It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. What originally got you into BJDs?

Jan 19, 2010

    1. When I was 10 (i'm 13 now), I saw an ad on youtube about Pullips. I did research and got obsessed. One day, I clicked on a video titled The Dolly Dork. She introduced her Pullips and she also introduced her B.J.D.. I soon discovered AsenvaBJD and Dejavudea. I wanted to get a Volks Suiseiseki ever since Dejavudea introduced her Suiseiseki. Finally, I found a person willing to sell their Suiseiseki head for a cheap price and I'm waiting for her body now. I'm so excited to meet my dolly!:XD:

    2. Like a lot of people, I saw them on DA. But it wasn't until I saw Bluoxyde's Rei on the daily deviation page several years ago that I fell in love. I googled the sculpt's company and was really overwhelmed with the price and wrote it off as too expensive a hobby. I kind of forgot about BJDs until earlier this year when I ran across some porcelain bjds at a museum. They were so beautiful and it reminded me of Bluoxyde's dolls, so I looked up the resin ones again and just started researching different companies and now here I am.

    3. Long ago, I used to be a member of the Sims 2 community. They started a thread about ball jointed dolls, and I was absolutely captivated by how beautiful they were (I was so used to cheap dolls like Barbie and creepy porcelain dolls that these ones REALLY caught my eye). I started brbrowsing websites like Soom and Elfdoll and had some dolls picked out that I loved but knew I would probably never, ever get.

A few weeks later, I discovered that Dollfair International was ten minutes from my house (this was yesrs before the fiasco, mind you) and seeing Narin/Supia/Limhwa dolls in person is what ended up selling the hobby for me.

    4. I was looking at a trick fairies shirt at hot topic, the lovely purple one, the fairy was holding a lovely little doll in her arms, I at that time didn't know it was a BJD :XD: SO i ask my friend, and that was the start for me.

    5. Tim Burton's "Corpse Bride".
I got excited about puppet animation after the movie and googled something like "dolls with joints". :)

    6. When I was in highschool, I just saw someone post a picture from DOD in her blog and I instantly fell in love. I think the model name was Sha~~
Then I got a gift from my friend, it was a Dal Maretti~~ then I started to buy my pullips and BJDs~~~

    7. Back in middle school I somehow came across Angelic Layer, and thought that the customizable jointed dolls were really cool, so I did a couple of google searches and discovered BJDs. I remember thinking they were really cool. Years later I was talking to a friend about shows we had watched growing up, and I remembered the search. After another google image search, I fell in love with the concept and researched extensively until I ended up buying a doll of my own.

    8. I always have passions for character design <3. Even tho I'm already know (a little) about bjd back in 2011, at that time I don't have enough time and resources plus I thought the body is bit too stiff. But just last week I found one sculpts that melt my heart and after hesitate for a day I ordered him right away! XD

    9. I saw a video Danny Choo made about obitsu dolls. I googled them and found Volks and Iplehouse. I cant wait to get one of my own.

    10. An ex-friend introduced me, and two years later I'm still very interested. I recently ordered my first after deciding that I wasn't going to let her figuratively get in my way of enjoying dolls. It's kind of a sad way to start out, I guess, but I figure I would have found out about them eventually anyways since I was already into Pullip and Blythe dolls before meeting her.

    11. Found out about them a looooooooooooong time ago back when I browsed dA obsessively. I believe it was AndrejA's dolls that I first got fixated with. They're beautiful!!

    12. I found out about them around 2012. I used to follow a lot of 'Kawaii-Blogs' on tumblr and one of them reblogged a doll. I found them fascinating and started searching for more informations. Back then I only knew about Iplehouse and Luts. When I told my mum she said that they are too expensive so I quickly forgot about them.

And in spring 2014 I saw them on tumblr again. I remembered them immediately and started looking for them again. This time, I found out about all the companies and how many different dolls are out there. And I could convince my mom to let me get one this time

    13. I first saw the Volks BJDs on an anime voice actors TV interview, since then Google eveything I could about them, and just recently Iv been able to purchase my first and second BJD. :D

    14. I was looking for sewing patterns on Google, when i first saw a BJD. There was a picture of an Ante sitting at her desk, she was so cute... :love (The seamstress used her fabric offcuts to dress her LittleFee).

I had a crush and this little one became my obsession^^ :aheartbea :aheartbea

    15. What got me into the hobby would be the graphic novel/manga "In These Words."
One of their characters was the inspiration for the IOS Kenji doll and after that, I was
fascinated. I started gathering information and I even did my own research to fully
grasp the world of bjd that in the end, I was hooked.

    16. I got interested in BJDs when I was in high school. I was originally looking to buy an "art model" doll... like the wooden mannequin dolls that you find at hobby stores, but I really wanted one that was more "human/realistic". So I went on a crazy hunt to find one and one day on I stumbled upon Dollmore's website. From there interest in the BJD hobby and world really took off. Although I really didn't get an actual BJD til the middle of last year.

    17. During my awkward, weebie days as a 12 year old Narutard constantly lurking around Deviantart, I would always browse through photos of BJD and pined for one of my very own. Well, now that I am older, not much more wiser and still somewhat broke, I have decided to do what I have been waiting to do for 7 years! Looking back at those times, my taste was very different and I am SO glad I was unable to buy a doll back then. It would have been something very regretful.

    18. I don't remember what specifically got me interested in BJDs as that was years ago. I think it was probably from browsing dA and seeing pictures of them. After a while, I lost interest without ever buying one. Fast forward to last Christmas and I stumble across Pullips and I ask my brother to buy me one as a gift. That sparked a new love in dolls which quickly led back to BJDs.

    19. One of my friends actually got me into them because she was starting to get into them. She was really excited about them so she kept linking me to websites and companies. Needless to say I thought they were really pretty and began to spark an interest in them myself.

    20. I honestly don't remember how I came across BJD's.
I was 13 or 14, and I somehow landed on the Luts website. I thought the dolls were just amazing...

My parents thought I was nuts for liking them, lol. My mother understood but couldn't possibly afford to get me one.
My father, on the other hand, thought they were creepy and didn't understand what I saw in the dolls. He would never have considered getting me one.

It's been years, but I'm finally getting a doll. :) DC Stacy. So looking forward to opening her box and taking her out...
