What was the worst accident that ever befell your doll?

Apr 26, 2007

    1. Think my dolls have done more damage to me than themselves. my big, superhero body E.I.D Kamau came crashing down, chest cracking against my forehead, as I had just lent back after posing him standing. Made ever such a sickening crack. He was absolutely fine...my forehead was a rather nice bruise colour afterwards.

    2. Sarah lost a finger, luckily I found it
though if they lose any limbs I'll make a mechanical looking one for them lol

    3. Lord my Shiwoo Riven came back from getting a new face up by Buff. I was so happy I put him back on his body and went to set him near my godo. He normally sit very well but today he seemed like nope not going to do it. So as his butt hit the shelf he kinda straighten up from a sitting position and slide down my self. Its a fair drop for a doll his is size. I grabbed him and checked him over he had fuzzy on him but that was all. He fell into my stuffed animal collection and my dear old Pikachu saved him. The the power of pokemon for you.

    4. Eh...I chipped my biggest boy while changing him.

Well, he's one of the soom MDs and I don't have a body for his twin. So, for easier storage on my bed, I need to remove his hoof parts. So while doing so...somehow the string snapped back into his body and this large chip flew onto my laptop. (I re-string my dolls on my bed.)

I thought "holy **** I chipped his ear!" but it turned out that I took a chunk from his knee joint area. He stands with no problem, so I didn't glue the chip back. Neither have I swapped him after I swapped the parts again.

      But after the chip, he 'chipped' me right back. The s-hook dug into my thumb and I bled all over him. -_-; He's good at getting his revenge. But my thumb's all healed now. So not much harm done... >_>;

    5. nothing serious, but my doll Toki has the smallest dent in her forehead. I sat her next to me while my friend and I were getting buckled up in the back seat of the car and WHAM! went my friend's buckle into her forehead as she was turning towards the thing you click it in. I have always made fun of her for being so rough even when she thinks she's gentle XP I forgave her after having a heart attack as she was my first doll and I hadn't had her for a month even, lol

    6. My Cheshire got chewed by the previous owners dog. Should really finish its restoration one day.

    7. I had brought my SD boy into class to demonstrate joints or something (I can't remember exactly), but I stood him on the table and stepped away. Next thing I knew he took a dive off the table, taking the teacher's projector with him, and fell on top of him. THANKFULLY he made it out with only a bit of a blue scuff, and the projector was unharmed.

    8. My new girl that I've only had a short time took a tumble off my desk a few days ago. I had a small heart attack, fearing she may have chipped her faceup since she landed face down, but THANKFULLY for some reason I had a blanket folded up on my floor there and she landed on top of it. Just a few minutes prior I had been telling one of my friend that for a small SD head she has rather large ears. Larger than another dolls from the same company wit ha slightly larger head, and even bigger than my EID boy's. So it was kind of like...I mocked her and she got offended and tried to kill herself.

my Bichun has a small mark on his head from his headcap coming off and falling, hitting a few things, before landing on the floor. I really wish Iplehouse would add some kind of notch to them or much stronger magnets.

    9. When I took my Heliot out for the first time, he face-planted on a brick walkway and his nose ended up cracking (stress fractures). It's hard to see in person, and nearly invisible in photos, so I'm not terribly upset about it. Plus, it's been over a year, so... yeah. Unfortunately, a few weeks after that, our kitten was jumping on the entertainment center where we used to keep our dolls. I'd been trying to teach him that he couldn't do that, but my boyfriend was really not helping (holding him up so he could see, putting him up there to play, and yelling at me when I scolded the cat and cuddling him). You can easily guess, but he ended up knocking down several of our dolls, including my poor Heliot. His ear ended up chipping off at the tip. I'm still pretty upset about that, less at the cat (for being a cat) and more at my boyfriend for not taking my concerns seriously and undermining everything I was trying to teach the cat.

Other than that, no real accidents that caused damage. I've dropped heads, dolls, they've fallen. Meh. No harm, no foul.

    10. Can't speak for myself...my doll has had no injuries up to this point...besides being stained my the dye in his pants when I first got him (but nothing that a magic ereaser couldn't fix):D My friend, however had her mum drop her heavy purse on top of her doll Sorell's traveling bag and chipped his faceup!XD lol to this day she still denys it was her fault!

    11. While I was carrying my very first doll, my cat tripped me and I went crashing into the patio door. My doll ended up breaking a finger.

    12. I hadn't had any notable accidents in all my years in this hobby...but recently, I was attempting to grab my dolls' box off the shelf and they took a tumble. I accidentally fumbled the box and then it came falling down (hitting me on the way down). I was really concerned because neither of my dolls were strung (awaiting blushing), but when I opened the box only one of my dolls had an issue (a tiny dent in one shoulder socket). I was counting my blessings!

    13. This is so strange, but I find I'm really drawn to this thread; Emma hasn't received any damage, but she has had her share of bumps and accidental nosedives.

She's fallen onto my lapdesk twice (but it was my fault, because I kept forgetting she was next to me). I accidentally made her hit her head on a mirror trying to put her back up to where she fell - it made such a big 'clunk' sound, too! Then, there was the time I was going to bring her to a class I had, to show people, and when I was coming down the stairs from another class, I bumped my bag on the railing. You have no idea how much I'd rather my computer have been bumped instead of my doll. The computer would've been fine, though, but Emma was in a plastic bag (sans face protector!) in the same bag as my computer.

    14. It was my husband, when he was trying to stand Zhile on the table. His knees buckled and his head hit the table. The wig flew off and so did the headcap...and one of the pegs that attaches the cap to the head broke off. :( Aaah...my husband felt so bad, but it was okay. I mean, I have no plans of selling Zhile and at least it was inside the head. Of course I felt bad seeing how expensive BJD's are. But it was an accident. And even after that, Zhile is still my fave.. :cheer

    15. Well, let's see...

      1. CH ange ai took a dive from the top of the Xmas tree and landed head first; totally unscathed.
      2. Dropped my girl's headcap down the stairs, no damage except for the company plate falling off
      3. Doll fell from standing position, whacked face against a large flower pot, and one GLASS eye fell down from the 2nd storey to the ground level and BOUNCED off the concrete pavement. (doll and eye undamaged amazingly.)

Save for the usual faceplants, I think that's the worst of it. Ironically, a face-first into carpeted floor did more damage to my Cloud than anything else. -_-

    16. Keigo, my beloved Volks Hijikata fell on his face while standing on laminated flooring. My dolls are used to a couple of falls here and there but this time, his nose was dented! I really panicked and was on the verge of tears when i browsed through Doa. Read about the boiling water thingy. Tried that in desperation and viola! The dent really disappeared!!! I still think its a miracle. XD

    17. One of my dolls fell from the table..good thing the floor was carpeted and the table wasn't that high

    18. Oh yikes! This might sound horrible, but I'd actually like to see a picture of that. How badly did the dog chew it up?
On the other hand it sounds like an interesting modding opportunity, a lot of people are afraid of messing with their doll right off the bat in case they mess up or something, but I always see it as "A small crack or mistake can be turned into a battle scar or...a new hole for an extra limb...or wings."

    19. I had one of my Heliots crouching on a table at a doll meet. The entire table got bumped and my doll as well as several others went flying. He fell backwards and his wig, head cap and jewelry came flying off at an amazing speed. Everything fell onto the floor. I thought my heart was going to stop. Fortunately, he wasn't dented and no one else's dolls were hurt, but after that, we ended up moving the boys to a different location where there weren't as many people.

    20. Emma took another nose-dive off the couch a few hours ago. It was my fault though. I had set her down on one end of the couch, then I went to sat down, which shifted the slipcover, making her fall off the couch and nose-dive (face first) onto the floor. It's carpeted, so nothing happened; head cap came off, and rolled away a little - but that's all.
