1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

What RACE are your dolls?

Dec 28, 2005

    1. My dolls are just dolls, of course, but they are light-skinned European/Caucasian types for the most part, except for Cocori, my dyed tiny elfdoll, and some Tinybear elves, who appear to be African in origin; Soah, Mir, and a few other tiny elfdolls who look Asian; and my tan Dollzone BB Ani, who (I pretend) is Hispanic. I have blue and green dolls too, but they are supernatural creatures as are my Notdoll vampires. I think of them all as US denizens (as I am myself), which encompasses any national heritage I care to imagine for them.

    2. I plan for Aine to be some Irish elf. :)

    3. hmmm, i never gave it much thought. Ill have to get back to you on that one

    4. It seems alot of you don't understand the difference between RACE and NATIONALITY.

    5. I'm not a big fan of unfairness/injustice so had to respond to your comment.
First of all - why so serious? Yes, the title does specifically say RACE, but is the thread so small that it cannot accomodate both?
Secondly, a large contingent of the forum are grown adults , who of course know the difference, but I'm sure like me, wanted to elaborate further on the character background of their dolls and/or didn't think it would be a point worth mentioning as the two are obviously connected - the tone of your comment is a little offensive as it seems to basically imply stupidity! Is it really necessary to have two separate threads for RACE and NATIONALITY? If so I think you would end up with a thread that quickly fizzles out through repetition.
This was the first thing I read this morning (before even my coffee, and it irked me!

    6. To avoid any confusion:

      Races represented:
Asian, Asian-European, European, unknown/AU human, and nonhuman.

      Ethnicities:
      Japanese (Nagi, Hiro, Akaya, Yuujirou)
      German (Schu)
      Irish-Korean (Lucian)
      Korean-German (Florian)

      Nationalities:
      Japanese
      German
      American

Keri and my incoming Io are human, but I don't know what their races/nationalities are because their world is one that exists solely in my head and it's not developed in detail (yet?). Kotengu is a tengu, and Jinx is a cat. :)

    7. Any race but not human;). I suppose most of my dolls are Elves. The others are erm..in limbo or forest dwelling gypsy's. I could not have human based dolls as
it would take away from the fantasy for me.:)

    8. My boys are mostly Asian. But I have one European

Arashi, Yuyake and Yonaka are all fully Japanese
      Louis is French however XD

    9. Like who? The recent posts I've seen, people have seperated their dolls into races and then nationalities.

I think to have this thread only about race is somewhat limiting because you can see straight off, for example, that a DCocori is a black woman. That's her racial identity, but her national identity could be anything, that's what makes it interesting. There are dolls like Elfdoll Hazy who at first glance appear Asian, but I have seen some dolls who, through wigs and eyes, appear caucasian!

    10. im afraid im one of those stupid people your talking about (though i havnt posted here before). i confuse the two often

but i dont think its anything to get so upset over if someone makes a mistake, we are only human after all

im not sure what my dolls will be yet. the only thing ive planned so far is that they will all be pale. and most likely caucasion. though i really love a few of the asains ive seen so maybe not =]

    11. Huh?

      ^
      |

Obviously this person has never even considered it or doesnt care. ^^"

    12. who? did you mean the person at the bottom of the thread or me?

    13. when you make a post it goes to the top of the thread so the arrow pointing up doesnt point to anyone

if you hit quote next to the post your replying to will show who your speaking to though =]

    14. Trinity is Canadian and Tengwar is unknown, even to me! She has lived many places, but where she is originally from is up in the air.

    15. well i hope you werent speaking to me, because if you were thats a rude assumption to make, and if you read what i said again you'll notice i said "im not sure yet. the only thing i know so far is they will be pale"

meaning no matter where they come from what nationality they are or race no matter what id like them to be paler than usual and since that would be hard to do with a darker skined doll im most likely sticking to caucasion

    16. In our "politically correct" world (well mostly in the USA), I think that people have become way too sensitive! People use all kinds of profanity and no one bats an eyelash, yet god forbid anyone mention race! OMG!
Yeah, there is a difference between race, nationality and possibly even religion, though different people interpret it differently and to some it's all one in the same.

    17. Who is mad? Sorry I didn't put a million and one smiley faces behind it, I just read through the thread and noticed alot of people writing nationalities.

Thanks for the person who clarified it.

    18. I'm not sure if you are referring to my post, but I understand the last part, the first...Qué ? Where is this coming from?

    19. oh it just seemed that way, i understand i've had people think im being rude when im not, misunderstood the tone is all =]

    20. bambi_roo28 - I think what Dollyface is referring to is your first post (please correct me if I am wrong), it's not so much the content of what you are saying, it's the tone that comes across as a little...cold or even hostile. Ok, so there's no need for 'a million and one smiley faces', but at least the graphics help to clarify the tone...maybe that's what has happened here...?

Featherfire - that was a really interesting and informative post; I did not know of 'Florian' and 'Lucian' before - so thanks!
