What was the worst accident that ever befell your doll?

Apr 26, 2007

    1. I had my Juri posed with one foot up on the curb of the side walk. I took a picture and in the instant that it took for my eyes to leave the camera and go back to her she decided to fall. Thankfuly it was backwards onto the sidewalk and not face first on to the asfault, becasue I was not close enough to catch her.
No damage was done.. her super soft leeke wig lessend the blow. Still there is that horrible sound that a doll makes when it falls... a hollow "THUMP!"

Lesson learned: Always have someone spotting your doll when you do photoshoots!

    2. The thinned part of Riku's thighs (the top part that the knee ball goes into) cracked through no fault of mine and I never got Luts to get me replacement parts. On his one year birthday one crack spread causing a pinkie finger nail sized piece to break off. I glued it back in and it seems to be okay, but that is the worst event, particularly because he is my most expensive mini. x.x

Second worst would be my LF Ami falling off the counter at Build-a-Bear and breaking a pinkie. That wasn't so bad, though, since hands are pretty cheap so I just bought another pair.

    3. i hate doll accidents!
My big girl fell face first onto cement during a photoshoot in japan! Her wig popped off....headcap popped off....and now she has this nice chip in her forehead!!! sanding it out isnt really an option...it'd change her head shape too much......and that'd mean redoing her faceup anyways

my little girl snapped her pinky off...i know THAT is fairly common though...
if it was a bigger doll, i'd just blame the lack of finger on the yakuza...

    4. Nothing too bad.

Sharmin (my first) flung herself out of my grip a couple of times (she was a bit kicky). I also had a very hard time getting her headcap off, and when it finally let loose, her ears went flying! No damage though.

My Bambicrony likes to smack herself in the face (kicky arms). I now put her arms behind her back when dressing/wigging her unless I am putting on a shirt.

And my Narae got attacked during a photoshoot as I was ready to shoot - you can see the blur where the cat's paws went - a very fast two-pawed attack to the head, but the wig was the target and Narae is OK.

    5. I found out the hard way that dolls and an enthusiastic five-person Wario Ware: Smooth Moves competition do not mix well. 'Nema took a Wiimote to the shoulder, fell off the table onto our hardwood floor, and broke a finger. The evening ended quickly after that.

    6. Hardly a week after I got my first doll, he fell off my kitchen table, hit the very edge of the table, then met the hard floor. A tiny part of his wrist joint cracked off and his eyebrow was scratched. For an extremely new owner, it was a very, very scarring experience. XD;

    7. I'm glad my doll isn't the only one whose had to deal with falls and tumbles..We were outside trying to take photos of the boys..when I wanted Yuki to be all sexy. He already had scuffs on his feet. Because when we got him we wanted to take pics and had no shoes...well..I wanted him to be all sexy and look like he was stripping while standing on concrete which was 2.5 feet off the ground. The wind was blowing..his shirt was stuck around his head and arms..and he fell..backwards..and I don't know how he did it but landed face first..His face was fine..but his shoulder has a small chip in it..I tried sanding it but it wouldn't go away...So I don't know what to do now..Another time..we took the boys to subway..and my sister shoved Yuki into her messenger bag..and she had the bag against the wall when she sat in..when we got home..Yuki was missing a finger...We glued it back on..and you can see it but only if you look closely...but she still owes me a pair of hands for him. I think my cat got to Yuki's neck as well. 'Cuz there looks like tiny pin prick vampire kitty bites on him. I wanted to strangle that cat when I found them. >_< Sorry..I know this is long..but..I remembered another one..When we got their heads back..I decided to suprise Ariel with putting Shiro's head back on...well Yuki's head was the more complicated one and I got it on okay..but then when I tried to put Shiro's on..he came completely unstrung. And as a first time doll owner I freaked. I called her sobbing. Thanks to someone on doa..they told me to get a shoe string and pull the string up through. I fixed him. ^_^

    8. I decided to dye my So Ji blue. I dropped her head into the HOT dyebath. Her poor nose flattened on one side. Now her nose is weird looking.....poor baby.

    9. My naughty boy cat, hide, decided he would try to snack on Rook's fingers. T_____T There were little teeth marks on the fingers of his right hand that I had to try to sand out. I was very sad when it first happened because I had only had him for about a month.

    10. I've had a few broken fingers, but the worst was when my Lishe fell out of my hands onto concrete. She landed on the back of her head. No cracks just her eyes loosened up in her head. I was surprised it was nothing more.
Also Ltd. Redemption Moon head fell out of my hands onto ceramic tile floor. Not a scratch or mark on it. Those Luts heads are tough !!!

    11. I left Shoko, Mistral, and Yako's Arisu standing on the table when I had friends over. I warned them DOZENS of times that Shoko and Arisu don't stand well. One of my friends hit or jerked the table or did something ((purposely)) to make them fall. Shoko fell. Mistral stood ((I told them she stands like a rock)) and Arisu fell and chipped her eye a bit >.<

    12. When staying at my sisters the night before a convention I had been fighting off my neice who was two at the time all night. Finally I put my girl up on the entertainment center and thought all was well. Somehow she fell and landed on the hardwood floor, luckily she only ended up with some smudges from one of the toys she hit on the way down leaving weird red marks on her legs. The red marks came off and she came out intact. But I really feared for her nose as she landed face first. *_* Of course my sisters comment was that I should have just let my neice play with her and that it was all karma coming back to me.

    13. I think it was probably when the s-hook in one of Dakota's hands snapped off (Came right out of the resin in his hand o.O;). I had no clue what I was doing, so he sat with a pencil in his string for about a week before I could touch him.

I felt horrible, but eventually I got it fixed and he's back to normal.

    14. The second day I had her, I thought she was balanced ok, so I let her stand on my nightstand. About an hour later I heard a loud noise, and went to investigate. Apparently she took a nose dive off and hit the nightstand a bit on her way down. She ended up with varnish marks on her leg and wrist and on her forehead by her eyebrow. She has body blushing so I couldn't really use a magic eraser. I rubbed a lot of them off with water and a soft cloth, I'm just glad nothing chipped or broke.

    15. The scariest time with my boy happened just on Sunday evening when I took him for a photoshoot at a local church. My mom was standing behind me when she suggested I get a shot of James standing up on the balcony, looking into the grotto.

He was standing fine until some wind blew him off the balcony and to the asphalt below. I never screamed so loud in my life. He broke three fingers on his right hand, along with the tip of his index finger missing, broke to large chunks out of his left wrist, and now has some pretty wicked holes and scratches in the left side of his face.

He's currently sitting naked and eyeless in his box, awaiting repair to his face and wrist. After I have the money, I'm buying him a new hand, lower arm, and head. (providing DoD would be willing to sell me just a lower arm and Homme Ducan head.)

    16. I gave Saiyo a bad wig-cut... but other than that, my dolls are very very well taken care of. hahaha.

    17. Even though thats sort of unfortunate..I just had to laugh a little at the randomness of it all xDDDDDD

    18. Um.. having poppy for only a couple days.. shes only a head xD well i grabbed the back of her head.. and her face fell off the headcae and bounced on wood floor, i was scared she might have chipped an hear or squished her nose but she was fine ^^

And Shoe... hes been through alot in the two months ive had him xD.
Faceplants into various floors and tables.. thankfully nothing too high tho and no marks or chips anywhere. He is quite dirty tho lol.

    19. My poor Sharmin lost the little finger on her left hand on her way here from Korea.*snif*

    20. Ragges: I feel for you :<. I'm paranoid about my Sharmin's fingers, they look so tiny and fragile.

I think biggest threat for my dolls is my own desire to mod them. I try to keep my hands off my other dolls (well, I've slightly modded them all), but my Elfdoll Red hybrid is heavily modded. She's still not completely done. I'm sure many people would think I've ruined the mold. This same doll has had most accidents out of my dolls; I've dropped her head many times and her eyelid has a bad scratch from when a tool I used for her eyes slipped.

One of my dolls foot randomly fell off when the s-hook gave in, but I can't remember if it was this same unlucky doll (still on the Elfdoll body) or one other.

I'm always somewhat scared to restring my larger dolls. I don't know if I'm just really clumsy, but a couple of times the doll parts have been flying when the metal wire has given in and the string gotten loose suddenly. (I admit that I haven't used proper tools like hemostats though . )

      My poor dolls xD.
