bought her ... and omg she was beautiful.:D

    17. I was 16ish (could be 15) and I saw them on the internet (I think deviantart also started my love) and I went to a site wich sold them and I was planning on buying one but it was to much money for a 16ish girl with no job. and now I am 24 and a friend of mine said she didnt care that nobody knew what she would do but she wanted to share that she would go to a BJD convention. I begged her if I could come with her and she was really suprised that I knew what it was and now I have my own BJD and the friend and I are better friends than ever!!

    18. I've been into dolls for many many years and got curious to find out what a BJD was. I have quite a few antique repos on BJD bodies but had no idea how big this world was in more modern dolls. I am awaiting four dolls at the moment so I jumped right in. I love the Iplehouse JID and Fairyland small ones.

    19. I originally loved collecting porcelain dolls and came across a picture of Kaye Wiggs Nyssa and fell in love. I still don't have her as she is so expensive secondhand, but I do have Hope. It's funny how one doll will just hit you like a ton of bricks. Obviously it's a slippery slope from there, but so worth it!

    20. I've loved dolls for aslong as I can remember, ofcorse a little girl liking dolls is nothing special, but the old I got the more obsessed I got... first it was porcelain dolls, I got my first when I was 8 or 9... I still have her :) Then once I reached mid teens it was gothic collectable dolls (living dead dolls etc...) Then I looked into reborns, never got arround to getting 1 though xD At University I met Prowlcat (Emma) and she had 4 bjds at the time. I was smitten. I really wanted 1... but had no money so I let the want lie dormant... Then last year or university I remembered I wanted 1 and I had money... So I got my first bjd :) Dolmore kid flocke <3 I love my Aeryn to pieces <3 and since then I've just got more and more lol There is something about theses resin creatures. I'm addicted xD They are so beautiful and I love the level of customisation ^^
