What was the worst accident that ever befell your doll?

Apr 26, 2007

    1. It's awful to admit but I'm sure there's been a time where you've accidentaly done something to your doll.
      What was the incident?
      How did it happen?
How did you feel after it?
Was your doll mad at you?

Last night I finally finished the shirt I was making for my doll, and I dressed him carefully, (gotta protect them fingers). I admired him in his new garbs and picked him up all gentle-like, as I always do. I went to set him back down on the shelf and wham! I dropped him! Luckily his butt was only like two inches away from the shelf, but it still made a pretty loud thump. I felt so awful :( I could feel him looking at me like, "...Ow! That was my as*!"
My poor baby.... Share your story???

    2. What was the incident?
      Snwo crash
      How did it happen?
My old American girl doll Kailie's boogie board= MSD Dannys new sled...went WEE! :D down the hill...until the landing..ouch >__<
How did you feel after it?
Well...between I should have had my camera and how I couldn't run fast enough down the hill to where he was.. :sweat
Was your doll mad at you?
Ohh...Yes. He was plain out pissed. >__<

    3. Well I finaly have one granted it was a few months ago.

My poor el has a eyebrow from his default face up from luts that just keeps dissappering so finally after much heart felt thinking I decided to get his face up redone by a friend who does my other dolls face ups.

I sent him away and about a week later I got him back. He looked wonderful. i got him home and I decided to added some pink glitter gel to his eyeshadow like I did with his other face up.

I used the wrong stuff or somthing cause it looked goopy so I took some non acaton figuer nail polish and was wiping it off when I kinda melted half of his face up off.

I had to call my friend and drive a half hour in the fog and rain very upset with my El to get his face up redone. Its ok now and she even added the glitter and gloss I wanted. She like next time tell me you want it don't do it yourself.

So luckly nothing more other than the mysterious bit mark on my EL boy bits but that sanded right out HEHE.

    4. What was the incident? I took one of my boys to a doll show and his faceup got scratched in the carrier, god knows how, and another of my boys fell the day before his first meet and snapped both his ears off, it took me 40 minutes to find one, and then glue them back on

How did it happen?the scratch happened in the carrybag, I am not sure how, but I think perhaps his jewelery slipped out of the pocket I had it stored in, and scratched him. The broken ears were due to me standing him on an uneven floor, and he got "tired" suddenly collapsing after standing solidly for several minutes.

How did you feel after it? very very angry with myself

Was your doll mad at you? nope, the face scratch went over fine, though he is now gettign pissy wanting a new faceup, the other I was too mad at myself for the doll to be mad

    5. Oh My Gosh! Some of these accidents are just terrifying. Here's the few (thankfully) that have befallen my boys.

Elgin (DZ Wing) has taken quite a few dives off of things. He was the first doll that I actually carried around with me anywhere, and he was the first doll that I learned things with. Although he wasn't my "first doll" he was my "newbie beginner doll". He's the one that has taken multiple spills and has undergone tattooing and an attempted enhanced face-up (from someone who didn't know the right stuff to use. Now he has an artist's face-up) Anyway...

Today, I had set Elgin on the end of my bed with his feet dangling over the side of the bed. I had been messing with the pants that were on him (I'm practicing sewing and this was my first attempt) and I had walked away from him for a couple of seconds to get some scissors. I had barely turned my back when I heard "BAM!" and Elgin was on the floor with his head up against my nightstand and his legs twisted and backwards. I could have died right there. He had fallen, slammed the side of his head (where his little ELF ears are) on my nightstand. Honestly, I had a heart stopping moment.

He was fine and everything and afterward I had joked to myself about him only wanting me to take off his clothing (I had to check every inch of his body and face for damage). Also, Elgin really hates his pants and does so many things to make me take them off (He acts like he can't stand and wear pants at the same time, he constantly twists his legs backwards and I can't fix them without his pants off, and his pants always are coming unbuttoned or they somehow get pulled down below his hips)

    6. My daughter and I had a few vodkas and the world was a bit wonky :|, and decided to show her my new doll. The doll was still in her box on a high shelf in the wardrobe, and as I got the box down it opened and she fell a good 6 feet. Luckily said dolly fell on the carpet between her cushions, and her face plate fell right side up. Talk about a lucky accident as she got out of that one unscathed. That is my first serious accident with a BJD, but it freaked the hell out of me.

    7. I've only had my doll for about 3 weeks... and she's faceplanted onto my hardwood floor twice ;_; Fortunately she's only got a very tiny unnocitable mark on her face and a shiny mark on her arm... She's got a pointy nose so I was so surprised when I saw that there were absolutely no mark on her nose! Wow resin is durable. Still... I'm taking no chances and will wait till she has some stable shoes to stand her.

    8. There's this corner of the fireplace in the living room at my house that looks like that of an elevator in a high-class hotel.
Not IN the fireplace, but near it. Thign is, living room = hardwood floor. I thought it'd be safe if I was very close and able to catch him if he fell while standing...
But apparently not, because the moment I back way to get my camera, BAM, he falls over face-first.
I swear my heart stopped and dropped into the pits of my stomach right there and then, because I just KNEW something had broken - saw a couple of pieces go flying.
At first I thought it was his nose, so I checked his face and face-up first. Luckily, absolutely nothing had happened to the face, not even a scratch to his face-up or even the sealant covering it. His nose was still perfectly intact.
      The parts that broke off were his entire right ring finger and half of his right pinky. I was heartbroken, and to top that off, I had only had him for about a month. ;A;
Luckily, super glue was all that it took to reattach them, and you see where the fingers broke off unless you lean in real close. But I still felt awful for the whole week after. >A<|| Still worried though...
      I have a sneaking suspiscion that his legs might've been damaged from the fall, because the knees seem to be a little wonky at the moment... but there are no cracks or anything I can see when I went to go check him over for damage. >__<;;

    9. Luckily, Yoshizo (my Iplehouse Barron) hasn't been in any accidents. However, I accidentally dropped my Miho head (who still doesn't have an official name) recently, and the little hook on the inside of his head broke off! :doh Fortunately, it was still in one piece, and my friend captnklaus fixed it with superglue, but it was still scary. :(

    10. I was new to sanding and had finished all the seams. I then tried my hand at finger separating and thought all I needed to do was sand alone. I didn't realize how much damage I was doing until one of her pinkies was really pointy and thin :(
      At least now I have an excuse to buy some if those fist hands I wanted ^^;

    11. One day my boy Cameron was sitting nicely on the dresser as he always does. The cat decided to go and visit him, so up she jumped. Unfortunately she was not careful and pushed him off like Garfield pushes Odie off the table in the comics. Poor Cameron had a spill, and ended up losing a finger. I rushed to his aid and after some superglue he was all better. Now the cat is no longer allowed on the dresser!

    12. Luckily nothing serious has happened yet, but today my boy decided to take a fall while I was on the phone. His head cap came off and when I rushed to see if he had been hurt I discovered a piece of his eyebrow had somehow been scraped off. Now he looks even more like a thug. He seems oddly pleased with himself though.
Nothing broke at least, but I never realized how easily a face up can be removed.

Somehow I get the feeling I will be posting again in this thread in the near future ...

    13. I'm pretty sure Chrno's fallen off things before. Like really epicly tall things. And probably headbutted something. He's a littel trooper. 8'D

    14. I'm very paranoid about letting any of my guys stand alone when I'm not within immediete catching distance of them so I've been pretty lucky so far with nothing too major. However, once when I was visiting my parent's house for the holidays and had all the boys in a row sittin atop a shelf over the computer monitor one of them decided to give me a scare -_- And amusingly enough it wasn't even any of the boys with a body! Nope, it was Isia, one of my two floating heads who I had sat down nestled in a fuzzy blanket that for whatever random reason just decided he was tired with the indignity of having no body and all but catapulted himself off the shelf.

He landed in the area of the living room that has no carpet and as he has no wig or anything to soften the blow, needless to say the cracking sound that emitted as he hit the floor was quite the frightening noise O.o I still have absolutely no idea how that happened see he was set up there quite safely, but fortunately he came out of it stronger than ever :)

    15. My boy's not here yet but i kinda have something funny that would've been horrible for my boy happen the other day XD

I was showing my parents the pictures of someone opening their own Yan Di, when all of a sudden i came to a picture of Yan Di sitting up in his box with no eyes, no clothes, and no hair.. now, BJDs are beautiful...but some of them just look down right freaky without their hair XD (in my opinion) So then suddenly about .5 second after i scrolled to the pic my dad blurts out "OMG ITS AN ALIEN! XDD" . . . i actually felt insulted FOR yan di XD i laughed though, he DID look kinda weird. :aheartbea i luv my dad XD

    16. I haven't had anything horrible happen yet, but I have had dreams where horrible things happen... like drops that break fingers or really oddly... nipples.

I did have a pretty horrible time removing a face up from a head I bought recently... the remover I had used a TON of times before apparently didn't agree with this resin and softened it... there's a bunch of chips and scratches in the face now... but it was a cheap practice head so now it gets to be practice for repairs as well =/

    17. Tamas is my problem child..... He arrived on a Tuesday looking chipper and glad to see us all except he needed his freckles. Redheds have freckles, you know. So Saturday, I apply some cute little freckles and spray his face with MSC. The MSC bubbled a bit and in true were-you-sleeping-during-the-lecture style, I grab a paper towel to dab at it and off comes a strip of face up! No amount of work would get rid of the hard line where the paint had rubbed off so I wiped his face. The non acetone I used is pink dyed and dyed one side of his face bright pink! He's pink skinned but this looked like a streak of paint!

I remembered reading about something like that in the workshop so I hurriedly looked the thread up and with Mr Clean and some elbow grease I was able to get rid of the dyed streak. I reblushed his face, freckled it and MSCed it and strangely enough I like his face even better than I did before! Yay!

Then not a week later I broke his thumb off! I guess I put pressure on it trying to take a bottle out of his hand. But it's glued on and I will blush it to look like a scar. He's a blacksmith after all, scars happen

    18. Something happened to my Dollmore Pado, Kazuya, but I wouldn't exactly say it's an accident. @_@

I'm an aunt to two nieces and two nephews [all from the same brother x.x]. My nieces absolutely adores my dolls! One day while they were over, I brought Kazuya out for them to play with when one of my nephews came over swinging a necklace AT poor Kazuya. It ended up smacking him a few times on his leg and I screeched. My brother came over and dragged away my nephew while I recovered from a heart attack.

My other brother commented on how I was the best aunt ever since I was more concerned about my doll then the possible dangers of my nephew hurting himself. XD Best aunt ever. I know!

    19. My family would have been running for shelter about then... waiting to see how badly I killed the smart ass.. I have tons of patience with children and NONE for their adults who can't be bothered to supervise their kids!

    20. Once again a dollie injury occurred because they don't like to stay on shelves. I put my El down, he was in sitting position, next thing you know, as my back is turned, he flips over the edge of the shelf. The newly painted shelf. The one with that oil-type paint tricks you into believing it's dry, only to ruin your doll the next moment. :(. So I pic him up and there's a paint scratch right on his forehead, over his eyebrow. :...(
