What was the worst accident that ever befell your doll?

My Mythdoll Yue, Fleur, has had a number of minor falls, so she has some nicks, but nothing very noticable, thank goodness.

The worst fall she ever had was at the local scupture park during a meetup. She was sitting with her arm out-streached in the nook of one of the bronze scupltures. I was about to take the pictures when she fell backwards to the stone ground. Her wig had come off and her head was turned almost all the way around. I was so scared that her face would be damaged or that something would have broken. Thankfully, the only damage she got was a very small dent in the top of her headcap. But that doesn't affect her at all, since it's covered. But the next time, I had a friend hold her from behind. ^_^;

 

My Boy has had some falls that made my heart skip a beat. But he suffered no damage * knocks on wood*

Like once I had him up on the table, just chilling behind a backpack. Well airheaded me totally forgot that he was there and went to push the backpack across the table to clear a spot for my books and *boom* he hit the floor* and mind you it the tabletop is almost 4ft off the ground.

And then just recently I went to the inner harbor in Baltimore, MD and had him standing in a thing of flower so I could take photo's. Well he was fine, posing and what not, and then *boom* face plant onto concrete. I just gasped! I was afraid to look at him. But luckily his head swiveled around and his thick wig protected him, and his fingers were fine too!


Oh, and the other day for some reason his S hook that connects to his foot decided to let go and shoot up his leg and get stuck. That unfortunately left some deep scratches on the inside of his leg. T__T

 

Probably when she fell off the wall shelf I had her on....took a header to the floor. Fortunately nothing was broken.

 

1. I 'eraced' the majority of Shiwoo's face up by accident
2. Three of Trey's fingers broke off in my bag on the way to a meet in Boston.

 

I don't have any stories to post, as I don't have one yet, but reading thru all the bad things that happened here actually makes me less worried to get one! Some of the instances described seem like their should be a lot more damage than what actually happened!

Thank the gods I have had nothing broken but I have had the worse luck with the lips of my dolls.

I used to have a magical Micheal doll and my shiwoo and him never got along. They live on top of my tv case and One day my micheal decided to take a fall off the top of the tv. His default lip were scratch so bad they had to be wiped and repainted. I sense gave the doll to a friend and we jokingly say that Riven my shiwoo pushed him off the tv because even with the new paint you can still tell where he fell.

Riven my shiwoo default lips came off cause I have a bad habite of huggleing him and sleeping with him too much and he is a limited cyber shiwoo so I was heart broken when my friend had to redo his lips but she did do a good job

 

Nicolai fell off my lap. I grabbed him, afraid he was going to hit his face-up on the wood floor I was sitting on. But I was holding a pen. He got a pen dot on the tip of his nose!
I panicked and almost cried until I finally got a magic eraser and cleaned him up.
Now he's good as new!

He hasn't gotten any permanent damage. Yet.

 

When Matt's head was away I would use his body for artistic reference. I left him standing and he fell off my desk :'( I cried. I checked for damage and his turn-neckpiece was torn right through the middle. It still worked when I got his head back. but I dont think it will be able to stand the tension when I have to restring him. T_T

 

Well, since she's only been out of the box for not even 12 hours, I have yet to have any horror stories of awful falls. But Ru's one foot apparently became disjointed or something during shipping, and a huge chip was hanging off when i got her. It has since fallen off, and that chip is a chunk, and her foot is still not in it's joint properly..and she's too tightly strung for me to get the foot in proper..and I'm not even going to attempt unstringing her for it. I've already asked to be sent a new foot (or buy one) and have asked for help from the closest dolly person near me. And she's a kicky midget- knees like to snap out from under her constantly. Thankfully, I expected her to be up antics and when attempting to stand her (after the chunk detached itself randomly), never took a hand off her until I was absolutely certain she was balanced. And even then, I never left arm's reach of her. I hope that will be the worst of it- though with me planning on taking her to a meet next week, I'm sure I'll have stories of tumbles...hopefully she won't be hurt.

 

Oh! Oh oh. ;_; Back when Karrian was just a head, my family was getting ready to move across the country. The only furniture in my room was a mattress and my desk with shelves, so that night, I had put an extra pillow on the shelf for my boys to sleep on. (I know, I'm crazy like that. xD) A day before, we had ripped up the old carpet. Well.. I went to get the boys out of bed the next morning, and Karrian's head rolled about ten feet to the hard, wood floor below. He landed right on his beautiful, beautiful Na-Nu-Ri nose.. and came out of it without a single scratch! XD Gave me a nice heart attack.

Ooh. Then another time, it had snowed a lot outside.. and my boys had never been in the snow before! Well, I went outside, then realized the camera batteries were dead.. and forgot to sit my MNF Shiwoo (who I don't own anymore) down on his butt before going inside to get extra batteries! XD I came back out, and he had a face full of snow. It was all under his eyes and everything. xD Although the only thing seriously hurt was his dignity.

Karrian also lost a couple fingers while shipping his body to my new address. >_< Instead of risking losing ALL my boys on the plane ride, I took their heads on the carry-on and shipped their bodies.. the only casualty was Karrian's ring and pinky fingers. xD

I would have to say the worst accident is that Xanara fell a good six feet off my loft bed onto my rat cage, then my floor. There's this little shelf thingy on my headboard that she always sits on, and since my lamp was in the corner against the wall, she would sit on the edge. I don't know what happened that night (she usually sits just fine.) but she just teetered off and smacked my at cage with something (some part of her torso or something, nothing breakable) and actually, a little cross on her skirt caught in the bars of the rat cage and kept her face havering a couple cm above the ground. xDDD She's TOTALLY fine, but now my rat cage has a good sized dent in it. Scared the CRAP outta me.

 

My first doll was VERY loosely strung. I stood him up to fix his shirt and as I was tugging at it, he decided it would be a good idea to suddenly bend at the waist and smash his face into an empty glass I'd been drinking from. It was a rather hefty glass and he hit it with a lot of force. Luckily nothing came of it.

 

Aside from fighting off my cats at every turn, Loric has had the worst of it.

I've drug him from Chico, California to Portland, Oregon, back to my house, then to Seattle, Washington. The whole time him falling out of my car onto gravel, being dropped by my sister every time she held him, having someone knock him over onto a glass table, having him fall off that glass table, being whacked with a Guitar Hero controller and then hitting his head on my car door window. Nope, all of that was fine.

He's standing on my desk, like he does pretty much all the time, my friend walks by and causes a wind gush or something and he falls off my desk onto my carpeted floor and all of his fingers on his right hand pop off. >.< He's a wimp. Now I'm on the search for DOD hands. >.<

 

Last night, while attempting to attach my Dreaming El's head to a Fantasy Doll body I lost my grip and everything tumbled to the floor. Something also snapped off rather loudly and for a few seconds all I could do was stare at the small pieces of resin scattered over the floor in complete and utter shock...

My greatest fear was that an ear or a nose had snapped off the head, but thankfully it was only the Luts neck donut! Somehow a part of it had managed to snap off. Everything else was completely fine and undamaged.

Luckily I had another donut and now my boy is all safely together.

I have to confess though that staring at the broken resin was the worst 'moment' I've ever had with the dolls!

 

My cat knocked Shoyo off her chair and smushed her nose. ;-; And Shoyo's most distinctive feature is her nose.

the worst thing that ever happened to Ushi was

his first day.. i decided to wait one day before opening him cause my doll buddy Briana(redheadneko) wanted me to opened him in the school but she left before my brother gave him to me (i am such a good friend like that) anyways my first period was english and my english teacher was cool enough to let us play with him and he dint even had like 2 or 3 hours when i decided to see how he standed and the girl who sits infront(its an all girl school thats how i remembered XD) of me leaned back and there he goes hits his chest against the edge of the desk and well his hands were tucked back so i catched him and i was like OMG i checked him and he was al right until my teacher hands me his finger!!! i started crying like i have never cried before and everyone just staring and then Briana's like i will fix it so we traded hands and now he wears a ring that reminds me everyday that i am such a bad mother!!!! and he has had several accidents but not serious ones!!

and this morning while a said good morning theres this white spot on his cheek that his faceup is missing!!and i lost my debit card so i cant do anything its so noticeable!!! :'(!!!!

 

I was just wondering, because I've seen some instances of some great durability out of these dolls, accidents not phasing them at all. Anyone got any stories of their own to share when people got a shock and the doll was fine?

First instance I've seen first hand was at Oni-con a couple years ago. A guy held a panel on ABJDs and everyone who had brought one to the anime convention set their's up on the table at the front of the room. One of the taller dolls decided it was tired of standing and pitched face first for the floor! Everyone gasped and had a look of "OMG! NO!" The doll was picked up and aside from a slightly displaced wig, it was perfectly fine.

The other instance was with one of my own boys, D.O.D. Tender Yen. A friend was dealing with my computer and kept bumping the desk. ANd apparently Yen was getting sick of it as he decided to take a kamikaze dive backwards off of the four and a half foot shelf at the top of my desk and smacked his head on the floor. I picked him up and looked him over, and all that was off was his headplate was askew, no problem, just turn it around, lock back in place and put his wig back on. I've really got to say, the investment in these dolls isn't just for the beauty, but the durability as well.

We're so used to very fragile or porcelain dolls here in the US though, that seeing one of these elegant creatures fall just fills you with dread, but they really can take a beating.

 

I had one of my dolls take a tumble from where he was sitting on a high shelf face first onto a very hard soapstone counter top--it scared the crap out of me, but he was fine. Frank my Souldoll Paris likes to randomly tip over on me while I'm trying to photograph him, but so far there hasn't been any damage.
