What was the worst accident that ever befell your doll?

Apr 26, 2007

    1. I haven't had anything terrible happen with Davey. But one time when I was taking her shoe off I kept streching the hole string because the shoe was stuck. I had to learn differnet ways to take the shoes off so that doesn't happen anymore.

    2. Several months ago, I was trying to get Max's S-hook to go into that little hole in the top of his heacap because he's older and doesn't have magnets, therefore his headcap would keep falling off. Well, I was pulling hard on the S-hook and I lost my grip and it snapped back and left a small gouge behind his ear. Luckily it's always covered by a wig. The worst part is that is was my fault.

    3. Not even two weeks ago, Emma was sitting on top of my eyeshadow case (which was balanced on top of a very small purse and a binder...D:) and decided she needed to check how cold the floor was for my feet. She took a nosedive a good 4 or so feet to the wood floor and only has a very, very teeny nick on the side of her head, near where the headcap connects. Thank goodness it's so small, and that, no matter how short a wig she gets, it will most likely cover it XDD
      Poor, silly dear.

    4. Though I know the resin is pretty safe, I'm still worried about my Tally falling from her current spot. These 'near miss' stories of dolls being practically unharmed are making me slightly less nervous!!!

    5. Wow..that reminds me, a few years ago the dentist broke part of his drill in my dad's tooth, and for the same reason, they can't get it out.

I'm being cautious with my girl, I generally don't leave her standing up anywhere, and even though she sits most of the time, at night I move her with me to my room and lay her down so she won't fall if my cat walks near her.
Some of these stories are so sad and others are incredibly lucky!

    6. Pen's stringing was really loose but I decided to try and get him to stand for a shoot anyways and he fell right on his face on pavement and scraped a chunk out of his nose :(

    7. Today at a meet Jin Kwan took a swan dive off a table. And later, at home I bumped the table Dorian stands on and he fell face first onto the floor. Fortunately neither dolls suffered any damage. My boys are tough little buggers. :)

    8. Last week I took Vincent, a Latidoll Aida, to visit my parents, who live nearly 200 miles away from my doll "emergency surgery kit." My parents have a black and white checkered floor in their basement that was screaming for me to take dolly pictures on it. I put my soft camera bag at face level so if Vincent fell, he'd hit the bag with his face, not the floor. Little did I know that whilst faffing about with the darned tripod I had to use due to the known difficulty of 35mm SLRs in darker rooms, I had nudged the camera bag just beyond his face. Well wouldn't you know it, as soon as I turned my back, he fell face forward nose first to the floor. He chipped his nose a little, but it wasn't a huge thing. I ransacked my father's sandpaper drawer and found the finest stuff he had. After a quick, impromptu sanding I washed his nose and you can hardly tell anything happened now. I used to have the "OHMYGAWDICAN'TBELIEVEWHATJUSTHAPPENED!!1one!!11!!eleven" sickness, but after watching my 60gb PS3 take a nosedive from the TV stand to a concrete floor only three days after the console's launch and survive, I just can't find it in me to panic anymore.

    9. note to self, remove ps3 from tv stand

Myself, taking Miyana -DOT E-an - off to the park for the very first time. i found this really really nice sandstone gazebo to rest her back on and pose. it was really windy so i took her wig off to straighten it. next thing i know i hear a massive crunching grinding noise, it was the back of her head sliding side first against the sandstone... caught her just be fore as you can imgine, scratched the back of her head..

heart drop, jaw dropped, sandpaper out, lots of hugs n kisses and were back to normal

    10. My worst was Kaedyn was sitting on my bed and decided to take up diving >.>
I squawked, flew off the chair (landed on my mangled-up toe, therefore KILLING it >.>), and dived across the room. He wasn't damaged in any way, which was lucky, although it wasn't a bit drop, it was my first which was a bit frightening for me :/

He now sits RIGHT next to me xD

    11. The worst was when I attempted to file longer nails for Arisa and ended up scratching her finger.

Luckily, it's not too noticeable and I easily fixed the problem by painting her nails with acrylic, pastel, and gloss. I've learned my lesson though. I think I'll just glue fake nails instead.

    12. The worst accident that happened to my doll was while I was taking some photos to him XDD
I posed Aidan standing alone in a field, then the wind blew a bit harder and he fell :o I was scared to look at his face and see it was seriously damaged... but happily he only got an almost imperceptible scratch on his nose :sweat

    13. I've had my Quinn since March and he's finally had his first real tragedy... He was sittging in a wicker basket type chair that I have for him, and it tipped over, sending his nose into my cabinet and onto a corner of one of the shelves...
He has a very large gash right in the tip of it. I dont have the money to get it fixed yet, but as soon as I do he's going to be sent away, fixed, and re faceuped... since he has to be now. =[
      I like his face too.

    14. My doll was held hostage by customs for two weeks, then arrived in a box that looked like it had been through a nuclear war. Two of her fingers were broken off.

    15. I cant agree with that more O__O

    16. Never thought I'd have a story for this thread... :sigh
Well, Friday night, my coworker wanted to meet Jay, so I settled her next to my purse on my drafting table, braced her hooves on the edge, and went to grab my lunch. Hear a small "shff-thunk" noise, then return to the room to see her face down right next to the rug. Yep. Concrete + slightly pointy Beryl nose= Cracked, smushed resin. I thought my heart stopped, but I quickly whipped out some high grade sandpaper and gave my girl an emergency rhinoplasty. She now bears a tiny, and I mean tiny, scratch on the underside of her nose.

Oddly enough, looking at her now, I love her new nose more than I loved her old nose. Considering how much I love the Beryl face, something about her now just endears her more to me. It's crazy.

    17. Megami sat on my bag on a steel bench when somebody plumped next to her, causing her to smash forward. Her nosebridge hit the steel pretty hard and I feared something might have happened. But all that happened was a small stain from the paint which I took of with a wet finger and nothing more.
Tsuki's floating head once fell of my desk, but only her headcap came off.

    18. Judas was with me on a Convention, he was sitting in my bag and I was always holdinghis head (for being safe nothing happens and his wig will not get lost *_*).
      However, my girlfriend stumbled, hit my arm and knocked Judas' head off ;_;
The head flews away, rolled across the floor which was covered with tiny little stones and stopped then.
I screamed so much; gladly nothing bad happened. He had a small scar on his nose before and after the accident it wasn't bigger than before °__°'

    19. I never thought I'd have a story for this thread either :sweat I had been attending a convention in Atlanta, was on the way to the doll meet, and was carrying Katet, my Rengemaru in my hands. I noticed that his wig fell off, I stooped over and put the wig into my bag because I figured it would be less of a chance to lose it there, but when I actually got to the doll meet, the wig had fallen out of my bag. :( Some other doll owner found it and returned it to the panel, and they announced it, I had to raise my hand that it was -my- doll wig. It was so embarassing. Then, at that same meet, a person managed to accidentally bump into me and poor Katet fell from my standing height onto the hard floor! D: Luckily, there was no major damage, and I tried not to act out, even though it gave me the scare of my life...but I looked like such an irresponsible doll owner to those people I bet! :sweat

    20. one of my blythe's eyechips fell into her head once, and i had to clench my teeth and scalp her.....s'all good though, i gave her sleep eyes to make up for it.
