1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

What was the first doll you wanted to buy?

Jul 3, 2014

    1. Thei first doll i wantee became my first doll. I dont think i will expand my family any time soon.. As i am a huge louise fan not necessarily a big dolls fan (i love them but they cost half my salary) but i also love my veeery first doll, azone louise.

http://myfigurecollection.net/item/13534 (my mdd louise ive always wanted) my first "cheaper" doll http://myfigurecollection.net/item/18554

i love them both but the azone doll is hard to move and feels more barbie-like rather than a doll. So i usually feel more attached to my mdd

    2. The first doll where I thought I'd seriously buy that was an Iplehouse Felix. The user photos were so amazing that I totally fell in love and for the first time thought "BJD might be the thing for me!" but after spending time on Iplehouse's page and being sad that they're so expensive, I backed off a bit again.
I spent many more months of research after this and then bought a different doll because once I dove into the BJD world, I realized there's even greater sculpts out there.
However I still love Felix! I would buy him if I someone got a great deal or if I won the lottery, but other than that he's no longer part of my doll plans...

    3. To be honest, I don't have my first BJD yet, but the I believe the very first doll I wanted was a Volks Mihmi. However, upon discovering the doll's rarity and value, I soon sought out more readily available MSDs. Right now I'm wavering between a DK AAAAA/MagicTime hybrid, DZ Rosen, or Little Monica's Little Sarubia.

    4. The first doll I wanted to buy was Migidoll Ryu but in that momento I didn't have enough money :c .

    5. I wanted a Fairyland Pukifee Luna. I didn't have much knowledge of their sizes, so I wanted something small and easy to carry around. She was very difficult to find since the Fairyland was sold out, so I bought a second-hand Littlefee Ante instead.

    6. The first doll I ever wanted was a Luts Delf Yder (ws), way back in like...'06? I never did wind up getting one, though. I wound up putting the money for him towards a pair of DOCs and wound up regretting it, though they did serve their purpose of getting me into MSDs, so that's something ^__^ Who knows, maybe I'll get a minifee version some day!

    7. The first doll that I wanted to buy was IOS Shinohara Keiji doll (there were only 30 of these dolls that was released). It was the doll that introduced me to the hobby so I consider him very special. Right now, I have his head, which i got secondhand, but no body yet. Unfortunately, I am not very fond of IOS's 80cm body. Admittedly, it is a very nice and aesthetically pleasing body but I don't think I'm ready to have such a huge piece of resin around me. Hybriding him is my number one choice as of now.

    8. It was a Dream of Doll SD. One of their rather old mold, even if I don't remember its name right now. It was the first BJD I saw on the web and I was impressed by its long black hair and red eyes. Hopefully I never buy it, because I discovered that I do not like Dream of doll dolls at all!

    9. The doll that I wanted for a good couple of years was the Dream of Doll Ducan. The sad thing about that is now I can't see myself ever buying him, I think after awhile I just fell out of love with him. I still find him nice though not nice enough to actually buy so every so often I will just look up pictures of him to admire for afar.

    10. The first doll which I want was Crobidolls soi, but at that time it was sold out. I tried to find another doll which catch my eyes, and I get my first doll Y-na.

    11. The first doll I wanted was a Dollzone Elsa but after about a year a deliberation I decided not to purchase her, mainly because I was worried I wouldn't be able to easily find good fitting clothes for her so instead I bought a Fairyland Minifee Celine who I still have, since there is lots of clothes available for them :)

I might consider buying her in the future, but I now have other dolls on my wishlist that I would like to own before her so we'll see.

    12. I'm assuming this means "buy new, from the company" - since my first doll was 2nd hand and of course I wanted to buy him as well or he wouldn't be here. But the first one I wanted to buy brand new was Elfdoll Red - and since DDE had one in stock at the time and I was working, it was easy to just say "ok!" and have him home in a couple of days :D

    13. I think the first doll I wanted was a Resinsoul Yao, followed quickly by Doll Chateau Hilary. Now I'm planning on a 5StarDoll Quintus girl, so who knows who it will be?? I still do want a DC Hilary, but now my favorite Resinsoul is Lan.

    14. My sister showed me the LUTS website in 2007 and I really wanted Kid Delf Bory with all my heart. Now I still appreciate the sculpt and think it's cute but am not interested in buying it when I actually start the hobby now eight years later. :sweat

    15. My first want was a Daisy Dayes baby centaur. That was the doll that broke my resolve not to get into bjd.

    16. The first doll I wanted to get was Nobility Doll's Ryoma. But because I wanted to make absolutely sure that was the one I wanted I kept looking around while I saved up the money. Then I found the Luts Bory and I jumped ship. I probably wouldn't buy the Ryoma now because the Bory changed my aesthetic...

    17. I wanted a DollZone Hid. And I got him. And still have him. And he's still my favourite ^-^

    18. Saw this in general discussion and it really gave me pause - I can hardly remember! Alarming! I was admiring these dolls for quite a while before I joined DoA, so the first doll I wanted would have been pre-2010...ugh.

One pair in particular that I vaguely remember wanting...they were boys, in that kind of wide-eyed Volks-esque style? But I don't think they were Volks. It was either two sculpts they posed together for promo or two full-set versions of the same sculpt. Light and dark theme, one was dressed in all black and one was dressed in all white. I seem to recall angel wings and an abundance of chains in the promo shots...? o_O

If anyone has any idea who these fellas were, you should totally let me know! But if not I'll just leave my mystery here as a really useless contribution to the thread :sweat

Edit: Actually...if someone knows where I could post a thread with a doll identity inquiry that doesn't have a photo, please tell me! Because now I'm really curious...

    19. I guess the first bjd I wanted to buy was one of luts, a really big one. I was mesmerised by their beauty, as these were the first bjds I saw ever. Can't remember which one, really princessy-ish. Didn't buy it, but it did get me really into them.

    20. The first doll I wanted to but was a Soom Topaz. But they were sold out and got a Minifee Rin fullest instead.
