1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

What was the first doll you wanted to buy?

Jul 3, 2014

    1. The reason I got into BJDs was this particular incarnation of cute: Cernunnos

Obviously, it's a custom hybrid so getting one like it is not gonna happen without considerable effort (plus I find it rude to steal a concept). So, I can only dream of another faun almost like it.

    2. Another one will come up, man! Just gotta wait. I like it when a super unique artist-cast shows up. Then you have your own personal standout...

Also, when a nice hybrid goes up on the Marketplace...

    3. It was a Pipos I know that much but I can't recall which one was The First. I kind of stumbled upon their website and it was like going into a candy store. A really expensive candy store. (I still don't have a Pipos, though...) Anyway it was probably the Dark Cheshire Limited edition, the one with the heart over the eye.... I missed this Halloween's limited editions as well... Their Halloween editions are so good!! One of these days...

    4. The first doll I wanted to buy was a Luts KDF Bory Boy and I did get him! He was the first doll I got after saving for some time as a teenager. He has changed since I first got him, he's now on a Doll Chateau body and has had hair and wardrobe updates but he's still the same character and I'm real glad I was able to get him as my first!

    5. It was a Volks MSD standard model, either the Mika or Myu 2010 renewals. This was obviously several years ago and I was really young, no way would my parents consent to spend that much money on a doll at the time. I don't really remember how I came across the Volks website anyway, but I was really into Takara Jenny dolls at the time, and probably stumbled into BJDs when looking for anime-style dolls. Anyway, I put them out of my mind for a few years because I decided I would never be able to afford one. But last year I miraculously procured around $300 at my family yard sale :aeyepop: and it was around this time that I was getting into sharing my fashion dolls on social media, and ended up re-encountering BJDs. So I was able to give my parents the cash and they helped me order my first doll! :aheartbea
If I got the chance, I don't really know if I would buy either of these sculpts. I think they're cute, but I have dolls on my wishlist that certainly would take precedence over nostalgia-buys. If I found one of them at a low price I might go for it.

    6. The first bjd I wanted was a minifee a-line Celine. She looked so cute on the Fairyland website. I did not buy her. I was just not ready at that time. I have gotten two other sculpts from Fairyland since then (Chloe and Mirwen). I actually like those more than Celine so she is not my top priority at the moment. Still think she is cute though:)

    7. A Delf Chiwoo, but that was a looong time ago (in 2006 or something). I just loved his cute, chubby face, but I was only 14 or 15 at the time and my parents were against it, so I ended up not getting him. They thought it was just a phase and that I would eventually grow out of it, but after so many years I think they've finally realized that that is not going to happen and they support my decision completely now.
I don't regret not getting Chiwoo. I was really into manga and anime back then, which got me interested in BJDs. That is of course not a bad thing, but I think I liked BJDs because of my love for manga and anime. Now I like BJDs because of BJDs (if that makes sense). I rarely read or watch anime anymore, but I never stopped wanting a doll. So I think it was all for the best in the end. Besides my taste has changed so much since then :)

    8. I was kinda lucky. I had one Islanddoll as starting point (still have him). But, typically of me, I came across Evan The Tamer on a Kijiji ad, was the first high ticket doll I ever truly coveted. I finally got him, and as the reigning Prince of the House, he isnt leaving!
LOL! However, once ya get a taste of a truly beautiful doll, and swallow the lump of price, it can (and has) become a bit of a downward slide! Evan now has three 1/3 scale brothers, and a darling lil Selphie "Bambuu" to keep him company.
I honestly havent seen much that I could afford now, but PLENTY that I cant! LOL! Iplehouse new carved heritage fullsett is TO DIE FOR!!!!!

    9. I think the first doll I felt a need for was SOOM Sard. His look sort of blew my mind when I began looking into buying dolls. Of course, then I saw he was sold out indefinitely and moved on. I did see a couple for sale later down the road and I did indeed contemplate the investment, but I never bought one. That's okay, because I sort of realized I only really wanted Sard for the fantasy parts. Now that I've been in the hobby for almost a decade I can sort of look at a doll and ask myself if I really need that in my collection.

    10. The first doll I wanted to buy was an Iplehouse JID Daniel. I wanted him in real skin, he still looks amazing in his promo pictures. I ended up getting my luts Delf Claus instead through the marketplace here instead, mainly due to the fact that i was a college student on a major budget. A very nice DOA user sold him to me for $300.00 :celebrate
Now that i am able to purchase more dolls, I'm not sure that i would want to buy him anymore. I just don't think he would "fit" in my doll family that I'm creating. So far I have two boys from Luts, and I love the sculpts from that company. I plan to get my next dolls from Crobidoll and possibly Fairyland later.

    11. A WS Fairyland Shushu. I purchased her from Denverdoll.

    12. About a year ago when I first started researching BJDs I was obsessed with Kid Delf Pine. I still think he's super cute! He was the first doll I ever looked at and has stuck as one of my favorites, along with Kid Delfs in general.

    13. What was the first doll you wanted to buy?
      DoD Delphine and Luke.
      Did you get them?
I got A&D instead of getting Luke the day I made my order (he was my first BJD) and I never regretted it since he's perfect for the character I wanted him for. And I got Delphine when DoD released her again. Just on New Year as the shipping date and her certificate states.
If you got them do you still have them?
Sure. I love them both, A&D is with me for almost 7 years now.
If you didn't get it would you buy it now given the chance?
I still won't order Luke since I don't want to.

    14. The first one I wanted to buy when I first started casually considering the hobby was SOOM's Phonolus. I loved the whole half-beast, half-man concept.

I was fortunate enough to see one being sold locally with no clothes and with human hands and feet. Looked legit enough but I was still too cautious and too broke to actually invest then. That was about 2 years ago.

Now, I'm still a bit interested but I've found plenty of other dolls I want more.

    15. Mine was an ElfDoll small bust Sooah she is a first generation and ...yes I still have her. I need to restring her and redo her face up and blushing. She was so different and actually my first resin ball joint doll. Funny but when I got her she came with no clothes just a black one piece body suit like a swim suit. I took her out of the box and just stared at her for days. Hahaha!

    16. The first doll I wanted to buy was a Doll Zone Clovera.
I'm a little relieved that I didn't get her, because at the time I didn't realize I was more drawn to the faceup and customization than the sculpt itself. I got disenchanted with her after seeing non-company photos.

    17. I always wanted something from Volks when I was younger,

      Now I prefer other companies.

    18. The first Doll I wanted was a Migidoll. I can't seem to find his profile so I'm guessing they are discontinued. Sad face.

    19. The first doll I ever wanted to buy was a Soom Beryl and I didn't get to buy her because by the time she had already been sold out.

If I came across her today and I had the money I would buy her!

    20. The first bjd I ever wanted was a Mystic Kids Evelyn, I havent bought her yet, but shes definitely on my wishlist!
