What RACE are your dolls?

My MSD is from Korea but she's supposed to be Japanese. I guess that's not that far apart bit still.

 

My one full doll is from a Chinese company, but she's Japanese. The planned ones are almost all American. Siri's a second-generation German-American (also a Chinese doll), and Jacqui's parents are Iranian and Ugandan, but she was born in England and later moved to America (also a Chinese doll).

 

I totally do not pay attention to where the dolls are made when it comes to their characters. It doesn't seem as if the various companies pay attention to that much, either!

 

Some of mine are Korean, but there are Americans, and Japanese! My Elves are Korean made, but they have Japanese names.

 

The only thing I can say for sure about my dolls' characters is that at the moment, not a single one of them is Asian. I was originally going to have my story set in Germany because that's where I happen to be, so my dolls would be German too ... but since I plan to share their stories on an international forum (and want to avoid naming my dolls the same as people I know) I've found myself gravitating towards more international or even english names. That's how I ended up with a half German, half Irish girl (Katie) and a German-American (German grandparents fled to the USA during WW2, parents returned with the little kids in the 1990s - that's Lauren). My sister picked the very-not-German name Niamh for my IH Bianca ... the only sure compatriot I've got so far is Christine

 

Finch is English, Fly is a succubus, who lives in Japan as a child, Melba is some sort of weird creature who comes from France, my RS Ming is uknown, Zarafi is Arabic, and Khadija and my yet unnamed Dollfie Dream lady are both robots built in Japan!

Ashera and Amir are from Egypt.. Janne is from Finland and Gabe is American. My incoming boy Mithra is from the faerie realm but lives in the US.

Gentaro Araki dolls are very Japanese to me which is odd b/c their facial features are Western, but maybe a couple of the FP can become something else someday as I collect them all. But not yet.

It's odd to some so I'm not sure how many others 'hear' (or imagine they hear) their dolls' voices but I do and a couple of them revealed their origin and names that way in my mind in a 1/2 asleep dream state. I consider it a fancy of my imagination, me projecting into them, because they are all aspects of and reflections of myself. (so no, I dont believe they are sentient, have a soul or other kinds of independent traits, )
Souldoll Agnetha (Anaïs) has a thick French accent, Lenon (Sariel) has a heavy, bell-like 'angelic' tone and Narvy (Nastasja) also has a pronounced accent.

I do tend to lump doll character's race, ethnicity, nationality, etc. all together under 'descriptive traits' since in dolls, they are all assignable characteristics.

 

My girl would be an American. I've never given much thought to her being a different race though.

A good handful of my dolls are fantasy characters and have no race or ethnicity. They are simply just beings of the earth/universe. The ones who are human (or used to be) do have an ethnicity. Michael (Dollshe Saint) is English. Haru (Soom Chrom) is Japanese American. Aubrey (Soom Dia), Riley (Migidoll Miho), and Cameron (Migidoll C. Ryu) are American.

 

My world is based off of the 7th Seas RPG from many many years ago. They are based off of Swashbuckling Europe, with different names for the European countries. For ease, I usually use the European equivalent.

Raphaello is a Spanish bullfighter, Klous is a German alchemist, Auriahna is an Italian Fate Witch. My next doll will end up being an Arabic pirate most likely. And then the one I'm eyeing will be either another German, or a Russian/Cossack. And I'd love to have a Viking in my midst...and a SnowDemon...but these are faaaaaaar into the future.

 

Most of my dolls are Time Lords, Aria is siamese (cat XD), Erurianon is a high elf, Aari is Linyaari, and Jessica doesn't have a race yet, tho she's probably just gonna be American like the girl she's based on but yea, aurora, nero, apollo, and hoshi are all time lords

 

Well my group is pretty mixed considering their story spans a consistent multiverse... But here goes

Nowe and Eien hail from Albaster, the Faean capital on Elysium (which is a parallel world to Gaia, the "human" normal? World if you will), C and Cinder are Irish, Hyorin is Korean, Arystar is British and so are Damian and Evander (although that's a secret), Caspian is half British, half French, Finn was born in Japan but actually hails from Terra Orbis (the Green Ring, or basically the Original World's remains after its center split into the other four worlds), Lavinia was born in Septentia, a port city on Terra Orbis, Suzuran and Saint are Japanese, Mephy and Lucifer were born in Menorah, the capital city of the Nether, Hellel comes from Havenfall, a small town in the Caelum (or "heaven" if you want to call it that), Yui is half Japanese, half American, Irie is a gynoid, as is Mirai so neither gets a designated race, and the same goes for Kouki.

White skinned vampire, peach skinned elf, green skinned witch, 2 peach skinned humans, one white skinned human head. But that's just my BJD's so far. In terms of my other dolls it's a much more diverse bunch of skin tones. I usually make a point of that but I think I am actually more into fantasy than into reality when it comes to my BJD's. I don't really consider the paper white dolls normal skinned. When they're paper white or snow white that's a fantasy skin thing to me and I think I'd rather have more fantasy skinned dolls than dolls that look totally human.

I eventually want a white or green skinned RS Dai, a white RS Feng, maybe a big Mirodoll Wind in another bright color like blue or violet, and I've been thinking hard about getting a RS tiny in green to go with my Aine. I don't want a whole crew of tiny dolls but after seeing one here in green now I'm thinking it might be cute down the road to pair my big green girl up with a mini in RS green. I've always loved the color green and I really like the RS greens in particular so I would not mind having BJD's in several shades thereof eventually.

 

I don't actually have any idea I don't think they have any race, because I think everyone are the same, no matter the country. People are people. Of course, I have given it some thought sometimes and it all concludes just that I want them to be from all around the world, but I don't know from where. And it doesn't help that half of my crew are demons and other half are not from our world.. So dunno really.

 

I only have 7 bjd so far. 2 LTF's (Ante and Bisou) both are NS and would be American to me. Same with my Nappy Choo. My Iplehouse Elin is Medium skin and I think of her as bi-racial. I have a DC Merlin/Fairyland body hybrid that I think wil be an average American look when he is done. The rest are all Elves. I wish Fairyland would make more dark skin dolls. I love the rich look of medium tone skin.

 

I intend for all of my dolls to come from a world of their own, so I guess right now "Human" is the race. However, when I get to further planning of the world I ponder creating races for them; fantasy ones, of course, but "human" will still be a category, no doubt.

 

All my Iplehouse dolls are representing local lifestyle here in the UAE.. so they are Arabs (Emirati/gulf)

My fairyland Minifees I made up their names so they wont sound like a specific nationality and I made up their countries names and stuff.. coz I did not want to stick to a nationality and wanted them to have their own world.. they speak English though hehe

My littlefees are also Emirati :P coz they are my little babies lol .. they have the Arabic names.. but they have their own childish life style ;D
