1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

What RACE are your dolls?

Dec 28, 2005

    1. I don't think it matters whether we mean race or nationallity. There is little point in saying that an obviously white doll is caucassion, it's like...duh...but elaborateing a bit more such as whether they are from Britain or France for example helps out a bit more. That said, it peeves me when someone says they have on doll who is Welsh and the other British as though Wales isn't part of Britain. Also, England isn't the whole country.

i also couldn't help but smirk to myself when Dollyface said "in our politically correct world (well mostly in USA anyway)" cus America really is the world...hahahah ;) j/k

/off my soap box heh :sweat

My newest boy has revealed he is Japanese to me so i'm really enjoying that and want to have some accurate Japanese clothing at some point.

    2. Very few of my children are human and only one is from the modern world, with a modern nationality.

Zachary: human from the city-state of Cauldron on the world Islandia

Nilavaj: human from a mage bubble city-state on the world of Arcane (she looks and speaks like someone from the Middle East, though)

Eilonwy: elf from Venris in the elven nation

Shane: elf from the elven nation on the world of the Blue Lady

Konnel: elf from the modern world, a native New Yorker in the USA

Aionni: winged elf from a mountain village on the same world as Eilonwy

Zip & Dip: kender twins from Cottonblossom, kender village in Kenderhome

Kilian: half-elf, half-kender from Faren Glen in the elven nation, on the same world as Zip & Dip

Akari: Kilian's sister, from the same town

Aria & Tristam: half-elf, half-kender twins born in Monkey Hollow on Islandia, Zip's children

Thackery: half-elf, Zachery's son, born in Monkey Hollow on Islandia

Alaric: half-elf from Dark Hill, a mage bubble town on Arcane

Yaazi: Linyaari (unicorn person) from a Linyaari village on Islandia

Aji & Naami: half-elf, half-linyaari, Yaazi's daughters, born in Monkey Hollow on Islandia

Juniper: 3/4 elf 1/4 kender, Akari's daughter, born in Monkey Hollow on Islandia

Nollyn: gnome from a gnome town on the world of Arcane

Rhyla: halfling from an island fishing village on the world of Islandia

Poppy: faerie kitty girl, don't know where she's from

Gretchen: demon child, don't know where she's from

    3. My boy Loki is a demon child

    4. Ok long post comin up, beware. lol

Kaiden is a Japanese vampire elf/Gryphon turned human.

      Sparrow is a American elf.

Mercy is a prototype of a new race of "humans", she escaped from the lab freeing the rest of the experiments, she is the only living survivor, or so the scientists said when they were hunting her down. She escaped them and run into Sadie, who hid her for three years.

Hunter is a Kitsune, or fox fae who would normally grow a tail each year, but Hunter was the "white sheep" of the Kitsune race, who has only one tail, even though he's 4 years old (fox years).

Sadie is a purebred electrical vampire. One of the last of the race, he lives on electricity instead of blood, as the turned vampires do. He cannot go out in the day though, as the sun will still affect him as it does the turned vampires.

    5. My doll Angel is Italian and is half demon half human :) I chose Italian because I became interested in the culture. Besides, I'm like a quarter Italian.

    6. Your post started it, but I was mainly commenting in reference to the person that got upset because you mentioned that there was a difference. :)
For example, I am Jewish and I consider it a nationality, but many people consider it a religion, while others consider it a separate race all together.

    7. To be honest, I have learned not to even pay attention to "tone" when it comes to the internet. It's so difficult to tell how people actually mean something in writing. Many people these days type short text-type messages when they write in message forums like this, like AIM, MSN or even phone text style, that it's near impossible to know what their tone is like unless profanity or endearments are used.

    8. mine is korean, her name is RAE

    9. tossing my two cents in, sorry ^^;;

race and nationality are confusing enough fr most people, but religion's a seperate monster all together. And forgive me if i come off badly here, but i've never understood the jewish as a nation thing. I could be horribly wrong, and probably am (XD;; ) but i've always considered nations as physical locations that people refer to originating from, and regardless of what time period it was from i've never been able to spot the Jewish country on a map. Then again, i generally dont recognise any significance for race/nationality/religion sinc ei dont like seperating people ^^

Back on topic, i've got a few new dolls since i posted in here. Serien, Karu'in, and Lyria are all my elven race (which still needs to be renamed XD; ). But i've also gotten Kanon, who is a seperate sort of kid all together. She's kinda stepping into the story for all my other dolls right now, so i'm not sure if her actual existence has any significance on their story (it does in her story, though @_@) but i'm pretty sure that kid's the daughter of the god of order in my stories.

    10. No offense, but huh what???!!! The Jewish country has been on the map since biblical times. It's Israel, of course! There have been many other nations that have tried to conquer and over run us, scattering us all over the world, but our country is still there and totally independent once again today in modern times, since 1948! :)
There are so many nations that have no country. These are nations with their own culture, traditions and some even have their own religion. In the USA, for example, there are many nations, such as the Sioux, Cherokee, Apache, etc. In Asia, there is Tibet, Mongolia, etc. Then there are countless nations in Africa without a country!

    11. . . . No offense taken, just, well hey, shows you waht i know XD;; I'm kinda clueless when it comes to certain things like this. I never thought of it that way. And though i'm still mildy confused in ways that would be detrimental to the health of the thread, that does make a lot of sense. Thanks, i'm sad to say i've never actually had anyone point that out to me ^^;; (and if thats coming off saracstic, its really not ^^; I do appreciate it)

    12. Word. Thank you for this post.

    13. To correct my nationality/race thing, Caucasian. She is very white. I'm talking French, English, and Scottish living in Canada.

    14. My dollies are aliens ;P

      put simply.
I havent figured out what to call their race, So i just call them aliens XD

    15. hm.

Ichijo is some ancient race involved in magic, sorcery, and shapeshifting
yuki is caucasin basicly. human. XD
and Hana is a more recent (being that she is less than 300 years old) race of pixie. Shes like a cross beyween an elve and pixie, hence why she isnt so tiny. Apperntly theres a hole lot of "elvesies" as she calls them ^^ll:aheartbea

    16. My Camine's identity changed due to bonding issues...he's now French and Irish, but he lives in England. And he's simply human~

    17. I'm glad I'm not the only one who has not wanted to give her dolls a race/nationality. It's not something important for me to define either. Although, for a future doll, I am in love with the name (well actually nickname for Guadalupe) Lupita, which I believe is distinctly Mexican (and now that I look into it, before that Spanish). xD So I'd feel weird naming her that if she wasn't at least half Mexican or something. LOL I guess it doesn't matter, since the name "Mae" has some origin as well and I haven't set any country of origin to her character...

Chrys is a fairy, so who knows. xD

On a related note, it would be nice if more sculpts could be had in darker skin tones for this reason. (But that's another topic entirely which I'm sure has been discussed at length)

    18. side effect of a globe-spanning forum is that some people will eventually and definately have no clue what they're talking about concerning things on the other side of the globe from them, especially us here in the states sadly. ^_^;

wales may still be part of the country, but it has a distinct reigional and ethnic identity of it's own, right?

oh, and if you think that's annoying, how about all those crappy "indian" dolls from the big collectible places that HAVE to have the feathers and leather, but don't look anything like any one tribe's actual dress. there may not be much of the cultural distinctions left, but we still have em, would it kill a company to actually LOOK and see that not every nation wore giant headdresses and whooped around with tomahawks before selling an item. :|

i'm SO massively glad it's not a popular thing for BJDs.

fairies, elves, and vampires are much easier to have as dolls, no global-consciousness or national identity required. :) *nods*

    19. My dolls are......international.
Their race change when I change their wigs, faceups and clothes~

    20. My doll's nationality is predetermined to be British, becuase the character he's becoming is British... but really, i didnt even think about that question/aspect at all until this thread! Haha
